Gerald has been doing my hair for several years now. I recommend him highly. When I first met Gerald, I was suffering through a horrible haircut, and a haircolr that never seemed quite right for my skin tones. After having a long consultation with him, I felt confident that he would do his best to help get my hair back to looking great. My hair is now a color that looks natural and shiny. What a treasure! He creates beautiful cuts, but what he does with color is magical. I often receive compliments on how natural my color and highlights look. Gerald Popko had been doing my hair for nearly 10 years. I have never had anything but a positive experience with Gerald. He is courteous, kind, and thoughtful. He has the ability to make me feel pampered. I know that I am always going to get the absolute best hair color and cut when I go to him. I have not let anybody else touch my hair during the past 10 years and dread moving away when I retire in 4 more years. I discovered Gerald only a few short years ago (7), and feel that my prayers have been answered. After years of traveling the globe, and attempting to find someone who understood my needs, I was referred to Gerald through an old friend. From my first appointment, I knew that he had not only the talent, but the patience to listen to and understand my needs. I have tried to find a hairstylist in Paris, New York, Miami, etc., only to find that Gerald is right here in my hometown of Baltimore. Instead of scheduling my trips to include appointments to find someone to care for my hair. I now arrange for my appointments for when I am at home, eliminating the mystery of the outcome. With Gerald, it is always a relaxing and pleasurable experience to have my hair done. The way that it should be. I receive so many compliments on my hair, and feel truly beautiful after leaving my appointment. Fortunately, he is close by, but I 'd literally follow him ANYWHERE. more

Gerald has been my hairstylist for for 12 years. I discovered Gerald shortly after he relocated to Baltimore from Miami. I can't compliment him enough to express my complete satisfation with his skills and ability to always keep my hair looking nothing short of FABULOUS! I feel truly fortunate to have found Gerald Popko 10 years ago when I was looking for a stylist!! I travel from Northern Virginia to Baltimore every 8 weeks for Gerald to place a base color on my hair, add a full head of blond highlights, and cut my hair. Everywhere I go, I get compliments on my cut, color, and hairstyle. Gerald is truly the most exceptional stylist whom I have ever known. He is a gifted artist. Not only is Gerald professional and talented, but also, he is one of the kindest and most personable individuals I have ever met, and I am honored to know him. I really enjoyed getting my hair done with Estela. She gave me a great cut and some really vibrant fuschia highlights which get me a lot of complements. Not only is she great at doing hair, but she's quite sweet and very willing to make sure you look good and are satisfied. The rest of the staff are also very friendly and accommodating. It's a very relaxing atmosphere, even when it seems busy. Also, I recommend the nail and waxing services if you ever want to do a makeover day. more

I am new to COrbin........ I remember Jenna years ago when the salon was located on University. She has a sense of style... i appreciate. Funky, Classy..... She listened to what I want. Now, I have returned...! And I am Happy I DID! My cut is beautiful... I felt inspired to write a review after.... 3 weeks...... Because MY RED is still vibrant...... the color line is clean and as safe as most organic color lines....... I asked Jenna to let me read ingredients... as im sensitive to color...... I itch or become red... This line did not make that happen either...because it offers no PPD no ammonia! :) The SALon is beautiful too! and my shampoo was lovely... the lady at the front desk was sweet too...... enjoy! more

Funny, I used to live in NYC so when I moved to Bmore I still went up to my stylist--too afraid to switch. But when I went to Gerald, I not only knew that I did not need to return home but that I would go to Gerald wherever I was! He is superb--my hair loves picture perfect and the style lasts so long. Wonderful. Pros: Gerald Popko is truly the best stylist and colorist. more

I just tried the Corbin salon and I received one of the worst haircuts of my life. I used to go to Edward Amato, which recently closed. My usual stylist went to Corbin but when I requested her I was told she no longer worked there (that should have been a warning sign). I made an appointment with Corbin but when I got there I was handed off to another stylist. I told her what I wanted, which was the same cut I currently had, only a little shorter. I said I wanted it kept 'shaggy' a little long in back (same length as the rest of the hair), and I wanted to keep the front longer because I wear it to the side. The rest I wanted trimmed to about a 3 inch length. Well, she cut it all very short and I told her not to cut the front anymore. She said ok, and then proceeded to buzz the back. I told her I didn't want the back buzzed and she said it would be better for me because 'the back grows faster' and this way ' I wouldn't have to get my hair cut as often.' Now it's buzzed so high and short I have stubble on the back of my neck. Then she returned to the front of my hair and cut another inch off. She also buzzed around the ears and buzzed my sideburns almost to the top of my ears. When I got home I noticed that one side angles up and the other side angles down, but they are already so high I really cant correct them. Aesthetically the salon itself is like any other, nothing 'New York' about it. In fact, it has a slightly dingy strip-mall look to it, with tacky, beat-up, furniture with that mid-90's trying-to-be-chic look. Corbin himself had that euro-trash look going, with an over-sized ""D&G"" beltbuckle to let people know he's 'fashionable.' On the upside, the haircut was cheap ($35), and when I told the receptionist about my experience she relayed it to the manager who refunded my money. However, I am stuck with this generic, poorly chopped, cookie-cutter haircut and the frustration that the salon would employ someone who lacks the ability to execute a basic haircut. Pros: Relatively Cheap, Polite Manager Cons: Bad Haircut, Poorly Trained Stylists, Dingy Atmosphere, Outdated Furniture, A VERY BAD EXPERIENCE more

Corbin Salon is the premiere salon in Baltimore. It is a ""little piece of NYC"" in Baltimore. Corbin is ""the Master"" and his team are just as fabulous. There is NOTHING else like it in Baltimore or D.C. I have been to every supposed ""high end"" salon from here to D.C. In reading the prior negative posting, (obviously written by a true Baltimooron), it must have been written by a bitter former employee or current bitter client! The only explanation for so-called frequent ""turnover"" of staff is Corbin DOES NOT EXCEPT less than perfect! Anyone who goes to a hair salon or who is in the business can quickly figure out, good stylists are very hard to find! Corbin remains passionate about his craft and expects the same from ALL employees! I have known him for 20 years. COrbin is the same caliber as Frederick Fekkai, Ken Pave, etc., etc., and worth every penny! Do not except substitutes or listen to bitter commentary by obvious idiots! Pros: Valet & underground parking. more

I spend much of my time away from Baltimore, and have tried many times to get a great haircut elsewhere, but I have been spoiled by Corbin. It took me years to find someone this good, and I will continue to return here for as long as he is still cutting hair. more

Okay. Quality cuts? Usually (though overpriced). A good blow-out? Yeah. As a client of over five years though, I must say that despite the obvious talent, the character of the salon and of Corbin himself has been on a slow deterioration. Clearly my persistence over the years proves that he, and the salon have earned my trust, but my last few visits proved to be less than I'd expected, and even less than satisfactory. His flamboyance as an artist, which to his credit had always worked for him, has mutated into a level of precision that leaves much to be desired, and his volatility when relating with his staff (which, seems to be the reason for so much turnover), and arrogance as an owner has become a deterrant for anyone in search of that comfortable, no-pressure, punctual, upscale setting. So will I still go for my regulars, maybe (old habits die hard), but with hopes for the ""old"" corbin salon to return. more
