Good thing we had a coupon 4/16/2010

We loved Cravings Cafe in its previous location. Now the new place is cavernous and is no onger BYOB. The new place was empty when we arrived. Our waitress took our drink and appetizer order, but forgot to bring the drinks . The appetizer came which was quickly followed by our shared salad and then TOO quickly followed by our entree. Sometime before the enree we told a different waitress about our drink order. My drink tasted like Robitussin. My husband loved the veal and scallos Francais and my paella was good. Desserts sounded interesting but the waitress said she had to catch a train but we could sit as long as we wanted. Go to Zake's in Fort Washington instead. We are NEVER disappointed there. Pros: entree was good Cons: service, drinks more

Overall Rating (Outstanding) "The food was AMAZING! It was displayed beautifully. I ordered the Station Square Chicken which was delicous! and very tasty the next day. (the portions are very big so go hungry or leave with some food!) The waitress made me a vanilla latte which was perfect. the foam was thick and the vanilla and espresso were so well put together you don't ahve to add anything to it." The menu shows both "regular" dishes as well as a more nouvelle cuisine....in other words, something for everyone. Our entrees ranged from Hot Pear Salad with chicken, to Prime Rib, to Tuna Tartare, to Crab Cakes. The entrees are pleasing to both eye and palate. Drinks are generous and the desserts are scrumptious. Last but not least, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing and the service was excellent. Enjoy!" Review: excellant place to dine Rating: 5 Text: "We have eaten here many times and every time it gets better and better. The ambiance and the service are the best around. The food is always fresh and the owner is very accomadating to whatever you may need. We have booked several parties here and was never disappointed, the food always excellent as usual, and the waiters and waitresses could not do enought to make it a great party. Excellent catering for all your needs. Thanks again to all your staff for a great place to dine and have parties in this area. It quickly became and still is my favorite place to eat. All my friends know that if we are going out to eat in this area there is only one place to go. Wonderful, innovative menu and pleasant servers. I love eating at Cravings!" From: Nancy of North Wales, PA on January 20, 2009 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Rating: 5 Text: "Just a quick review to say I love Cravings. I've loved it since it was a tiny little hidden place. I like that we can eat outside now since they've moved and expanded. It's also nice being able to still BYOB(certain hours though I think) or order a drink. The take-out portions do seen smaller and prices seem a bit higher(understandably) but the restaurant servings and quality don't seem to have been lost. This is definitely a great local find. Try it!" From: Fredrickas of North Wales, PA on June 11, 2008 more

Huge Disappointment! 4/17/2009

I ate here on Easter Sunday with my family (total of 4). There were approximately 3 servers, 2 chefs, and a hostess for a dozen diners. The hostess was busy wandering around setting tables and paid no attention to us even when we were obviously annoyed at waiting long for service. Our waitress spent some time conversing with a couple forgetting that we were waiting to have our order taken. My grandson is 4 so he doesn't have much patience when he is hungry. The lobster crostini appetizer was so salty it was almost inedible. I ordered the roast turkey entree. I believe the turkey was from a package. The mashed potatoes were dry, lumpy and tasteless. My son-in-law ordered the SW eggs benedict. He usually enjoys spicy food but this dish was SO spicy, he could not eat it. And the side of potatoes was cold. My daughter enjoyed her plain eggs benedict entree and my grandson really liked his chocolate ice cream dessert. For a restaurant that wants to appear on the upscale side I was surprised that we had to box the leftovers on our own. I might add that although Cravings is moderately priced it is too much to pay for mostly unappetizing food and lazy service. I would not eat at this restaurant again. Pros: light and open space, convenient parking Cons: poor quality of food and service more

AWEFUL! They owe 14 people their money back. 4/8/2009

The server was incredible rude. We had a table of about 14 people composed of two tables. The server had no idea what wine was what and "sold" mistakes to the customers. "Don't you want this anyway... it is really good". For the record Reisling is NOT red (despite her attempts to tell the person who ordered it differently). The meal was horrendous. Tuna was supposed to have a "crust" but instead was served with the equivalent of mashed potatoes smeared on the outside. Their idea of a "sear" was preposterous. I was never asked how I would like my duck breast. I was served rock hard, hockey puck-like duck pieces. Other folks had dietary requests and were simply denied without any exploration as to if it could be accomadated. I could list 20 more "issues" and this review would not be scathing enough. Save your money and DO NOT GO HERE. They are oblivious to the fact that there are problems with their executions and service. It won't let me give them no stars... so 1 will have to do. Pros: Lovely layout and aesthetics Cons: Terrible execution of food and horrid service more

