Great evening 3/10/2011

My husband and I celebrated his birthday with our 4 adult children. It was one of the best dinners out that we have had in a long time. The setting, ambiance and location is hard to beat. We had cocktails, lots, appetizers, dinner and dessert for less than $75 a person. Last week my husband and I went to Oceans Club and the bill for 2 was $300. The food, filets, pork osso bucco, veal milease, crab cakes were all delish. Happy hour was rockn when we got there, looking forward to the next time. Great to have a first class restaurant in Fountain Hills. more

World-Class Dining, World-Class Views 5/30/2010

I live part-time in New York City and part-time in Fountain Hills. I dine out frequently, and it is easy to get spoiled in New York, home to some of the world's top restaurants. I have frequented Alchemy several times now, and my experiences were consistently outstanding. I believe the service, food and atmosphere are all top-notch. Doug, Tim and the others I have met there are very professional, courteous and friendly. Once, I had a pork osso-bucco that is among the best meals I have ever had. I believe the prices are attractive, given the quality of the food and the overall experience. Pros: Views and personal, courteous service Cons: Eagerly awaiting Sunday brunch seatings more

Great Food, Great Service, Fair Prices 5/29/2010

I have eaten at Alchemy several times since they re-opened, and am thrilled to have them in Fountain Hills. I love the cozy ambiance in the bar area, especially in the winter when the fireplace is blazing. The food is excellent, as is the service. I am surprised at some of the reviews below, one of which mention the "cheap seats" -- we have sat in every section of the restaurant and can't imagine what seats they are referring to, as there is no area that feels "cheap". As for the other review that outlined their costs, they all seemed reasonable to me -- you can't get food of that quality any cheaper in the area. And we have found many excellent bottles of wine there for significantly less than $195 a bottle! Their 7 at 7 wine and food specials in the bar are an excellent value. Pros: Resort Dining without the Travel Cons: No Sunday Brunch Yet, but we remain hopeful more

Terrible service 4/4/2010

My husband and I had a 7:15 reservation. We arrived on time and were seated. I felt like we were placed in the "cheap seats", quite frankly. It was an odd table in the middle of a big open space, with no views. We waited for 20 minutes. No one took a drink order. Multiple individuals were busy around our table, chatting amongst themselves and configuring tables. Sorry, to spend a couple of hundred dollars, I expect some service. We got up and walked out. I suspect they barely noticed! We went to White Chocolate Grill and the food was better, with the exact same bottle of wine we planned to order for $12 dollars less! Pros: None Cons: Everything! more

New and Much Improved Resturant! 3/7/2010

I read some of the negative reviews and noticed that nearly all of them occurred before the restaurant closed in March 2009. I highly recommend trying the new & much improved Alchemy.? We went to the newly re-opened Alchemy one evening for our wedding anniversary and decided to eat in the Wine Bar area. We got a table near the beautiful fireplace and ordered chocolate martinis. Then we ordered 3 small plates on the $7 till 7 menu, where you have your choice of 7 small plates for $7.00 each until 7:00 pm. We ordered the duck confit quesadilla, the tomato, mozzarella, & pesto pizzarette, and the pork sliders. Everything was delicious. Our waitress, Stacey, was very friendly, knowledgeable & efficient. The bartender, Steve, walked over to see how we liked our martinis. And the manager came over to see how we were doing. By the way, no one knew it was a special occasion for us. We will definitely be back many more times! Pros: Great Wine Bar more

Horrible service. Not worth the price or the drive to Fountain Hills 3/3/2009

Went to dinner here on Valentine's Day. After we were seated didn't see our server for 15 minutes. Only saw server twice more throughout the entire dinner, and one of those times included when he brought the check. Had to repeatedly ask bussers for drinks, bread, silverware, etc. Took entirely too much time to serve each course considering the fact they had a special occasion menu with limited selections. Felt like we were being held hostage for 2 hours. Food was decent, but not for the price or the service level or the fact that we had to drive all the way to Fountain Hills. I even filled out a comment card with my name, email, phone number with no follow up. Only after I emailed Alchemy through their website did the GM call me. He promised to mail me some sort of gift card for future use, but of course he never sent anything. So the phone conversation was another waste of my time and further reinforced that Alchemy is not what they advertise. They tout themselves as a fine dining establishment, but if you want a true fine dining experience go to Elements at Sanctuary on Camelback. Better food, less expensive, and superior service. Pros: none Cons: horrible service, overpriced more

Great views 2/21/2008

Amazing views, food was wonderful & the service was attentive. Had a lovely lunch there recently, we sat outside & had a wonderful time. more

Terrible customer service...wait staff rude and false and fake/food was edible but I've had alot 9/7/2006

better @ Carrabas...for 85.00 we got terrible service..treated like we were aliens from another planet and we live in Fountain Hills...I wouldn't waste my money or time...you'd think that they'd give you better service...next time I'm going to make reservations...put $20.00 on both my forhead and my husbands and just maybe we'll get better service...but guess what after they deliver the water...we're walking out...can't wait to do that to them...called the head waiter tonight and he said that they were short staffed...always excuses...let me know what we can do for you??? What I ask...making excuses...had to ask to have just our coffee and iced tea refilled...Go to Carrabas' in Scottsdale for 1/3 the cost and the food there is excellent and so is the wait staff...They show up at your table and fill up your beverages without saying a word... SO DON'T GO TO ALCHEMY AND WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME...FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THE ROOMS ARE SO SMALL YOU CAN'T EVEN GET AROUND IN THEM...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE LIKE GAINEY RANCH IN SCOTTSDALE OR THE BILTMORE FOR THE SAME MONEY OR LESS AND GET BETTER SERVICE... more

"Rise Above It All" 6/12/2006

The Alchemy restaurant at CopperWynd Resort is hard to find but well worth the search! At the Highest point overlooking Fountain Hills and with the Mountain ranges in the distance it is truly awesome! The service is professional and the food is tasty with wonderful flavors and artistically presented. When the patio doors are open to the mountainside air it becomes a true treat for all the senses! Simply wonderful! Pros: Ambience, service, food Cons: A bit of a climb after parking your car more

Editorial
  • In Short
Perched in the McDowell foothills, this resort restaurant has floor-to-ceiling, sliding-glass doors. When they're closed, the room is abuzz with loud chatter. Opened, they reveal the quiet natural splendor beyond. True to its name, the menu features different flavors (think French, Italian, Middle Eastern and Asian). Menu items include The Tuscan panzanella (bread salad), pork tenderloin, saffron couscous salad and the white chocolate bomb (a fist-sized Chambord truffle filled with white chocolate mousse).
