Poor service and mediocre food. 8/19/2008

My husband and I recently moved to Scranton from Washington, D.C. and went to Cooper's for my birthday. The food was pretty bad and the service was worse. I ordered crab cakes which I did not eat and my husband's salmon was a only little better. It took our waitress about 45 minutes after we finished eating to complete our service and allow us to leave. I would not recommend this restaurant. more

Got To Get My Cooper's Fix! 7/9/2008

I have to get my Coopers "fix" once a month! Coopers has by far the best seafood in town! I don't even like oysters but I gladly eat them here. The food is always cooked to perfection. They are so consistent . The appetizers are so varied and all so good that it is very difficult to decide, but try them all you won't be dissappointed. Everything on the menu is worth trying for that matter but my favorite is the crab bisque! The quality and taste are simply unsurpassed. The restaurant in Scranton has the most ambiance but I visit both of them all simply for the great food. If you like seafood this place will quickly become you favorite restaurant. I have a girlfriend that surprised her husband for his birthday by driving him to Scranton from Philly just so they could go to Cooper's for his bday dinner! That's how good this place is! more

Our Favorite Stop! 7/8/2008

My wife and I travel from Canada to Florida each year and Cooper's is our favorite stop. The crab bisque, and coconut shrimp are our favorite appetizers and for a entree we always try something new. We have never been disappointed. The atmosphere and staff are top notch! 5 stars. Can't wait to go back. W&B more

Best seafood in the area 11/15/2005

Coopers is the best seafood restaurant in the area, in my opinion. That may not be saying much since there really are not too many seafood restaurants around here. In any case, I almost always enjoy my meal at Coopers. It is a bit pricy, but that is pretty common for seafood. I have found that the wait time is a drawback at this restaurant. In my experience on the weekends, you really can end up waiting quite a while for a table on the weekends, even though the place is huge. They have a nice bar area also. more

Coopers Seafood House (Scranton) 9/25/2005

I have been frequenting Cooper's for many years. On my last several visits, I was disappointed with the wait (3 hours, as they don't take reservations) and this was further coplicated because a portion of my part was had not arrived yet, and Cooper's would not even give me the "pager box" until the entire party arrived. Well, the food is good, but in my opinion the quality has gone down some over the past 5 years, and they do offer one of the best beer menus out there, so aside from the pre-meal hassels, Cooper's is a good place to eat. more

Great atmosphere, OK food 8/14/2005

The part about Cooper's that I enjoy the most is the atmosphere. The outside of the restaurant looks like a giant ship with an Octopus draped over it. The inside has lots of great memoribilia and games to play. The food is OK, for the few times that I have been there. I think its a little overpriced since it has its 'ship' themed claim to fame to draw people in. There is a pretty nice bar for happy hour, with a decent liquor collection. Although it is usually pretty crowded, unless you go at a really bad time you won't have to wait long because the place is huge! more
