Crawford Road Animal Hospital

Now that we have received his ashes back I am going public with our story of our horrible experience and Crawford Road Animal Hospital. Our experience was not with Dr. Forston but with the other vet in the practice Dr. Jeni On Sept 4th 2012 we took my mother's 16 year old retired service dog in to be euthanized. He had a large cancerous tumor on the side of his mouth but his entire body was riddled with cancer and he could not walk on his own anymore. They made us carry him in his crate into the room ourselves, which is not that bad but most places the techs will come carry the dog in on a stretcher. Once we got into the room the tech came in and wanted us to pick him up to weigh him to gauge the dosage of the injection, we told her that picking him up was very painful for him and that he weighed 65lbs at his last vet visit and due to the cancer he was considerably less than that now could they please just dose him at 65lbs and leave him in peace. The answer was no, she then said you can just lift him on that scale right there to which I said ""He will FIGHT it because my mother is disabled and he would never let her pick him up"" so we lifted him crate and all onto the scale and he weighed 55lbs with the crate. Then the tech said I will take him back and put a catheter in, again he could not walk on his own, lifting him hurt him and he would have been very upset at being seperated from my mother so we asked if they could just do it in the room, again the answer was no, so they decided to just inject it straight into his leg. The tech then left to prepare the injection. more

I have never had a problem with this business. They do treat your pets like they are one of their own. And are always willing to work out a budget for your finances. All you have to do is tell them. All of the associats are friendly and professional. I have 3 dogs and have had to take two of them in for injuries that cost more than I had they worked with me so that my babies could be helped. I love this animal hospital more

we have 4 dogs...mostly rescue and have had others in the past that have been taken care of here. We have never felt like they were forcing us to spend money and in fact have been given choices for how to care for our dogs depending on our finances. If you go to a doctor for a check up on a chronic condition, don't you think they will continue to test you to make sure there are no changes to your health? Have you requested that there is a visit only charge? I could not be happier with the care my pets have received and feel that them being taken care of is the most important thing. I do not have "AKC REGISTERED" pets and take very good care of my pets as well, also making sure they receive their annual check ups and regular meds. I have never had anyone there make me feel pressured to spend more money than i had and have been more than pleased with the care we receive..... more

We have been customers of Crawford Road Animal Hospital for 13+ years, They have always taken such wonderful care of our animals. It has never been about the money for them with us. We had a dog that was diagnosed with Diabetes, and if it were not for Crawford Road Animal Hospital and their wonderful staff of doctors we would not have had her as long as we did. The amount of time that they spent with her and with us to help us help her was above and beyond. I do not know about you other people, and we have children, but our animals are a part of our family, and I would spend whatever money I have or will have if it will help my animal. To fuss over a prescription, it is called documentation, and you must have that to justify getting you the med. I have a medical background, and we just can not take your word on a med. I bet if something adverse happened neither one of you would think twice about trying to sue. If this is how you feel this staff are you must be somewhere else. more

I would like to add to Mr. Gerald's review. I also tried to get a prescription for our pet and they said that they would not write it and that I should buy their products. This is insane and very uncalled for. I had been a customer there for almost 3 years, but not anymore! We, for the same reason, asked for a prescription simply because they sopped carrying the brand that we normally bought from them every three months. more

My wife and I have been less than satisfied with the pet care and customer service at Crawford Road Animal Hospital in Phenix City, AL. We own two dogs who are both AKC registered and we have been very adamant about their regular check-ups and health care needs. Additionally, I would like to say that money is not an issue for our family, so please don't think we are writing this review because we are penny pincher's. Although, there is nothing wrong with being tight or conservative with one's money. Since we have been taking our dogs to Crawford Road Animal Hospital, we have always felt as if they were more interested in finding additional services or charges to add to our bill than normal. For example, one of our dogs is 6 years old and has a skin disease which occurs every spring. This disease is very common for the breed of dog we have and has been inherited through the blood line. This has been proved through several blood and skin test. Furthermore, we also got opinions from 3 oth more

Here is a great place to take your pet. They treat you pet like it was theirs Lot of love....Not only do they take care of all your medical needs, keep shots up to date they also have a Groomer. They also have boarding. They are growing so much they are moving the Doctors office to the building next door. It is close to our home and much cheaper than going across town to the big pet chain store. more
