Excellant Vet 10/19/2011

We have been using Cooley Animal Clinic for over 10 years. We are on our second pet (Golden Retriever) with Dr. Cooley and have found he and his staff to be friendly and cordial, yet professional in every respect. My wife's sister also has brought her dogs to Dr. Cooley and has experienced the same kind of reception and service that we have experienced. Over the years I have developed a complete confidence in Dr. Cooley and would entrust any of my future pets to him. I have found his rates for service to be competitive with other animal clinics in Northwest Indiana. And now, we have begin to bring our dog to Cooley's for grooming. Our dog is a registered Therapy Dog so we try to keep him looking at his best, getting him groomed about every six weeks. Besides Cooley's providing a great grooming, if the groomer detects any anomaly Dr. Cooley is right there to acess the situation. All in all, my wife and I rate Cooley Animal Clinic with Five Stars, will continue taking our pets there and recommending others do the same. Kudos to Dr. Cooley and his entire staff. more

Excellent Animal/Family Pet Care 4/11/2011

Cooley Animal Clinic has the most caring professionals I have had the pleasure of working with. I highly recommend them to everyone I know. All our experiences during our 30 year association with Cooley Animal Clinic have been very positive. Dr. David Cooley started caring for our fur babies in 1981 and in 1991, Dr. Tracy Cooley joined the medical staff. Dr. Melissa Dickinson has joined the staff recently and shows the same professionalism and the same caring nature. The staff is very knowledgeable and up-to-date with the latest treaments, techniques and medical information. You know they are all truly animal lovers and their sincerity shows. They are always monitoring the waiting room to ensure the safety of all their clients. \r The support staff is well trained and has been with Dr. Cooley for many years. \r Trust your pets to Dr. Cooley, Dr. Dickinson and the entire staff and I believe you will be very happy with the loving, gentle care your pet receives. He has done wonderful things for my babies. I know they are always getting the very best treatment with gentle, loving care. more

Not nice, and way too expensive! 9/16/2010

Being new to the area, we didnt know where to bring our dog when we needed more heartworm medication. The sign for this place is cute, so it caught my wife's attention. We brought our dog in and were sadly disappointed with what we found there. They told us that our dog needed to get his shots (which we knew), and then proceeded to charge us over $600 to give him everything he needed! Having now gone to a different animal clinic, we were told that half the stuff they did to our dog was unnecessary and really over priced! Cooley charges way too much, and they dont even seem to care about the pets themselves, not even saying 'Hi' to the dog or seeming to care about him. All these negative reviews are completely accurate- stay away!!! more

Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy... 2/26/2010

I really wish I could give Cooley 0 stars, or even negative stars. Unfortunately neither is an option. My cat was recovering from severe Anemia. I had spent tons of time and money with the emergency shelter on blood transfusions to keep him alive. I brought him back to Cooley, my normal vet, for followups after that to make sure he stayed healthy. Instead they made it much worse. They sat on his test results for 10 days before modifying his medication accordingly or notifying me that they had the results of the blood tests the emergency clinic ran. After 3 weeks of my cat vomiting immediately after eating Cooley is sitting there scratching their head wondering why. I consulted Highland Animal Hospital and the doctors there knew immediately what was wrong with my cat. Although I can't prove it, the negligence on Cooleys part not paying attention to the test results and not being cautious of the medication they were having me administer and cognisant of the developments in my cats health they caused , or at least FAILED to prevent the development of an esophogeal stricture in my poor sweet cat. Here I am with a cat that made it through an epic battle with severe Anemia and he can't eat because Cooley SCREWED UP!!!!! DON""T GO TO COOLEY. Dr Cooley doesn't care about your pets and the entire practice is unorganized and is ONLY a business. It blows my mind to think that someone could go into the field of veterinary medicine and care so little about their patients... Because of Cooley's negligence I need to spend about $2,000 to keep my cat from starving to death. Thanks for nothing Cooley Animal Clinic. Pros: They won't kill your pet right in front of you... Cons: They don't care about you, or your pet, just your money. more

Cooley Animal Clinic Gives Caring, Gentle Care 12/5/2008

I have been bringing my doggie to Cooley Animal Clinic for over four years. Because she has needs to be checked frequently, we are there a lot. My experience has always been of the highest professional level with the Doctors, and I have ALWAYS been shown care and courtesy by the whole staff. I lost my other dog because of negligence at another animal clinic, so am very weary of leaving her with anyone. I have experienced nurturing and gentle care by all at Cooley Animal Clinic. They all go the extra mile to give her treatment of the highest quality. The office is extremely clean, attractive, comfortable while waiting, and the atmosphere is always friendly and pleasant. The staff is very watchful of the pets and those bringing them for treatment. They monitor those coming and going so there is no danger to any of the animals or children and adults who are waiting. Sometimes we are asked to go to the other side of the waiting area, but this is for our own protection and that of our pets. I never experienced such care and courtesy at any other veterinary clinic! Pros: NurturingCare, Courteous, Convenient Cons: None! more

Happy with service. 1/25/2008

I have taken my two cats to Cooley ever since I got my oldest one in 2001. I have been very happy with the service. I currently have moved to another state which is why I am unable to take my cats there now. I work for a vet clinic were I live now and I will hopefully be moving back to Indiana sometime soon. The office staff are all wonderful. Keep up the great work. more

Rude 8/10/2007

I took our cat for her shots and after one visit, I can honestly say I will not be taking her or any animals we will have in the future to Cooley Animal Clinic. Upon arrival the vet came out and gruffly told my children to back up into the furtherest section of the waiting room. I was then told that they didn't accept checks on the first visit (I was not told this) so I told her I'd call my husband to get the visa number from him. As soon as I hung up, I had another office member approach me to tell me to turn off my cell phone in the office. V. embarrassing -- I told her the other lady was aware of me using it for the purpose that they never told me about checks. Not that I should have had to explain ... Then when we took our cat back, the vet came in and he was again, less than cordial. He barked at my children to sit down. He brought shots into the room and they were moving so they could get a look at what he was doing he barked at them again. He then told us that we shouldn't have contact with our cat today because of the medicine and my 10 yr old just said, ""Why?"" and the vet barked ""BECAUSE I SAID SO"". I mean, come on... he did then go on to explain that he didn't want the medicine being rubbed off. It was just really a very unpleasant visit beginning to end. There were various other small things as well. All 3 of my children want to be a vet when they grow up and for them to go into an office with this kind of attitude really is disheartening. We usually take our animals to Highland Animal Clinic. I told my aunts about what happened and they said Cooley was well known for such a rude atmosphere. I figured I'd take her to Cooley because they are only about 3 minutes from my house. Well, I'll drive the extra 8 minutes to Highland next time back to where they speak to you with respect and appreciate your business. Cons: rude rude rude more

Pet lovers 6/7/2006

I took my cats here from the very beginning. We got their initial checkups, shots, spay, neutering, declawing, etc. Even when the cats were sick, Cooley and Barenie were very helpful. The rates are reasonable and the staff is pleasant. The location is convient to where i live in Highland. Highly recommended! more
