I have been dancing at Dance Dimensions for five years. Laurie, (the instructor), is an amazing teacher. She is funny and makes everyone feel good about themselves. Also, she has been professionally trained, so she can make sure we have correct technique so we won't hurt ourselves. We just got a new studio, and it's much more spacious than the old one. There's a main dance room, a small theater room, a bathroom, two offices, a voice room, and a party room. I have never taken voice lessons or had a party there but I have heard that the parties are fun. (I haven't heard anything about the voice lessons). The costumes are great, but never revealing or inappropriate. If you have a little girl(or boy), this is a great first-time studio. The little kids all love the classes. I always love the routines. I have been going to Dance Dimension for five years now and would never drop out. Miss Laurie has a Masters in dance education, and she's an expert on everything involved in dance. She's nice to everyone and NEVER plays favorites. She gives individual and full-class instructions. She always welcomes new students after carefully deciding which class (age and skill wise) would be best for them. The recitals are absolutely fabulous and very entertaining. Starting in 2008 (fall, when classes begin) she will have a Broadway Theatre Program from NYC coming to teach theater classes. Also, there is beautiful costumes that are worn at the recital. There is also a huge new studio Miss Laurie has only owned for 1 year now. It has a b-day party room, 2 bathrooms, two offices, two HUGE dance rooms, and a voice class room for the voice students. Ms. Laurie puts her heart and soul into her school because she is passionate about what she does. Most importantly, she has the education to back it up. Something to think about when selecting a dance school is not simply the amount of experience an instructor has, but what type of training does the instructor have regarding how growing bodies work. Her rates are a bargain, and the new location is fantastic. Pros: Too many! Cons: None. more

I was prompted to write this review because a friend that I referred here told me there was some mixed reviews about this school so I wanted to give my 2 cents. Dance Dimension has all the things a mom could look for in a program for her children. I have two children who have attended dance classes there for 4 years and have been extremely happy with my experiences. The facilities are small and very family friendly. Each child is greeted by name when they enter the studio as are the parents and siblings of the dancer. The class sizes are relatively small and there is a definite family atomosphere. All the instructors have a high level of professionalism and are talented dancers, as evidenced by the fact that they have performed in the last two recitals. The routines for the children are well choreographed, and each student's individual strengths are always highlighted. Many of the children have been attending dance class together for many years and have developed healthy relationships with each other. Instead of encouraging the students to be competitive with each other as some other dance schools do, these instructors focus on the positive aspects of dance and encourage all the children to be positive in their interactions with others. The recitals are very entertaining as theater is incorporated into them also, so there is always a story line to move the numbers along and you avoid the long wait in between numbers because the audience is being entertained. The owner and her staff do their best to make each child feel special and each family. The prices are very family friendly and the owner does her best to keep dance (an expensive pursuit with shoes, outfits, recitals, etc.) as affordable as she can for families. The facility is small, but taken care of well and with a lot of creativity. After speaking to many parents in the area about various dance schools I've come to realize how good all the families of Dance Dimension have it in this ""hidden gem"" on the south shore. I would highly recommend this dance school to any parent looking to enroll their child in dance and/or theater classes. I have a close friend whose daughter was told she was no longer welcome. The instructor said my friend's daughter critizized the step routine of one of the boys who cried because of the critizism. This may have been the case but when my friend tried to find out what had in fact happended, the instructor could not provide specifics instead, my friends daughter as told she could no longer attend class. I could not recommend this dance instruction. I signed up my daughter without seeing the place (my bad) and was very disappointed with the conditions and lack of visitor's space. There is one small room for 12 or so kids in class. There is barely elbow room for the kids. The owner and instructor is not capable of actively demostrating proper form. In my opinion and, quite frankly and I'm sorry to say this, she is simply not able to perform the routines that the girls need to emulate. She is not a good role model for healthy life stiles that is so important with children, especially girls. Cons: Just read my opinon more

This is the second dance instructional my daughter has tried. The first was very good but not quite convenient. First impressions of Dance Dimension are not great, the studio is small with no observation area and the facilities are less than ideal (a bit run down) but convenient. The atmosphere is generally acceptable but the instruction is not. Two hour sessions could easily be one hour if all the breaks and conversation were removed. Third try is a charm! I have had my daughter enrolled in two other dance programs over the years before trying Dance Dimension in Whitman. My daughter is absolutely elated with her instruction and simply cannot get enough! I have never known her to have this much passion about anything! One of my sons is also a student (age 7) and performs remarkably well! Each time we enter the school the environment is one in which a person feels genuinely welcome. This is clearly an excellent choice when selecting a dance school and is fully equipped with a capable, professional and exceptionally talented staff. I find great comfort in sending my children to Dance Dimension. Pros: Teachers, happy environment more
