I was raised a Christian but in recent years haven't gone to church quite as often as I should. On Christmas Eve, my family and I decided to go to Coral Ridge's candlelight service. Now, I could be wrong, but the two most popular services I know are Christmas Eve and Easter. People who go to these types of services aren't looking to go away feeling like God hates them. However, Dr. Kennedy that night decided to proclaim to the congregation that "if at any time in your life you've ever doubted God, then you're going to hell" (or at least such was said in a matter of words. Now it's one thing to take a positive approach and say "only those who believe will be taken into heaven", but it's another thing to essentially tell most people that they're going straight to hell for not having perfect faith. Any thoughts I had of returning to church at that point were immediately removed. I hope that God someday judges Dr. Kennedy accordingly - much in the same way he judged the congregation that night. Who knows how many souls he may have tossed aside just by uttering those few simple words.
