Major disappointment 12/16/2007

Based on the other, stellar reviews, I wish I could find *that* Cresheim Cottage Cafe! The one I ate at last night was suffused with fireplace smoke (waaaaay past ambience) and presented unremarkable and undercooked food. My entree, fish & chips, took nearly an hour to arrive and was still partly raw/doughy when served. We politely asked for the check, minus the sushi, and left. I must say that our overworked waiter was very gracious (and most likely caught in the middle -- I've heard that the chef is also the owner, and if that's true then the waitstaff would have little say in what goes out to the tables). Cons: Overly smoky, undercooked food, attitude more

good dining experience 8/14/2007

The food is interesting and tasty for the price. Our waitress was very patient with us because it took us awhile to get seated and decide what to eat. All of the salads are yummy. The desserts are good as well. Pros: service, salad, desserts Cons: salty mashed potatoes more

Consistently good service, fabulous fresh, fresh, fresh food, beautiful outdoor setting in season, romantic fireside dining in fall, winter, spring 4/28/2007

This place is my home away from home when eating out. I love a place where the service is attentive, responsive, but not overly intrusive or bothersome. They seem to have achieved the perfect balance. They attract an interesting diverse crowd. I Pros: Convenient parking, beautiful outdoor dining, romantic fireside indoor dining Cons: Once in a while they are too busy to get in! more

great neighborhood restaurant 9/19/2006

My partner and I eat at the Cottage regularly, and it is awesome. The menu changes each season, and it seems to just get better and better. We love the atmosphere, especially the outdoor area in the spring/summer and the fireplace room in the winter. The staff is great, and they are always friendly and make us feel at home. Cresheim Cottage is a great asset to Mt. Airy. Try the crab cakes! Pros: beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, friendly staff more

Great environment 9/18/2006

We went for lunch and the food was tasty. We sat outside and it felt sometimes we were forgotten. It took a long time to get refills for our drinks even when there weren't many people. I had the bread pudding, yummy. I recommend it for lunch since you don't have to make a reservation. We enjoyed our visit and I look forward trying the brunch on Sunday. Pros: Atomosphere and decorations Cons: Time isn't a factor at this place. more

Food, Service, Atmosphere... all great! 7/13/2006

We actually learned about Cresheim Cottage on Citysearch. It's in Mt. Airy, and the R7 let us off one short block away. You definitely need a reservation for a Friday night. We had to wait about ten minutes (with no res), but it was worth it. We started with the Dip Trio, and then I had the Crab Cakes and my date had the Softshell Crabs. Really really really amazing. Our waitress was great... professional and polite. Everything was just so good that I had to come back to Citysearch and write about it. Pros: Outdoor Dining, Service, Amazing Food at Great Prices more

Best crabcakes ever... anywhere 6/16/2006

Oh my god. First of all, I never knew that Philadelphia included an area as beautiful and green as Mt. Airy! I had heard about Cresheim Cottage, and finally made the trip down Lincoln Drive. This restaurant is not to be missed! We had the best dinner sitting outside in the garden with a view of the sunset. I had the crabcakes, and my wife had softshell crabs. We were blown away. We also had the Dip Trio, and bread pudding. The food was incredible and the service was awesome. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant! Pros: parking, ambiance, service more

Comeback for New Chef/Owner & Great Food 4/30/2004

The enjoyment of this Mt. Airy landmark's dining experience begins when you walk in the door. Your choices include dining in a cozy downstairs dining room with fireplace, a beautiful sunroom, or and outside patio overlooking a lush green expance, not the traffic-clogged streets of downtown's eateries. Your server will lead you through the expansive wine menu and inform you of the specials. A variety of warm breads are offered. Then your food selection arrives; the plate is artwork the tastes sublime. Blends of visual perfection and palate combine to offer a wonderful eating experience. Leave room for desert, the offerings include selections from the Night Kitchen and Cottage original's. Be sure to try the house made chocolate bread pudding. Dinner, lunch or Sunday Brunch it's time to try or come back to the Cresheim Cottage for a wonderful experience, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Pros: Warm Atmosphere, Wonderful Food, Attentive Service more

Fine Mt Airy dining 8/22/2002

Terrific food and always the right setting for what you want. Having moved to Philly from San Francisco, it's been great to discover the kind of fresh, imaginative cuisine I knew from California...except here you get it all in cozy colonial setting! The Cottage offers a kind of eclectic, casual elegance you only find in Mt. Airy. When it's warm, dine on the patio out back, or when it's cold, inside by the great big hearth. Also a great lunch/brunch spot. more

Our Company Barter Network Inc, Had a event @ Cresheim Cottage for close to 30 people in April of this year. From the food to service to atmosphere is was a Huge Success! We had several clients who traveled from the tri-state area to attend this event and 4 months later we are still getting compliments on the restaurant, food and set up. Many of the clients have returned for dinner several times since!!! Great JOB! more

Yummy eats on my block 8/10/2002

I absolutely love this restaurant! It's very close to my house, and it a joy to go to all year round. I especially like it in the ""eating outdoor"" months, as the outdoor dining is relaxing and beautiful. The food is great. Thanks! more

elegance fused with oldworld charm 8/5/2002

I visited Cresham Village with my Godmother. We both loved the homey yet elegant feel of the restaurant. We visted during the winter months and was thrilled to be seated near their beautiful warm colonial fireplace. The food was excellent! The waitstaff and chef were gracious with their attention and showed genuine interest in our enjoyment of our meal. Cresham Village is a special place to commune with good friends, enjoy great wines and exquisite dining. I cannot wait for my next trip to Philadelphia! more
