Council Opticians

Insurance company parred with Council, went in to get my son glasses. Great service, very friendly staff, very helpful with the whole process of picking glasses. What is unbelievable is the wait for the glasses. I went in on a Monday and was told that they would be ready by Friday or Monday the latest. Well now 2 weeks have gone by and every time I call the day keeps getting pushed further and further back. Had I known this was going to be the case I would have deefinately went somewhere else. I am calling my insurance carrier tomorrow and seeing if I can cancel the glasses at this place and go elsewhere, Pros: good customer service Cons: unheard of waiting period/ given the run around more

I went into this business just yesterday to try and purchase contacts, as I recently got a prescription from the Hamburg Council Opticians. I was told that they could only fill the prescription for a specific brand - whatever my Dr. picked for me. Of course there was no brand name on my prescription - Dr.s aren`t supposed to promote specific brands - so they would not fill the prescription ! They also would not call the other office to talk with the Dr. When I told them what brand I had, they said they didn`t carry it there, and therefore could not sell me contacts - even with a recent Council Opticians Prescription. I was told I would need a to go to the other office - despite the fact that it is AGAINST THE LAW TO MAKE YOU PICK A SPECIFIC BRAND !! What`s more, they said if I wanted to choose a different brand from the last one that I CHOSE, I would need to pay for a new prescription ! BTW: The Hamburg office charged me for the contact exam even though my insurance covers eye ware - they justified this by OFFERING to show me a video on how to put contacts in(I have warn them for 15 years). Bottom Line: Council Opticians charges for free eye exams and then won`t fill the prescription for you anyway unless you`ll jump through hoops for them. I also found them to be quite rude and condescending. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!!!! Pros: there door opened properly Cons: they exist more
