Good Building-Great Staff 6/11/2010

Enjoyed living in the Crystal House while employed in the area. Beachfront living is amazing and having management office on site helped resolve any issues that came up. Maintenance staff members were always easy to find and were friendly and polite. Having lived in several high rises, I appreciated the cleanliness of the inside of the building. Pros: Right on the Beach, clean, excellent staff Cons: older construction more

AWFUL!!!!! 1/21/2010

I am appalled at the poor attitude and service on the part of the management office at the Crystal House in Long Beach, New York. Life in the building was wearisome and frustrating as the management and pool staff acted as if the residents were troubling them to do their jobs. Both the building manager, Ronni, and the lifeguard would leave the building for extended periods of time during the day leaving the residents to sit and wait for their return. Ronni, who takes cigarette breaks frequently throughout the day, was very difficult to get a hold of. Then after not being available to accept the rent check she would have the gall to send us a letter insisting that we were late to pay the office and were in debt as if we were criminals. How could we possibly get the check to her if she is never there? And god-forbid there is a problem in the apartment, Ronni told us that we complained too much and that she could not deal with the problem. What was the problem we called about you ask? We had called Ronni about a gas leak in our kitchen and a leak in the ceiling that ruined a $4000 computer. These are no minor complaints! How dare a building manager say that a resident complains too much? We rarely called the office, as it?s difficult to get Ronni to stop talking so that we could go about the rest of our day. This building is awfully managed. There is another man in the office that to be honest I have lived in this building for two years and I still did not have a clue who he is until today. Apparently his name is David and is quite possibly the rudest most uncooperative man I?ve ever met in my entire life. I once came to the office because I was locked out of my apartment and he wouldn?t open the office door. He told me through the door that Ronni wasn?t there and wasn?t expected back for the rest of the day. It was a weekday at 1pm. He offered no help and told me I should run around the building barefoot in search of Danny, the supervisor. He wouldn?t even let me use the phone to call and see if Danny could let me in. When my fianc? asked the building for a letter explaining that we had a leak in the apartment a few months ago for our insurance company they gave us a very hard time and asked if we slipped and fell walking out of the apartment if we would hold him accountable as well. We weren't even expecting them to pay to replace the computer that was ruined, all we needed was a letter to submit to the insurance company. Our next door neighbor has been washing feces covered sheets in the community washing machines. When we asked the building to do something about this unhealthy situation we were once again told that it was not their problem. The manager leaves in the early afternoon on weekdays so she is never available when she is needed. Luckily I am soon moving out of this terrible building and into a bigger and much nicer one down the block with a complete gym and many other amenities. The punchline? The bigger and nicer building costs only $5 more monthly than this horrible dump! Pros: Maintenance Staff is nice Cons: Manager is TERRIBLE more
