Worst Steak in Seattle 9/11/2006

I have been to Morton's, El Goucho, The Metropolitan Grill, the Union Grill, and I have to say that Daniels was not even close to touching any of them for the quality of food. The maitre d', as well as Alex our waiter were outstanding. My steak was overcooked and my friends steak didn't even look like a steak. Not sure why they charge for parking either. more

Yum! 9/6/2006

I absolutely love this place. My boyfriend and I take each other there for every birthday and every once in a while treat our parents to dinner at Daniel's. We only wish it was closer and a bit less expensive but if it was, we might just live there. I recommend it to everyone I know. Pros: Great tasting food and nice staff. Cons: A little expensive but hey, the food is really good! more

pompous, over priced, amatuer service staff 6/15/2006

Well, we had a gift certificate and were looking forward to visiting this ""famous steakhouse"". I'm REALLY happy I didn't spend any of my money there...Costco ribeye's on a Weber eclipse the steaks here and cost 90% less.\r Like Morton's, and Ruth's Chris this place feels like a chain and is, I guess, designed for soul-less drones with expense accounts to take other soul-less drones who need to be impressed with the prices on the menu.\r If you want good steak, there are many, many better choices. Cons: absurd prices, weak service, you have to pay for parking on top of your $60 ste more

A little overpriced for the food 5/3/2006

The ambiance and service were great, but I was dissappointed with the food quality for the price I paid. Pros: romantic, service, views Cons: price, food more

Good food, overpriced wine 11/8/2005

I am encouraged to see some other reviews mention half-priced wine - I know that Sundays they do that for the lower-priced bottles. Selling wine as they have, at 4x retail, is something that will alone drive me to other places that don't. At least they now use appropriate stemware for it, which is another 2005 change. Having said that, the food has always been very good, and the view from either Lake Union or Bellevue is very nice. Pros: good steak Cons: expensive more

All Bottles of Wine were discounted by 50% 7/25/2005

We celebrate all our special occasions at Daniels, we love the special attention we get.The food and service are great. The Lobster Tempura appetizer is so tasty and 1/2 price during Happy Hour. I was surprised on our last visit that all bottles of wine were half price, such a deal. We will keep going back to Daniels. Pros: Happy Hour, Service, Steak Cons: Lack of Parking, View not Guaranteed, Smoke in Lounge more

Daniel's Deck 7/18/2005

A place that has one of the best views on Union, and probably in Seattle allows smokers to ruin the experience for the 75% that don't smoke. In a progressive city like Seattle, this restaurant seems to be stuck in the past. Until they move into today's realities concerning second hand smoke, this place is rated by me to be a NO-GO! more

Mmmm mmmm mmmmm 6/13/2005

I beg to differ with the last review. Yes, there is cigar smoking in the lounge. But, if you eat in the dining room - you will not even notice the smoke. The lounge was very well ventilated and I was sitting with three cigar smokers. The food is wonderful - by far the best steak I've had in Seattle. It truly melted in my mouth. The service was great (except our waiter was not very well versed on the wine list) and everything from the appetizers to dessert were phenomenal. more

Great Steak in Room Full of Cigar Smoke 4/5/2005

First, the good news. The steaks here are terrific. The lobster is very good (but at $80 it should be better) and the service is better than average. However, when your are spending over $200 on dinner for two, you shouldn't have to put up with cigar smoke from the bar. Even worse, it was smoke from cheap cigars. Neither I nor my date will ever return. If you want a great steak, try one of Seattle's many steakhouses. The view may be much better and you won't have someone puffing on a stogie just a few feet away. If you want lobster, try any of Seattle's great seafood restaurants. Few things ruin the taste of a lobster more than cigar smoke. If your date doesn't like stogies, don't even think about trying Daniel's for a romantic dinner! Pros: steaks, service, valet parking Cons: cigar smokers, over-priced, loud music more

Fabulous, Romantic, and Accepting! 3/9/2005

My partner and I visited Daniel's for our one year anniversary. Since this was a special day for us, he made the reservations. I swung by on the way home from work and dropped off a bouquet of flowers (to surprise him). The host staff was very helpful with taking the flowers and 'staging' them for our arrival. From the moment we arrived, until the time we left, we were treated like royalty. The flowers were on the table when we arrived (which was a real treat). Our waiter was the phenominal Ryan - didn't miss a beat. We were treated like we were his only table, which wasn't the case at all. We enjoyed an amazing dinner, great ambience with a view of the water, and wonderful memory of our evening together. I highly recommend Daniel's (and Ryan) to everyone wanting to make that 'special event' memorable! Pros: Ambience, Service, Food more

Best steak in Seattle! 3/9/2004

Being college students, my fiance and I don't have all that much money to spend on nice dinners out. That said, I do not begrudge a penny spent on our amazing dinner at Daniel's Broiler! My New York with peppercorn sauce was charred just perfectly to medium rare, and their mashed potatoes are a perfect compliment. Don't forget to save room for dessert! The seasonal tart (ours was apple) was the perfect end to the meal. Pros: Great steak, Good service, Great ambience more

