It's all in the Fries 7/17/2008

This is definitely a Westwood staple, and a great stop for lunch. They have great salads and really good sandwiches as well, not to mention a pretty good location for people watching, but the Sweet Potato Fries are definitely what sets the place apart. I'm not saying they're as good as Father's Office, but they're still pretty incredible and you don't have to wait 2 hours for them. In fact, there never seems to be too much of a wait here and all the food is pretty reasonable. Good qualities in a college lunch spot. more

Casual and comfortable dining experience 6/27/2008

Damon and Pythias is one of my staples in Westwood because it not only is well-priced, but there is enough variety here to please any palette, mostly because the menu is customizable. In addition, the portions are generally pretty heaping, but it is possible to order half sandwiches and salads to reduce the leftovers (and food intake). The meat here might be a little expensive for a college student but is usually from a good cut, and I've never been unhappy with it. My favorite: the Southwest Salad- love the corn nuts! Onion rings are also amazing. Pros: Customizable menu Cons: Partial service more

Healthier food that's still satisfying 3/31/2008

The name of the restaurant is misleading, but the food was great even if it wasn't exactly Greek. I ordered a barbeque salmon sandwich that was overflowing with greens, onions, and chunks of tomato. The grilled asparagus appetizer, which is literally just five stalks of grilled asparagus on a plate, was also good. Pros: Good, healthy food Cons: A little expensive more

Good lunch spot 11/9/2007

I've been a fan of Damon and Pythia's since being introduced my freshman year at UCLA. At first I thought it was Greek because of the name, but its really more California-esque food. The salads are all huge and if you want to get creative, you can make your own. Also, the garlic curly fries are AMAZING, but really really really garlicky!! Pros: Fresh and healthy food, really good french fries Cons: A little pricey for a restaraunt where you order at the counter more

Great Greek in Westwood 2/22/2007

I was never a huge fan of Greek food, but Damon and Pythias really converted me. Their huge-portioned, hearty salads and sandwiches are really worth the time and money to go out into Westwood. They really pile on the meat on both salads and sandwiches, leaving you full and satisfied... And I can't get enough of those garlic fries! I'm not a big fan of the turkey sandwich though (beware it is real Thanksgiving turkey meat, not the sandwich meat that you buy from markets). more

Great sandwiches and salads 2/12/2007

Damon and Pythias is a good place to grab lunch in Westwood. Their food is delicious, fresh, and healthy. Their turkey sandwiches on fresh bread are tasty, and I love the option of creating your own salad: choose the lettuce, dressing, meat (grilled chicken is good), and toppings which include honey-roasted walnuts, raisins, red peppers, cheese, etc. The fries are a good side. Warning: their portions are huge (a regular salad could last you through at LEAST two meals) and prices are a little high. You order at the counter, so it' s not a great date place, but there is patio seating outside which is nice on a sunny day. You can also order food to go. Pros: fresh and healthy fare, big portions Cons: overpriced, no parking in westwood more

Yummy garlic fries 10/31/2006

The sandwiches are big enough for two peopel to share, and are pretty good. But the real draw is the garlic fries. There's also blue cheese fries if you really feel like repelling people with your breath. During the day, there's free parking across the street. more

great sandwiches! 7/14/2006

i love getting their t.club with cranberry cream cheese. they pay close attention to detail and it shows in their food. the prices are reasonable--i like taking visiting friends here for lunch on a nice day to eat in the patio. i had some soup one time here, though, and it was not very good. more

I don't get the appeal 7/2/2006

All of my friends just rave about Damon's amazing salads and sandwiches, so I felt I had to try it. And I have to say, I just don't get it. My sandwich was extremely dry and bland, and the bit of salad I had off my friend's plate wasn't fantastic. It's cheap and the points system they have is a great idea for college students (if you sign up as a member, the more you eat there the more points you earn toward a free meal). Maybe my taste buds are different, but there are definitely better places to eat in Westwood. Pros: Great value for college students Cons: Bland food more

Hands down best place in westwood!!! 6/10/2006

I LOVE love love this restaurant. I'm consistently impressed by the high quality of the food!! Salads are delicious, healthy, and always fresh, sandwhiches are creative and DEElicious (my favorite is the turkey club). Be sure to order a side, my favorites are the sweet potato fries and the onion rings (always crisp and perfect!). To top it off, the price is unbelievably cheap for the quality of the food. For a sandwhich and a side I usually spend around $12, which I think is an absolute steal. I sometimes drive all the way from Orange County just to eat at this restaurant, so I obviously can't sing it's praises enough!! Definitely a place to try! Pros: food, food, food more

Best quick meal in westwood 6/13/2005

This place has amazing food! The salads and sandwiches are great (I love the california garden sandwich and creating my own salad- and I'm not a vegetarian). Fries on the side are amazing too (get them without garlic if it's a little to intense). Many healthy alternatives as well. I eat here at least 3-4 times a week. Pros: Food more

best restaurant in westwood 12/30/2004

i went to ucla as an undergrad and am a current grad student. i'm a major foodie, and this is one of my favorite restaurants in LA. nothing beats the value, the freshness, the quick service, and the taste. you can mix and match your own salads and sandwiches and their fixed menu items are just amazing. everytime i go, it's totally jam-packed, often with lines going out of the door. please go do yourself a favor and check out this restaurant. it is NOT greek. you can also get free 1 hour parking right across the street. Pros: quality, price, speed more

Best food for the price in Westwood 8/20/2003

I've only tried a few of the items on their menu, but I'll keep going back for more. The veggie sandwich is very respectable, as if they actually care about vegetarians, and the garlic fries are a great side. They've also got fabulous salads that you can get built any way you want. I imagine that for you meat-eaters there are quite a few good things too, I seem to remember some kind of ribs or something that people liked. Oh, the one warning is that they get crowded for lunch, so you may have to fight for a table. Pros: good food, inexpensive, veggie friendly Cons: can get crowded, parking in westwood more

great food in Westwood 7/29/2002

This is a fairly new restaurant in Westwood and a great change from pub food. The owners are incredibly friendly and the food is wonderful. You can order ahead as well order catering for meetings. The only bad part is that it is in Westwood, so parking can be difficult. Pros: patio, service, food Cons: parking, small dining area more
