Good atmosphere, good food 12/1/2011

We've been here on a number of occasions, sometimes just for a few drinks, sometimes for a meal. Not surprisingly, they did a great St. Patrick's day party with a variety of irish dishes and drinks especially for the day. The corned beef & cabbage was good, the sheppard's pie was better and one of these days I need to try a boxty. more

Best Authentic Irish Food Around 11/7/2009

The restaurant is divided up into a pub on one side and a restaurant on the other. Great for a night out with the family or an evening watching the game with the guys. The food is fresh and homemade and tastes amazing. Try the beef brisket cooked in Guinness. Awesome. Will definitely become a regular spot for us. Pros: Great Food, Non-Smoking, Well Priced, Generous Portions Cons: Didn't Have One more

Love this Irish pub, Tuesday night is always pint night. Real pints on special. Great staff, I feel like I'm part of the family when I'm there! Cheers! Pros: Pint night, great food, great friendly staff more

we love this place!! 7/11/2007

With all due respect, I honestly don't know what the reviewer before me was thinking! My husband and I absolutely love to go to Connolly's (we dine out quite often and have tried almost every place in Cary and the surrounding areas) and our food is always wonderful! He always gets the ruben, saying it is the best he's ever had anywhere, hands down. I've tried almost everything on the menu. The only thing I didn't care for was the beer-cheese soup, but I think that was just a matter of preference and the fact that I don't really like beer. The bread they serve before your meal is outstanding and I've never had anything like it before, very unique! \r I think the atmosphere is great too! They just finished renovating the new dining room and it's very nice - intimate and nicely decorated. The dining area is completely seperate from the bar area, which is nice when you're eating with your family or want a nice ""sit-down"" dinner"". On certain nights there is live music in the bar area, but you can hear it from the dining room. Pros: service, food, location, atmosphere Cons: limited menu not good for picky eaters more

Don't bother, it isn't worth it 4/20/2007

We decided to give this place a try tonight and I am so disappointed. The food is absolutly, undeniably horrendous. We make it a point to sample a few things the first time we visit a place so we ordered the Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Appetizer Boxty, the Cream of Potatoe soup, Crab Cake and Meatloaf. The Boxty was the only good thing. We got the one with the guiness marinated brisket. The Spinach and Artichoke dip was blah, it just did not have the flavor or texture it should have. Both the meatloaf and the soup were over seasoned with Rosemary and didn't offer much else flavor wise. The crab cakes were under done and had a lot of fillers. The crab had a fishy smell so I surmised it was not very fresh and it had not been cleaned well, as I had some large pieces of shell in my crab cakes. The vegetable served with the dinners were good but the potatoes appeared to be instant potatoes. They were flavorless and had an odd texture like they had been pureed and then had some grit added. \r \r Only the patio and the bar area were open and both were very plain as far as decor goes. You don't get much of an irish pub, or really any type of pub feel when you walk in. And they only had one waiter working the entire place, everything from seating you to busing the tables!\r \r Overall this was some of the worst food I have ever had in the Triangle, which is saying a lot since we eat out about twice a week and regularly try new places.\r \r My advise skip this place and go to the Hibernian if you want good Irish food and atmosphere. Pros: Parking, waitstaff was friendly, good Boxty Cons: Almost all the food is terrible, no irish feel more