Great Happy Hour 12/22/2003

First, during happy hour 4:30-6:30 PM the house wines and, more importantly, the appetizers are half price. The latter is the deal: generous filet mignon steak sandwiches for under $10, steamed mussles or clams and an amazing lobster salad under $10! Second, it's a great looking after work crowd. Forget the expensive dinner menu and stop by happy hour. We do every week or so! Pros: Great Happy Hour, Good looking crowd, Great drinks Cons: Crowded sometimes, corny piano bar more

More fun than I thought... 12/14/2003

My friends and I decided to meet for drinks on Monday night after work. When making suggestions about where to go, one of them suggested Daniel's on Lake Union. Most of us thought that Daniel's would be, how shall I say this... a bit too ""stuffy"". But, my friend insisted that it would be fun because they have live piano. So, agreeing to expand our horizons a bit, we met there. It was GREAT! The piano player rocked (I found out his name is Joe Carolus). He played great music, the waitress was fantastic, and we even caught the tail end of happy hour before the show! We had such a good time that I thought I would spread the word. Everyone knows that Daniel's has great food, but I was very pleasantly surprised to find out how upbeat and fun their lounge is. We are even going back tonight! Pros: Up-Scale, Good Energy, Live Music Cons: Crowded more

Daniel's is wonderful 9/5/2003

I've eaten at all 3 Daniel's & had office parties up to 25 people, and have never had a poor experience at Daniel's. Tip: if you've got 8+ diners, spring for the private room upstairs! The service is warm & friendly, with a willingness to answer questions without hovering. The steaks are aged & tender & usually perfectly broiled. The Heirloom Tomato salad is delicious, with Maytag Bleu Cheese. We usually split enormous lobster tails, or crab cocktail, which in Daniel's case has huge chunks of crab & a tangy sauce. It's true that meals come ala carte -try the fantastic creamed spinach! - but many restaurants do the same thing. I'd rather do ala carte, since I know what I want to eat! For deserts try the liquour-infused, chocolate-covered berries! BTW, when you leave Daniel's, they've already valeted your car for you, without you waiting. That's service, my friends. Pros: Delicious food, Great martinis, Effectively managed Cons: Portions too big, Can't eat there daily, Need more veggies more

Fun and right 6/20/2003

Well, we went in, parking was easy, the hostess was very nice, the service very good and we had good food. Oh.....we had a view of the lake too! Job well done! more

Kick Butt Happy Hour 4/22/2003

I went with some friends to check out their happy hour~ the food was good & the prices can't be beat. The cocktail server was on it, she never let our drinks run dry! Been there a few times for dinner before, service has always been terrific. more

Quality doesn't meet the price 2/12/2003

I will give it to them on service and appetizers...they were excellent! I have never had better service than I did at Daniels Broiler. One problem...the steaks were sub-par. You would expect a $35 dollar steak would taste like a $35 dollar steak. In fact, I have had better steaks purchased at Top Foods for $7.50. Plus they nickle and dimed you on every little item. Such as paying for vegitables when they should be included in the meal. I didn't understand that at all! If the meals were half the price, I would have gave it a better review...but no such chance this time. A real let down! Pros: Service, Appetizers, Ambience Cons: Food, Prices, Parking more

Dinner by 'torch light' 11/16/2002

Whilst on vacation in Seattle from London (UK). My partner and I were drawn to the views and location of Daniels Broiler on Lake Union, although we hadn't expected quite such a 'high class' restaurant (being located next to Burger King). Well the ambience was great, shame about the gum that some SOB had stuck under the table which then got stuck to my girlfriends pants. Anyway....Food was superb My girlfriend had the Lobster Salad and I had the best steak west of the Rockies. Only problem apart from the gum....Don't shine a torch on my dinner plate when I'm eating, alternatively get brighter lightbulbs. If the chef is that good he should know how a rare steak is cooked. PS the dessert was to die for (Chocolate..Hot and gooey) Mmmmm Pros: Excellent steaks, Courteous staff, Great Desserts Cons: Dimly lit, No gum remover, Neighbours (B K) more

Super Service! 10/12/2002

My family and I recently went to Daniel's to celebrate our Grandma's Birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food was fabulous and the portions were huge! Since my Grandma has a smaller appetite the server even offered to bring her smaller portions! We were treated like regular guests and greeted by name by our server who made the night extra special by providing a Birthday cake for our party even though we had not thought to pre-order one. We'll be back! Pros: Parking, Service/Food, Piano Bar more

If you love a good steak and good beer.. 6/15/2002

This is the place to go! The service is personable and quick; the food is always perfect, and the atmosphere encourages you to stay ""for one more brew"". The piano can get grating, but it's do-able. Get to know the bartenders; they're the best!!! Pros: exc alcohol selection, exc service Cons: difficult to get to, parking more
