I've tried many colorists but I've not met one with the talent that Cindy has. She always gets my color the way I want it - I get lots of compliments...she's sweet and nice and easy to work with....cuts are the same, stylish and right on the money!!! I have been going to Avanti for over 2 years and it is a great upscale salon. No snotty staff as you might expect to find on Newbury Street. Louise Cherbanion has been doing my highlights and cuts and I highly recommend her. She listens to what I want, provides suggestions, and leaves me looking like a million bucks! If you are like me, moving to a new city and finding a new hair stylist is a nightmare. I was recommended by a friend to try Avanti but was very skeptical because my first haircutting experince in Boston was not so good. Ever since my first visit to Avanti I will never go anywhere else. I get my haircut by the incredibly talented Giovanni who is wonderful at working with my very difficult and fickle hair and does a wonderful job on bangs. There are not many stylists that have been able to cut my hair to my liking but Giovanni is able to customize my haircut to give me excatly what I am looking for. The salon itself is very nice with wonderful clientele and products. If you are looking for a top notch haircut in a first class salon, Avanti is where you want to go. more

I dont know how that self-loathing person could live with his/ herself after having made that horrific comment about my favorite salon. Listen, I have tried everywhere, Mario Russo, James Joseph, even Supercuts, in search of the favorite haircut; and nowhere save Avanti, have I encountered a hairstylist as patient and accomodating to my picky, bitchy taste. I went to the owner, Alex for my color, who I just learned has won best colorist of Boston several times, and I got my haircut with Julia. Both worked with me to give me a hairstyle that would suit my face and lifestyle. I love Alex!! He is not you stereotypical hairdresser, but instead works to make sure you feel calma and relaxed; while Julia gave me the best haircut and blowout I have ever gotten. Personally, I feel that if you want to go to a salon where the owner and the staff work to make sure you walk out of there feeling happy, confident, and looking greatl; then I'd highly recommend booking an appointment at Avanti. more

I found this salon by searching this site and I was happily relieved when I got there. When I called to make my appointment they matched me up with Janida. Janida gave me an amazing cut, and did not overcharge. Also she knew about products they had and when I asked her questions she helped explain what they did and suggested some that might work for me. It is really nice and relaxing. The waiting area was comfortable and the staff was attentive. I explained what I want and got something even better. It is a very nice salon with nice people. They work well with you to make sure you get what you want and have suggestions for care after you leave.. It is easy to get to if you take the T. I would definitely suggest requesting Janida. I've been a regular customer at Avanti for over a year now. The front desk staff is consistently very friendly and helpful. I've been extremely happy with the skincare that Robin Erb has given me. I highly recommend visiting her for microdermabrasion or either one of her chemical peels as these services are truly amazing. She also does a great job on my brows. In addition to skincare, I always get color and cut done by Nancy Binder, she is a magician at making me feel like a movie star. more

This is the first salon I've been to where everyone is friendly and professional. (Oxymoron?) The staff go the extra mile to make you feel comfortable, even though you're not their client! I went here because I was referred by a friend I had no idea they had facials and waxing and had my brow and lip done while my color was processing, the woman who did them was friendly, fast and experienced. Then when I was done, my hair looked so good and I was feeling so relaxed that I had my nails done as well. I think the woman was named Bernice, THE BEST MANICURE I'VE EVER HAD! I'm coming back next week for a pedicure. She told me that she won best pedicure this year in one of the local magazines so I can't wait to see what happens. Give this salon a try, even though its at the Ritz-y end of Newbury, they are super friendly and down to earth, no attitude here. I felt very comfortable at my first appointment on Newbury street. This salon is everything you would want on Newbury Street. Modern, classy, and lots of talented stylists. I highly recommend Alex, I think he is the owner now. He is the best colorist and you can't look for someone to do a more natural blonde. I have also seen various staff members upon recommendation when he was booked and they were extremely talented and friendly. The people here seem to like what they do and like people.
