Dale Serrano Dance Studios

When we moved to Bham I intended to let my daughter try out all the reputable local dance schools. The first year we chose a strong ballet school and my daughter learned a lot but did not enjoy the environment and hated going. The next year we tried a different ballet studio and she had a wonderful time but really did not learn anything. The next year we had a conflict with class schedule of our next choice and ended up at Dale Serrano. The first month we were there, my daughter learned more than the entire previous year and we both loved the learning environment. We ended up stopping our search and have been with Serrano for 10 years experiencing wonderful instruction and fabulouse recitals beyond anything we experience anywhere else in Nashville or Birmingham. My daughter has gravitated toward hip hop, jazz and tap and especially loves to dance to showtunes and I love that they have encouraged her to find her own passion. I believe the school is especially strong in providing a professional and respectful environment for learning and more importantly promoting and preserving the students love for dance. I would also like to address a previous review - Dale Serrano's is absolutely one of the most reasonably priced studios in the area. I took from Dale Serrano from age seven till 18. It is a wonderful studio and soon became like a second family to me. I never had a bad experience there and loved every minute of it. My teachers were more than qualified to teach me and nutured me into the wonderful dancer I am today (I went on to dance for my colleges dance team). This studio is defintely out to get all the money they can from you. The have a few good teachers but for the most part their teachers are unqualified....they compensate for charging an arm and a leg on recital cost and putting on a big show. I want my daughter to have dance teachers that have dance degrees or have danced professionally, not teachers that have just taken from the studio and were hired when they graduateed. They also sale online danceware and boy do they jack up the price. I was say check other studios like Briarwood or CDF or anywhere but here. They do have convient locations but that is about the only good thing I have to say. My child missed three dance classes and they wouldn't let her be in the recital.....never again will I make the mistake of taking at Dale Serrano. My daughter has taken dance from the Dale Serrano Studios for the past six years. She has learned so much and I have watched her grow, not only into a beautiful young lady, but into a very confident person with high self-esteem. I feel this attitude grew in part with help from her dance teachers who always encouraged her to face her fears of being on the stage and who always freely let her know how proud they are of her at every single accomplishment.
