My boyfriend took me to Copeland for my Birthday this past weekend at the Governor Morris Hotel. Who knew what a fantastic restuarant was hidden inside. The place itself is beautiful and romantic. They had one of our favorite wines so we ordered a bottle. The appetisers were filling and delicious. I had the 'shrimp two ways' and my boyfriend had two varieties of oysters. For mine, there were three shimp searved coctail style and the fourth was diced and mixed with tomatos and herbs and served in a glass - like a shrimp salad. It was so fresh and tasty. I could not even eat all four shrimp (which my boyfriend was happy about so he got try one). The timing between meals was good - and the service was excellent as well. For dinner, I had the lamb and he had the filet mignon with braised short ribs, we also ordered the mashed potatos and spinach with garlic. The meats were so tender, cooked perfectly and just melted in our mouths. The potatos were so creamy - I don't know how they did it. And the braised ribs - the meat was so tender and the sauce was amazing. Since it was my birthday, they brought out a chocolate flourless cake with sauce and icecream - on the house. It was wonderful. I cannot wait to go back and try something else. This is definitely a special occassion place but it was not too expensive that I wouldn't go back on any old weekend night! Highly recommend!!