Wonderful Place 3/24/2009

This place has a great atmosphere that you will not find often. There are nice big windows and beautiful artwork on the walls. The food is delicious and well priced. They include a game room and a bar and very nice, clean restrooms. If given the chance, go and have a good time. more

Okay....but let's not go over board. 10/17/2008

Never trust anyone that throws out a 5 star or a 1 star rating. Only a rare few restaurants are that good or that bad. There has to be an agenda somewhere. I'm delivering the truth. The restaurant is pleasant in a modern pre-fab comminuty kind of way. The building is in a new appartment development and looks like it should be the community meeting house. The dinning room is large with a two story ceiling. They did a fairly good job creating an intimate atmosphere in such a large room. The art work from Target doesn't help, they may want to consider finding local artists in the area to display paintings. The service was very pleasant, attractive and young. I did encounter some small problems and these were handled with tact, grace and a smile. I'm a big fan of BYO's and was disappointed to find out that they are no longer a BYO. Despite that, their beer selection is very nice and they carry Victory beers which is always a plus in my book. Now the food. I ordered a Pan Seared Tuna crusted with Wasabi and Potatoes. It was a generous portion of Tuna, a little on the fatty side, but I wasn't expecting top quality meat. There was the perfect amount of sauce accompanied with the tuna and the wild rice was slightly dry but nothing to criticize. The biggest drawback to the dish was the potato stick topping. They were clearly from a box and not made fresh, they were also stale. Stringed onions or fresh potatoes would have been better. Also, I order Asperagus as a side. I was brought out a plate of 3 skimpy asparagus. I was insulted by such a small portion for the money I was paying. My girlfriend ordered Crab and Chicken drenched in a tomato and cream sauce with raviolis. While the food was flavorful and well made, drenched in sauce is an understatement and it was accompanied with 3 small ravioli, we were expecting a little more balance to the dish. The food was tasty, but nothing spectacular. Price was high but not outrageous Pros: Location, tasty, comfortable dining room, friendly service Cons: disproportionate dishes, not BYO, small side dishes more

Best Food in Town 9/17/2008

I had the pleasure of visiting Cravings on Thursday Sept 11,, the food, well what can I say, the best I have had in Montgomery County....never had a Pear sandwich before... and the sevice,,, outstanding,,, Thank you Samanda for teaching us about the Pear sandwich and Peanut Chicken Salad...... We wanted an after lunch mint,,, so she got one out of her pocketbook ,,,,,, what a place to eat...... Stephney Turner........ Pros: Service more

The name fits it! 9/4/2008

They call it Cravings because you're still hungry when you leave. The sandwiches are 90% thick bread with no filling - overpriced for the portions. Better off going to Wawa. more

Best Place to Eat in the Area 9/3/2007

I was told I HAD to try this restaurant. I went in on a Saturday night with a friend of mine at we sat at the bar. The bartender (Adam) was very pleasant right from the start. We ordered a full course meal right there and settled on what drinks to try. The bartender was extremely helpful in answering our questions and offering suggestions. He convinced us to try a variety of different drinks we hadn't tried before. When the food came out it was served hot and fast. The portions were hearty and the meal itself was to die for. Extremely flavorful and cooked to perfection. Both my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and felt the bar area presented a comfortable yet casual atmosphere. Right down to the staff this place was an A+ for me. I cannot wait to go again and try something new on their menu. Pros: Fantastic atmosphere, beyond delicious food, excellent variety Cons: Brunch could be better; I hope they switch back to serving brunch instead of the buffet, that was too expensive. more

WOW...What a place 9/3/2007

This place is beautiful! We started in the bar due to a busy night for this new place. The bartender; I believe his name was Adam greeted us right away and took our drink order. Sitting there we were able to enjoy our drinks and watch the ball game on tv. My boyfriend was impressed with the bartender and his personality. He was very funny and kept us entertained while we waited for our table. He had a busy bar and seemed to be very attentive to all of his customers. When it was time to sit in the dining room we were blown away. The place is breath taking and the service is fantastic. We had Heather S. as our waitress and she was great. She got us anything we wanted and checked on us often. She was quick and very efficient. We were very pleased with her. Our bill was very affordable for the awesome tasting food we enjoyed. No one wants to miss a night out at Cravings. What a place to eat! The food is so good and the service is unbeatable! Pros: Great place to eat; friendly staff; affordable yet elegant Cons: Honestly cannot think of any more

