Editorial review from Citysearch 7/14/2012

I have gone to this restaurant since I was 10 years old (14 years). I have traveled to 26 states and never tasted a better gyro than at the Continental Corner. I can't speak for any of their other dishes simply because the first thing I ever ordered (Royal Gyro Plate) was so incredibly amazing I didn't think it was possible to top it. The pita bread is fresh pita bread like you will get no where else. The cream sauce is the best I have ever had, I have tried to recreate it and can't. Their gyro meat is as good as it gets. Since I moved away 2 years ago I have been trying to learn to cook greek because I can't find a restaurant that meets my expectations.. Continental Corner set the bar high. ALSO: Their sweet tea is AMAZING.. I did figure out how to make it but don't worry I won't tell. BEST GREEK FOOD! more

One of my all-time favorites!! 2/13/2012

Wow. Where to even begin? First, I should say that I am in no way affiliated with the owners, but almost feel like part of the family, given that my first visit was as a child (shortly after they opened in November of 1973). Now, I live out-of-state, but eating at Continental Corner is among my absolute favorite parts of every visit home. I sincerely hope it will be there for EVERY visit back and that it is still around after another 38 years, because I simply cannot imagine Summerville without the Continental Corner. I believe the food is not only exceptional and full of flavor (without being too spicy or overbearing), but one of the single best values I've ever found anywhere (and I'm a pilot, currently dining out for over 800 meals per year, so I know what's out there). Everything about the place is quaint and unpretentious - especially the price! I'd call it a ""quiet elegance"" that I enjoy tremendously. Lunchtime has a very different feel than dinner, so be sure to try them both. To me, you simply cannot beat the Cia plate with chicken, greek-style rice, fruit and a pita. In fact, on my last visit, I enjoyed it so much I had to order an entire second entree...which I ate before leaving! Another mandatory part of every visit is their spiced ice tea. If you like ordinary tea, you simply do not know what you've been missing! As unbelievable as the few negative comments here are to me, I'm actually grateful that not EVERYBODY agrees with me, as this place has been consistently busy during nearly every one of the 200-300 times I've eaten here...and it's often hard enough to find a parking place already! In short, if you have several hundred dollars per meal to spend and you're looking for five-star dining, this is perhaps not the place. But if you are willing to make a few allowances for a small, family-owned restaurant you could enjoy (and afford!) week after week for a lifetime, you will likely be grateful to have found them. more

Yummy Gyros! 1/6/2009

I was hesitant to try this place because I have never been a huge Greek food fan, however, I am so glad I did. The gyros are the best!!! Food is reasonable especially the daily specials! more

First time to eat at this restaurant and the food while tasty was served cold and had to be sent back. Parking lot was not marked and hard to find so i had to park on the street and walk to the rear door of the Pros: Food tasted good Cons: food served cold / portions on the small side/ parking lot hard to locate more

GREAT FOOD 10/17/2008

This place has been here for a long time and I have lived 10 from it for a long time. Well My husband and I wanted to try it and man it is now our # 1 place to eat. Not only is the food fantastic so are the prices. Not to mention the service was outstanding which is hard to find. I would def recommend this to my friends and family. more

One of the Best Restaurants in Summerville 12/27/2006

This is DEFINITELY authentic greek. In fact, the owner is Greek! Many greek restaurants are "greek-american" and owned and operated by an American, but not Continental Corner. Me and almost everyone else I know has been going to the restaurant for years! I've never met a single person who didn't like the restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC. They have nightly specials for around 6-8 dollars, and those are always wonderful as well. They have great greek salads, gyros, and offer many inexpensive items for those on a budget as well. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone! more

Good food, a little overpriced 6/19/2006

Continental Corner has been operating in Summerville for as long as I can remember...however, I have never been impressed by it. The food is acceptable, nothing spectacular. Most of the time, they find a way to put so much feta cheese on my meal that I can't stomach it. The atmosphere is busy and friendly, making it a good place for lunch with co-workers. However, I find it slightly overpriced for the quality of the food and experience. I usually choose other places to eat when I am in Summerville. PROS: friendly waiters, decent gyros CONS: not exactly authentic, overpriced. more
