A bad Pixie cut in the 70's left me with life long hair trauma, so a trip to the salon is like a trip to the dentist for me. Seriously. And, as a result, I've had a horrible time finding a hair place to call home. (I know, I know - I don't need a salon, I need a therapist.) But I think I just found one. A friend of mine recommended a guy named Chris at Crowned Studio in Old Town and, with the holidays approaching and my hair looking wretched, I made an appointment. Well, I saw Chris last night and he truly was amazing. The salon itself is warm and inviting and Chris is just amazing. He set me at ease immediately, gave me great advice and, honestly, it was a joy to watch him work. He was really fast, with zero b.s., and I am extremely happy with my hair. I was in and out in 30 minutes, which made me VERY happy and - the best part of all - for the first time in my adult life, I actually look forward to going back! Seriously. So this review is for all the shy people out there, who hate the salon experience. Go see Chris, at Crowned Studio. He's a pro - and a genuinely nice guy. I think I'm going to cry. My husband and I have been clients of Meredith's for 2+ years now and we are so glad that she is now closer to us in Old Town Pasadena at the new Crowned Studio! Meredith takes amazing care of my long and lucious locks which I am not a big fan of cutting very often but more than happy to color and highlight as often as she reccomends. I'm a big fan of changing my color often and she has never let me down from brown to blonde to highlights to red and everything in between. Do yourself a favor and go see her soon. I have been a client of Meredith's for years. She does natural, gorgeous, blonde highlights like no one else! I always leave the salon looking like I stepped out of a commercial for hair. I also enjoy spending time in her chair. She is a fun gal with a great personality. Crowned Studio is the perfect place to house such a wonderful stylist. It is charming and cute. For the past year MEREDITH has been doing my hair in Beverly Hills, and this last week I went to her new digs at Crowned Studio!!! So impressed!!! Old town Pasadena is super cute!!! The salon is beautiful and Mere did a great job on my hair. She is a wizard with scissors and always listens to what I want. She makes getting my haircut really fun! I will follow this crew where ever they go.... from uber conservitive San Marino to Hipster Urban Old Town Pasadena to where ever my head belongs to Andrea the haircolor guru and Christopher.the cutting genius these 2 have worked magic on my crown for 4 years and are still the most affordable hair people around... Andrea and her team are the best. Andrea is a color wizard, Chris is a master cutter and Nela and Amy are just magical with the blowdryer and flat iron! I looked long and hard for a team that could turn me from gray and frizzy to blonde and sleek, and this is the Dream Team that does just that! The new location is fun and funky and there is 90-minute free parking right around the corner. Big thumbs up all around! I followed Chris and Andrea from Starrhouse; they are both so talented and make the salon experience relaxing and fun. I went to the new salon last week for a wash and dry, and Chris did a fabulous job as usual! The space is intimate and well decorated. Its great that they are in Old Town now. This is the second location I have followed this team to and will keep following. Hair is one of those things that everyone notices and that if you mess up cannot undo right away. Chris and the rest of the team get it right every time. They are also terrific at finding a style to fit a new you or alter the current and beloved you if you so desire a change. They have a great artistic eye and are fun to visit with as well. I recommend them highly. more

I FOUND MY STYLISTY CONNIE!!! IT FELT LIKE CHRISTMAS IN...DECEMBER. I HAD GONE TO CONNIE FOR YEARS, BUT IT HAD BECOME SUCH A HASSLE AT ""STARRHOUSE"" THAT I ON OCCASION SAW OTHER HAIR DRESSERS>>>>AND WAS ALWAYS DISSAPPOINTED.<<< I CALLED CROWNED STUDIO AND THEY TOTALLY WORKED WITH MY SCHEDULE TO FIT ME IN THIS WEEK. SHE IS WORTH THE WAIT, MY HAIR ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT, SHE IS HONEST WITH WHAT MY HAIR WILL DO, AND SHOWS ME HOW TO ACHIEVE THE SAME LOOK AT HOME. I USE THE HAIR DRYER AND MY FINGERS INSTEAD OF A BRUSH , ITS SO EASY !!AND THEN ADD A LITTLE POMADE AND I GET TONS OF COMPLIMENTS!!
