1.95 Happy Hour... Can't argue with that 11/4/2006

I have been to Contour a couple of times for Happy Hour. They have a great 1.95 menu. The items I have tried are Provolone Cheeseburger and Fries(Good), Gruyere Mac & Cheese (Great-choice of shrimp or chicken with it), Jack Daniels BBQ chicken wings (Okay-prefer hot wings, but my wife really liked these), Calamari Rings with a couple dipping sauces (Very Good), Lamb Kebabs (Wife says they were okay- I don't care much for lamb). Other items on the menu (I grabbed a paper menu to write this) include Rosemary Battered chicken strips, dill battered button mushrooms, Hand battered zucchini fries, Spanakopita, two soups, chicken skewers and some dips w/ bread. The only catch is a $2 minimum drink order per food item. There is also a $2 beer which makes it easy to balance. Plenty of other drinks available. Take a look at the specialty drinks. you're saving a bunch on the food. Happy hour is a generous 3-8 PM m-f and 2-8 PM on weekends. Enjoy more

Contour Rocks, Unless You Dislike Germans 7/8/2006

Lookit, this place is 2 blocks from my house and you really can't beat that. Granted, every morning I curse Contour as I walk by it on the way to work and smell the previous night's revelry stewing in the morning sun. That said, Contour is the least sketchy after-hours club I have see in SF or Boston. Even at 3am, when most patrons arrive, this place is somewhat classy in its decor and demeanor. What's more, there's an awesome food cart outside hawking frankfurters boiled in and garnished with sauerkraut. Buy a dog, take an outdoor seat and watch the drunks pick fights with eachother. Alternativly, go inside and dance to german-sounding music. Despite the late hour, the crowd is not too aggro. Surprisingly, this place also has the most bustling happy hour scene in the pioneer square/1st ave area...worth a try. heck, it's $10, get a job already. more

Club with no Identity, BUT known for After Hours!! 3/1/2006

The Contour is a strange amalgamation of lost identities. It is hard to say just what the Contour is or what crowd they are aiming for. The Contour is a fairly small club located on First Avenue on the outskirts of Pioneer Square. Legal capacity is only about 199 and that might even be stretching it a little. Contour has been known for a number of things, one of the longest running live hip-hop shows in Seattle, happy hour, after hours action, and that's about it. Monday nights have always been live hip-hop night at Contour for the longest time. It is a pretty small crowd but they are all regulars and fairly respectful of each other without too much incident. Contour Happy Hour is very good and there is a very eclectic selection of foods on the short menu. Prices are great (less than $2) for food items and they usually have at least one beer also for $2 or less during Happy Hour. It is a decent selection and really depends on your style and taste. If you want to hang around the "just off work" crowd then Contour is a good bet, if you want a little break from the office go check out the best Happy Hour in Seattle only two blocks up first McCormick and Schmicks. Contour at night is VERY hit or miss, sometimes you might find a mediocre DJ spinning decent tracks, some days you might be so alone you decide to tend bar yourself. The crowds never really build here as the Contour is on that vital edge of Pioneer Square and they are not part of joint cover. So it is hard to justify paying ANY cover for a small bar with a small crowd when you can walk 100 feet and go to 9 bars for the same cover price. Contour after hours is and always will be popular. The Contour features fire dancers, dj's and for the tweakers out there visual displays and lasers. Obviously catering to the pill popping candy kids and the all night tweakers the after hours scene is what it is. If that is your thing then you are probably safer here than you other options (Mantra and Fenix) and you might have more fun here. If you are a psych grad student and want to people watch or do research on drug abuse and it's affects on people, this is your after hours fishbowl. more

an old haunt 12/29/2005

Friends of friends started me going here. It can get a bit sleazy on the weekends, but it's such a great space that who cares? Afterhours is hopping, pours are strong, and most of my favorite locals have spun here. If you want some serious culture shock, check out Saturday's Russian night. more

Editorial
  • In Short
Contour draws an eclectic mix of Pioneer Square overflow and scantily-clad clubbers. What this club lacks in size, it makes up for in dedication to partying. The narrow, high-ceilinged space houses a bar and a small dance floor and the place is open all night Friday and Saturday. DJs spin house music that ranges from progressive to deep, and live music ranges from jazz fusion to trance.