I Can't Get Enough of this Place 9/3/2007

I just love this place. What a great concept they have of a full service restaurant and a small cafe. I take the train to work so I love having the cafe so close for my morning and after work needs. I have also been in their restaurant several times and cannot believe the food. The menu gives you so much to choose from. I've had their meatloaf which is my favorite meal they have. Their veggies are done perfectly and everything you order is just full of flavor and gets better with every bite. I am not crazy about their brunch service, the food could be much better during this time. I simply love their dinner and lunch menu so I was shocked to find out that both times brunch didn't thrill me. I guess I expected better. I also wonder why they continue to allow BYOB. I guess I just don't get the point of having a full service bar and allowing others to bring in their own beer and wine. Seems to me they're taking away from their own business. But that is just my opinion. I'm happy to order from the bar, the two male bartenders who seem to always be there are always friendly and make my drinks just right! Overall this place is a winner. You'd be crazy not to try it out; you won't get food like this anywhere else in the area. Pros: The best food around by far Cons: Better cooks for brunch service and why the BYOB...I just don't get that part; they have their own bar now more

Great food Great price 8/26/2007

I loved the food - i ordered the Capon with stuffed Portobella mushroom and roasted garlic mashed potatoesand also had the lobster bisque soup which had a lot of lobster in it-my friend ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and broccolli-the plates were overflowing-it tasted awsome-the price was affordable-we ate at the bar-which was very comfortable and watched the Phillies game-the service was excellent.I will definitely go again. Pros: You can have an awsome meal at the bar Cons: needs a little more decoration in the bar more

Fantastic food in Lansdale 7/30/2007

Last night I enjoyed dinner at the new location for Cravings Cafe. As soon as I walked throught the front dorr, I was amazed at how spacious it was. To the right is a very nice bar and to the left (where I had dinner) was a much larger dining room. The service was excellent and the food outstanding. They now have a liquor license and they offer quite a few wines and beers. And trust me, you want to save room for desert. If this website allowed for more than 5 stars, I would certainly give them 10. Thanks for a truly enjoyable evening. Pros: Lots of parking, seated immediately on Monday night, very friendly staff more

Terrific Place 3/24/2006

I cannot believe the negative review which I just read on Cravings. The place is absolutely terrific. I can't say that I'm crazy about the crabcakes (they're decent), but everything else I have ever had there is fantastic. Imagine sandwiches so good you'd bring wine to drink while eating them. I've had several creme brûlée dishes at cravings, all have been excellent. I'm not sure about the dissatisfied customer - but I've eaten at Cravings about 30 times. The chef is a genius! Add to this that Cravings is BYOB and you can dress very casually --- it is an absolute winner. Pros: huge menu, BYOB, great value Cons: a bit warm in summer more

A Great Find 9/28/2005

I'm not sure what the last reader means by his review. We eat at cravings cafe at least once a week and never have had anything but a fabulous meal. Their crabcakes have no filler at all, just lump crab and panco bread crumbs. Everything is always fresh and therir portions very plentiful. I think their pricing is more than fair, you would never get food like this in the city for these prices. We eat out all over montgomery county and this is by far the best place around. It's a nice casual atmosphere and everyone is always friendly. I love their food-you all should give it a try for your self. Open Table Reviews: "The food was AMAZING! It was displayed beautifully. Are you kidding me? 8/9/2005

One mediocre crabcake, a tiny side of under-cooked herb rice, a tiny side of "veggies" (I can't even tell you what vegetables they were because they were so over-cooked, wilted, brown, and tasted like cooking gas), "creme brulee" that I swear was literally nothing more than melted ice cream, are what I wasted my time and money on at Cravings Cafe. I can't believe they had the nerve to serve this food to someone, let alone, charge them for it. Perhaps we should have considered the "Cook wanted" sign to be a warning. Pros: Ecclectic menu Cons: Over-priced, Bad food more
