Corky's is okay. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere horrid. I'll give you two pieces of advice:\r 1. When outside the US, don't eat where you can hear American voices\r 2. Whe...

Corky's is the BEST! 7/21/2005

Before visiting Mempis I was told by many Memphians that a visit to Corky's should be my top priority. I took thier advice and was very well pleased. The food, as well as desserts, was just what I expected of Memphis BBQ! If you want a good Memphis experience I would recommend including a stop to Corky's. Pros: Inexpensive, Ambiance, Popularity more

Corky's was disappointing 7/10/2005

My family and I were recently in Memphis and made a point of getting BBQ while we were visiting. We spent the morning on Beale St. and decided to go to Corky's for lunch. The atmosphere was more of a take out place. It was very small with only 3 tables. I understand there is a larger restaurant located elsewhere. Regardless, I would not have minded being squeezed in there, if the food had been even remotely good. It was below average when I compare it to other BBQ we have had (and I live in Michigan!) The men behind the counter were not even attempting to be friendly(so much for southern hospitality) and the price was too high for what we received. I am sure Memphis has some great BBQ, but for my money, it can't be found at Corkey's. Pros: short wait Cons: very crowded, unfriendly, average food more

Truly Southern 5/3/2005

Corky's is well-known in the South. Very good bbq and all my visits have been quite pleasant. Affordable eating! I will definitely eat there again. more

Corky is the best 4/10/2005

I love corky's bar-b-q. They take there time with cooking it and seasoning it. The price is okay but it is worth it. You get what you pay for. more

Editorial review from Insider Pages 1/27/2005

The best Bar-B-Q in all TN. There is a Corky's in the Northwest Terminal of the Memphis airport, but it is a shadow of the Poplar location. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing. more

Overrated 5/26/2004

I don't understand why Corky's is always rated as one of the best bbq restaurants in Memphis. I have tried their dry ribs twice and both times I was really disappointed. They are not tender, you have to practically saw them apart. For great bbq in Memphis, I recommend Rendezvous for dry ribs and Jim Neely's Interstate BBQ for wet ribs. Pros: Inexpensive, Fast Service more

Best BBQ 7/17/2003

I've lived in Memphis for over 17 years, and I must say that Corky's BBQ is the only BBQ in Memphis, or the surrounding areas, fit to eat. The service is great; the environment is comfortable and appealing to even the most critical of observers; and the food--all of it--is irresistably delightful, from the onion loaf all the way to the pie. This is the best eating-place in all of Memphis. more

MAN...THAT'S DAMN GOOD BAR-B-Q 6/7/2003

The title speaks for itself!!! Try the Brownie Desert!!! You will thank me later. And they will ship there ""Q"" to your Front Doorstep!! It gets no better than this in Memphis!! Pros: The "Q" of Course, Good Service, The Brownie Dessert more

""A US. Best of BEST"" 12/31/2002

This Memphis barbeque place is definitely some of the best food you'll ever have and one of the prides of the city . The Barbeque is mouth watering and the desserts are delitefully. I recommend this place to everyone even if you have to get it sent Fed Ex, which is done everyday. City Search, check this place out you never taste anything like it again in your life. Pros: Has dine in, dine out, Multiple locations, Available at some gro more

Best Bar-B-Q Born!! 8/11/2002

Put barbecue, pork, and buffet together and the equation is always CORKY'S! The buffet never lacks a choice of something for everyone - dry ribs, wet ribs, pulled pork, barbecue chicken, deliciously fresh cole slaw, corn-on-the-cob. And hot, fresh rolls that compliment the meal to a tea! I can never leave there without having made at least two trips 'round the bar....and I'm a small person!! Just drive by sometime. The aroma in the air will pull you straight to the front door. And you can bet you won't leave without a smile and a satisfied tummy! Pros: Music is upbeat!, Relaxed atmosphere, Catering! Cons: Could be roomier more

Passing thru 8/7/2002

I guess about two times now I have been on a NWA flight and stopped over in Memphis. I saw the Corky's BBQ inside the terminal and was curious as to what the food was like. I have always loved BBQ and thought I should try some from where some say the home of BBQ is. After the long line and attitude from the cashier, I finally got my Rib Sandwhich. It taste OK, but I can't say it was the best. I may have to try again in a regular Corkys that doesn't have to rush their BBQ. Cons: Long Line, Cashier is moody, Lil Expensive more

Comfortable BBQ joint 5/29/2002

This place packs in the crowds -- every night is a wait, but weekends are ridiculous. The ""Q"" is terrific and the place is fun and comfortable. Bring the kids and don't worry about dressing up. Don't even try to eat healthy -- get the ribs and the gigantic fried onion loaf and dessert. Live a little. Pros: Great BBQ Cons: Always packed more
