Went there several times while getting my dog groomed next door. Food is excellent, staff is great, only problem is the place is small and is very dark. I sometimes read the paper and it doesnt work there. overall a high quality place for mexican food. Pros: food, tasty Cons: dark ambiance more

MAMA!!!! 3/11/2008

Great food! Great drinks! Great staff! Coyote Cantina makes me and my guests feel at home every time we dine there. Reservations are a must on the weekends! This place is packed from open to close! New tequillas seem to be available on a weekly basis for you tequilla lovers! more

Best southwestern food on the planet. 1/6/2008

We have been regulars since the days of ""CHAZ"" and Mathew has continued on with a great tradition and excellent food and great drinks and service. A great place to take family and friends from out of town. The margaritas are better than any place in the South Bay and the 40 or 50 different Tequila's make for a lot of testing. (Get a shirt and your name on the wall). The Mexican Lasagna is a must and can be enogugh for two. My favorite is the Carnitas which can be in a burrito or as a entree. Turkey Jalapeno Enchiladas are good any night and the Ahi salad tossed in a Habanero citris dressing (YUM) Pros: Love the people, food and tequila always fun Cons: parking lot but worth the walk more

really good, charming place 12/1/2007

I didn't expect to like this place as much as I do. It's a hidden treasure in the shopping center it occupies. The owner is usually on-site, and is so sweet. Excellent food- I always reccomend this place to friends. Pros: interesting entrees on the menu Cons: i don't know... it's kind of small? more

Really good Mexican food 12/23/2006

I love going to new places so when my friends and I wanted to stay local for food I had to do my citysearch in the South Bay. Unfortunately, the majority of the restaurants in the area aren't rated too well so I was skeptical. Coyote Cantina was rated pretty high so I thought we'd take a chance. Although it's right next to PetCo and it seems like it's a hole in the wall this restaurant is soooo goood. Everything we had was good. Egg rolls for appetizers yummy, my sweet corn ravioli yummy, pineapple quesedilla yummy! Prices were very decent too. I can't believe I've never gone here before I sure will again. Pros: delicious food, good price Cons: decor not that great, pretty full parking lot more

Best Mexican Food 8/24/2006

This place is so great! You would never guess because the location is kind of hidden, but the food is amazing! Drinks are great too! Pros: food, drinks, service more

Best pasta, not the Mexican food though... 7/5/2006

The setting wasn't too bad, the service a bit slow. I went there last night and I asked for the waitress recommendation of what was her favorite, she picked the chicken linguini - creamy chile sauce. Very good, the pasta was al dante, but being in a mexican restaurant you might want to try mexican food right? Well, my friends ordered the burrito grande and the 2 item dish combo. They were just mediocre, they tried mine and agreed that the pasta is far more better than their mexican dishes. Their calamari and the sauce that goes with it were pretty good also, kinda remind me of chef boyardee, but it's not bad. I would go back for the pasta. Pros: parking, pasta dishes Cons: Mexican food, service more

Small but good and fun. 3/30/2006

The place is small but has some of the coolest ""Coyote Art"" I've ever seen. Margaritas were great - try the special, I think it is called White Lightening or something like that. The owner, Matthew, is friendly and the staff is young and prompt. The food is the best part, including the Brie Mango Quesedilla, the Chicken Taco and the Salmon. The rice and beans are NOT traditional mexican and we loved them. The place is packed and loud - don't expect a romantic evening - go fo for the fun!! Pros: Art Work, Food, Vibe Cons: Noise Level, Size more

Great Mexican food! 12/25/2005

Coyote has the best Mexican food and Margaritas in the South Bay more

User review by elenaperez2401 6/3/2005

The food is great my favorite is the fried calamaris and the dipping sauce it comes with. The margaritas are great they have 40 different tequilas to choose from and its a small family restaurant with a great environment. everyone seems very happy and the service is great. I love this place and I cant get enough of it everyone should try it. more

This hidden gem is a must! 5/17/2005

Genuine hospitality, amazingly different Mexican/southwesten food (try the Sweet corn raviolli w/creamy guajillo chile sauce) and ""Silver Lightening"" margaritas, you can't go wrong. Pros: Friendly service, Great food, Free, easy parking Cons: Odd location, Busy (for a reason) more

Unique Menu/Fun 8/25/2004

The weird thing about LA is that many of the best restaurants are located in strip malls, where you would never think of dining. Coyote Cantina is one of them. The food here is really, really good, and if you have to wait to be seated try a margarita while you wait. The menu is not traditional Baja-style or American versions of Mexican food. It's very different and many dishes are sea-food based. I've been here several times and for some reason I am always served free dessert. I don't know if they're just trying to get rid of it or what, but it's always very tasty and a super nice gesture! I came here for the first time for a work get-together 3 years ago and now I love to turn my friends on to this hidden place! Pros: Tasty food, Fun atmosphere, Great Service more

GREAT PLACE! 8/3/2004

This restaurant is one of the best places for dinner with great margaritas. There is more to this place then the normal tacos, burritos, etc. There are some excellent entrees as well!! Margaritas come in different styles and levels from basic to a ""cadillac"". They also have designer sipping tequilas as well. This started quietly in the stripmall next to Petco there, and has grown to a real favorite of a lot of locals. The place is packed every night, so reservations are important. Pros: Great food, Great margaritas more

Good Things Comes In Small Packages! 4/9/2004

Although, the Coyote Cantina is a very small restaurant, the owners welcoming attitude, and the staffs prompt and friendly service were abundantly huge. The aroma, flavor, and taste of each of the entrees were distinctly delicious! To top things off, the manager treated us to a very delicious piece of mud pie with whipped cream topping. The pie was Humm Humm good. If youre looking for great Mexican food, I strongly recommend Coyote Cantina This is one time where a good thing truly comes in a small package. Pros: delicious entrees, Large serving portion, unique mexican entree Cons: , more or louder music, Hard to find-driving more

Howling good value! 6/12/2003

The man that revolutionized neighborhood dining on the Westside with the creation of the original Frito Misto in Santa Monica has done it again... Everything that made that place so wonderful is here too... but in a new and even more exciting flavor. The new Mexican cuisine is dollar-for-dollar the best you will find anywhere... the ambiance is fun and interesting and the service is the friendliest in the South Bay, Viva El Coyote! Pros: Value, Food quality, Friendliness of Staff Cons: Occasional Wait more

""...where everybody knows your name"" 10/8/2002

The fantastic food at this fun, energetic but still hometown feel restaurant is almost overshadowed by the family-style greeting you get at the door AND your table. The owner and servers alike are always smiling and make you feel at home. Top it off with the best margaritas in town and there's no reason to go anywhere else for great alternative mexican. Pros: Margaritas!, Friendly Cons: Loud more
