This is some of the freshest and tastiest Italian food we've had in Tucson. We came from New England where cozy, home-style Italian restaurants are fairly common, but they are more rare in Tucson so this is a treasure to us. Four of us dined here and tried about everything on the buffet with no complaints. The antipasto was authentic, the lettuce & salad fixings were fresh, the soup was home-made & tasty, all pasta was al dente, the sauce was freshly made, chicken was tender, and the meatballs were moist and flavorful. This buffet had no old, over cooked, or dried-out food. We were very impressed by the quality for the price. The service was excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed. We enjoyed the dinner music with a distinct Italian flavor. We'll be telling our friends to try Contessa and we'll be repeat visitors as well.
Pros: Fresh, home-style Italian fare
Cons: Might be hard to get a table on a weekend
