A Great Finger Lakes Nature Trail 2/9/2009

What a great place for a hike anytime of the day or no matter the season. Early morning and later afternoon works best for spotting the birds (or just listening to their wonderful conversations), but anytime of day Cumming has several trails of different lengths and difficulty for hiking and enjoying the beauty and wildlife of the Nature Center. There's also a lodge with great information on the wildlife you can see and suggested maps and trails for best viewing. There's picnic tables and areas so pack a lunch (or your favorite wine and some snacks) and plan to spend the day. There are guided tours and birdwatching available. Cumming Nature Center is definitely a great Finger Lakes hiking trail for family fun--no matter the season--because there's cross-country skiing and snowshoeing available during the winter as well. more

A great scenic place to spend the day 9/21/2006

If you like the outdoors and hiking- this is a great place to come visit. Cumming Nature Center (A part of Rochester Museum & Science Center). Cumming Nature center is located in Naples, NY. They are only open on the weekends from 9-4:30.... The nature center offers 6 miles of hiking. There are 5 different trails to take. The Beaver Trail- Leads to a 35 acre beaver pond. The Helen Gordon Trail- Outdoor art gallery of birds The Haudenosaunee Trail- Seneca Indians The Pioneer Trail- reconstructed 18th century homestead. The Conservation Trail- my favorite Leap Frog Pond- kid play area. Come out and enjoy nature at its best- There are guided tours or you can walk the trails on your own. My favorite time to go is in the Fall when the leaves are changing colors- Its a real peaceful place to watch Nature. http://www.rmsc.org/cnc/cncframeset.htm more
