Ok, Good selection of shoes 4/23/2009

I have purchased a few times from the tannery. I have not tried to return anything thankfully!!! The staff are not great but be persistant and check out as many styles and sizes as you like! Its your money!!!!!! You can get good deals here. I got John Fluevogs here with a 30% discount. They were full price in the Newbury street store. Great selection of shoes. The staff were ok. In the Brattle street store I asked to try on a pair of shoes. I asked for size 8. The girl brought me out size 7.5 and 8.5 but not the 8. THe shoe came in 8 also but she couldn't bring it out initially LOL. Its still better than buying from Zappos who are in Kentucky! Local jobs at least Pros: can be cheaper Cons: staff more

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! 6/18/2008

This place has the WORST customer service and return policy. I bought a pair of expensive shoes for work and was fit wrong by the salesman. I brought them back the next day and the refused to return my money. They only offer store credit but they have few sizes available and will not order shoes for you if they do not have your size. I sent a complaint to customer service online and they never responded to me. If you are going to buy expensive shoes like Danskos, UGGs or Berks, go somewhere reliable that will not scam you!! Cons: EVERYTHING--Salespeople, cashiers, policies more

Wrost Shoe store ever in Boston & Cambridge 12/2/2007

This place is like the getto, The owner Sam aka Al Bundy need to see shink, I couldn't understand one word the guy was saying, he speaks 100 words a second. If you want good shoe that the Tannery sells go to Marshall's. I got the same pair for more then half the price Pros: Marshalls a block away at 500 Boylston Street Cons: This guy is in business more

DO NOT BUY HERE! 11/30/2007

This place has expensive shoes, rude people, and an attitude that's just horrible. Pros: Variety, kinds of shoes Cons: Nonexistent return policy, attitude of staff and owners more

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE TANNERY IF YOU HAVE SELF RESPECT 10/29/2007

""CAN WE PLEASE START A PETITION TO PUT THIS PLACE OUT OF BUSINESS??? Pros: NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING I HATE THIS PLACE AND WANT TO SHUT IT DOWN more

good selection of nike's, adidas, and other shoes 3/22/2007

My friend and I wanted to check this place because we heard they stock some cool sneakers like different air force 1's that are sorta difficult to find in stores. Took us a while to find it because its downstairs off brattle street and in the back of another store. Decent selection of shoes, but nothing really rare. If you're looking for a cool pair of sneakers check it out but don't expext to find anything rare. Also has a good range of funky/cool tee-shirts and sweatshirts. more

buyer beware!!!! 12/13/2006

These guys are jerks! They actually allow you to bargain with them if you are the right person. Just because you own half of Boston doesn't mean you have to be heartless pigs. 1 visit and you will see what I mean. For example, Classic Tall Uggs have an msrp of $140 which is right around where everyone charges. They charge $189. Way to spread the holiday spirit! Will never visit again and will bad mouth them to my grave! Pros: NOTHING!!! Cons: EVERYTHING!!!!! DO NOT VISIT more

fabulous! 11/7/2004

when I first went into the tannery I was taken back by all of the shoes that they offered, and the sales that they were promoting. I am a student in the boston area, and am constatly looking for good deals, the sales person asked me if I was a student, and they gave me 15% off. Since then I have been an avid fan of the tannery. In boston its difficult to find good deals on high quality stuff, so at the tannery you will find that! Through shoes, fashion clothing, snowboarding stuff and serious outdoor appareal! I highly recommend them, also the sales people that are fabulous are, Majer, Tarek, and Andrew! Pros: tons of stuff, great sales, highquality goods Cons: , hard to find parking more

Rude Staff 11/28/2003

-Brought me a pair of shoes, one with a missing insole. I pointed this out and the clerk looked annoyed and went to the back to ""find it"", returned with two different insoles in the pair. Unacceptable. -One store didnt have my size. I asked the clerk if he could call the other store to check the size, he immediately said he knew they didnt have them. I wanted the shoes that day, so I said I would check more stores before asking them to order. He acted very upset and kept trying to convince me that they would arrive in the next 2 days. I stood by my preference to keep looking around town and he acted exasperated and told me that if I did end up placing an order to make sure that I told whomever was working that it was HIS sale. Yikes. Not worth the hassle. Pros: Some Nice shoes Cons: Rude Staff more

Horrible customer service 9/13/2003

The Tannery has some great shoes, particularly for those interested in comfortable European footwear. They are one of few Boston area stores that carry Stonefly and 1803 brand shoes. However the customer service leaves much to be desired, and I have ultimately decided not to patronize The Tannery anymore. I have had several unpleasant encounters with Tannery Staff; from a staff member scolding me about leaving my bag unattended, to several staff being generally unfriendly and acting disturbed if you ask for a shoe size. They make no effort to help find a shoe ior a size, nor do they attempt to make the shopping expereince somewhat pleasant. The shoes are generally more expensive than you would find in other stores, but again, they do carry some hard to find brands. Overall, I dont care for the Tannery. Pros: European Comfort Shoe Cons: Poor Customer Service more

Awesome Service 12/6/2002

I was looking for a snowboard and I was helped imediately. They didnt just try to tell me something, they acctually helped me. They really knew what they were talking about. My boyfriend buys his skateboards there and is a frequent customer. more
