Best martini's in the area 4/3/2009

A nice place to take somebody out on a date. Great ambiance and very stylish. If you're into martini's, make sure to have Nick make them for you. He has a knack of knowing exactly how much to mix to make every drink seem just right. This place could be considered a little pricey, but it's not like I'm going here all the time. A pleasure to have tried. Pros: Martini's, Ambience, Stylish Cons: A bit pricey more

top 3 NJ dining experiences 2/14/2008

For dinner last night, Le Rondez-vous got nixed in favor of a brand new restaurant that opened up at the Westin Inn (walking distance from our house) as part of a recent renovation. Copeland. No question in the top 3 NJ dining experiences we?ve had .?\r Decor had a modern/minimalist feel with some Japanese influences? very nice. Background music was an upbeat eclectic mix, although kind of clubby at times. Service was good but certainly not their strong point. The food was outstanding. New American cuisine with surf and turf specialties. 5 course tasting menu for $59 pp. Nice variety of affordable wines. \r The bar is interesting too? small with a swanky feel. That?s right? I said swanky.\r For what it?s worth, here?s what I think?.\r Food 27, Decor 24, Service 21\r \r \r Pros: 5 course tasting menu Cons: music was an upbeat eclectic mix, although kind of clubby at times more

Fabulous Dinner Experience! 7/4/2006

My boyfriend took me to Copeland for my Birthday this past weekend at the Governor Morris Hotel. Who knew what a fantastic restuarant was hidden inside. The place itself is beautiful and romantic. They had one of our favorite wines so we ordered a bottle. The appetisers were filling and delicious. I had the 'shrimp two ways' and my boyfriend had two varieties of oysters. For mine, there were three shimp searved coctail style and the fourth was diced and mixed with tomatos and herbs and served in a glass - like a shrimp salad. It was so fresh and tasty. I could not even eat all four shrimp (which my boyfriend was happy about so he got try one). The timing between meals was good - and the service was excellent as well. For dinner, I had the lamb and he had the filet mignon with braised short ribs, we also ordered the mashed potatos and spinach with garlic. The meats were so tender, cooked perfectly and just melted in our mouths. The potatos were so creamy - I don't know how they did it. And the braised ribs - the meat was so tender and the sauce was amazing. Since it was my birthday, they brought out a chocolate flourless cake with sauce and icecream - on the house. It was wonderful. I cannot wait to go back and try something else. This is definitely a special occassion place but it was not too expensive that I wouldn't go back on any old weekend night! Highly recommend!! Pros: Food, ambience more

What a Find 8/15/2005

Not the easiest place to find, but when you do, wow! (It's inside the Westin Gov Morris.) A great dining room that's large but well sectioned so you don't notice. I spied a beautiful wine room too. Very comfortable furniture. The chef has been around- was at the Manor a while back and is German- surprising because he does American food so well. I loved the Marlin and the Filet Mignon. Saw some huge raw platters go by but I was already on my main course...next time. The wine list is great, mainly American with a lot of variety and not too expensive. Cocktails are excellent too. Loved the Ginger Martini. Happy hour is Thurs/Fri so I have great incentive to go back too. Staff a bit chatty but very helpful. This has got to be one of the top places in NJ. Pros: Great Food, Stylish & Comfortable, Fantastic Drinks Cons: Over-eager staff more
