Romantic yet Fun! 10/19/2009

I've been to Cru a few times. I like to sit outside on the patio for wine and cheese plates or appetizers. They are reasonable priced. The chocolate fondue is awesome! It comes with fruit, cake, ..more! Pros: ""Closeout"" discounted wine list, atmosphere Cons: entrees are expensive more

Great Atmosphere, Wine, Food, Music all in one! 10/11/2009

I didn't know what to expect when my girlfriend wanted to go to Cru for wine and dinner. Usually, we would have to make three stops to get what we rec'd in one night at Cru. The wine selection was awesome! The food was awesome! The entertainer was extra awesome! This guy ( John R?) sings, plays sax, and piano. He serenaded us and the whole restaurant throughout the evening(it was a Thursday night). He made us feel at home at Cru. The staff was very professional. They made us feel at home also. Not your ordinary wine bar. Thanks. Very romantic! Pros: Not your ordinary wine bar! more

Drive 28 miles to eat here 3/10/2009

Living in the city, I like to get away... to the Woodlands. Market Street has a quaint Main Street feel to it that I liked and we like going but didn't enjoy eating at Tommy Bahama. So one day we tried Cru. It has a nice patio area to dine at on those really nice Houston days where it's a crime to stay indoors and it's good for people watching. I don't drink so I can't really comment on the wine and selection but I come for the food. The portions are small but filling but the artistry of the food is divine. My first meal there I had beef tips sandwich. I forgot what sort of bread it was served in but I remember the sauce it was cooked in. It was amazing. My husband and I were tempted to order seconds. The second time we went, we had a bento box lunch with beef, couscous and fruit salad. Not a morsel of couscous was left it was so good. The flavors complimented each other and the fruit salad refreshing and delightful. The third time we went it was on a Sunday when they had brunch. My husband loved the steak and eggs - though he wished there were more steak and I enjoyed the crab cake eggs benedict. We go all the way up to the Woodlands for food but the atmosphere is what really makes it nice. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking, portions are small but still worth it more

Good food if you aren't really hungry 4/9/2008

I dined here once and while I enjoy dining on patios, I was forced to eat outside in the heat due to a private party using the entire dining room. That's partly my fault I should have called ahead, I just didn't know. The constantly chaning wine list is great, but limits the selection of by the glass wines. The food is very tasty, this may be due to the limited menu I had due to the private party, mostly appitizer sized portions. I wouldn't eat here if I was looking for a filling meal. Good service. Pros: Nice location and very pretty Cons: Call ahead to check for limited menu and seating more

Most Passionate Staff about the Menu 11/18/2007

I do not have one bad thing to say about this restaurant. My boyfriend and I went around to view the menus of all the surrounding restaurants and comparing class to price, this restaurant was the best. Not only that but as we passed by the executive chef came over to speak with us as he could tell we were interested. He immediately found out my love for cheese and informed me of there wonderful cheese and whine flights which include 3 types of wine to sample, three types of cheese with breads and fruits, nuts and olives. He was super nice and we ultimately went back there to dine. We had a cheese flight and a wine flight to start off that was wonderful. The waitress was equally as nice and knowledgeable as the exec chef. We had the duck for the main course which I highly recommend, and after the meal the exec chef came over again to make sure we enjoyed everything. I would glady spend all of my money in that restuarant. It was the best. Pros: ambience, wonderful staff, wonderful exec chef. great menu, fair price Cons: small space, its not next door to my house and i cant eat there every meal. more
