My vet sent me to this veterinarian eye specialist not far from Los Angeles when I went to see him. I was relieved I was able to get in to see the animal ophthalmologist right away. It turned out my Rottweiler, Sandy had a hole in her eye. I had no idea. I was planning on taking a trip out of town but realized I couldn't put this off until I came back. My dog was in agony and I didn't even know it. The eye doctor did a surgery that day that grafted tissue over her eye and saved her sight. I called my vet in Los Angeles and thanked him, as well as the ophthalmologist at Complete Animal Eyecare. The staff was great and I was seen right away.\r more

This animal specialist took a lot of time with me, instead of trying to rush to the next patient. There was no unnecessary testing either. He had a very nice bedside manner. He did one test called an ERG to be sure that surgery would be possible for Blackie to restore his vision. This was not an unnecessary test because the doctor did not want to waste my money if Blackie could not be able to see again.\r more

My German Shepherd Blackie was on the verge of going blind. He was only seven years old and started walking into walls. I was really scared. My vet in West Los Angeles sent me to the animal eye specialist at Complete Animal Eyecare Center. I liked him right away. He took a lot of time explaining everything to me. Blackie had cataracts that had matured and needed to come out for him to see well again. At seven years old I couldn't handle him going blind. Blackie is my best friend -- sleeps with me in my bed every night. They really provided not only support but emotiional support thanks.\r more

My German Shepherd Barney was all set for surgery with animal eye specialist, Dr. Silverman. However, on the day set for surgery, Barney's white blood count was low. The veterinary eye specialist did not push to take Barney into surgery. He decided to bring up the white blood count first, even though he had put this time aside for surgery for Barney. This thoroughness was impressive. The animal eye doctor worked closely with my vet in Los Angeles to be sure the bloodwork was perfect before taking Barney into surgery. I even got a month of free rechecks!\r more

I found a veterinarian ophthalmologist close to Los Angeles when my dog had an allergic conjunctivitis. I found Complete Animal Eyecare right off the 405 and 101 freeways. My dog Corbett needed medicine to treat the condition. The rechecks were very important because it turned out there was a medication Corbett was resistant to. I was impressed when the animal ophthalmologist called me immediately when the lab results came in and suggested another medication. He knew exactly how to proceed. I am glad we switched medicines right away -- Corbett is seeing very well now.\r more

Our dog had an ulcer. It was Saturday night at 9:00. We called the eye specialist on the emergency line. We got right through. He met us in 45 minutes. Saved our dog's vision. Very nice person who obviously cares about his clients and animals\r more

I needed a veterinary ophthalmologist in Los Angeles when I moved from Wash. DC. My Lab Rocky is receiving ongoing treatment for glaucoma. His records were sent to Complete Animal Eyecare. I have gotten very good treatment here.\r more

Excellent animal eye doctor. I needed a dog veterinary ophthalmologist when my dog's vision was not doing good due to an infection. When the infection did not go away over several weeks, my vet in Los Angeles suggested going to an animal ophthalmologist. This animal eye specialist was close by in Sherman Oaks. With a few medications my dog's eye infection was completely cured. I could feel how gentle and caring this animal eye doctor was, as well as his great sense of humor. I felt very comfortable. He saw what the issue was immediately. My dog is now completely cured and seeing great.\r more

My vet in Los Angeles recommended this animal eye doctor as great. I needed a good dog eye doctor. I found my Lhasa, Ella going blind. She couldn't go down the steps to from my bedroom. I set up an exam with animal ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman in Sherman Oaks. It is true this animal eye doctor wasn't going to do unnecessary surgery. This animal eye specialist explained my dog had cataracts that had matured and needed to be removed. I scheduled a test with this animal ophthalmologist called an ERG. The ERG eye test has a few stages, done by the animal eye doctor on the same day. The animal ophthalmologist first starts and completes only the beginning of the ERG test. He stops if he isn't getting good results. There are no other charges after that if so. The animal eye ophthalmologist finishes the ERG test only if the dog's eyes show what is called ""retinal function"" -- if the animal eye specialist would be able to do cataract surgery and restore vision. The ERG showed my dog Ella was a good candidate. The veterinary ophthalmologist took a lot of time explaining everything to me -- there was no unnecessary testing. I also did not ever feel pushed into surgery. I was also glad to find costs were reduced here too with the cataract surgery. There was a good discount plus a month of free rechecks. I had the surgery at this animal eyecare clinic. I dropped my dog off in the morning and picked him up that same afternoon. Because of this veterinarian ophthalmologist, my dog is now running in the dog park. Dr. Silverman is a great animal eye doctor. I agree with the reviews, he is an animal eye doctor who truly thinks about his clients.\r \r more

All animal ophthalmologists in Los Angeles were busy the day I needed to be seen. I got in to see animal ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman near Los Angeles in Sherman Oaks, right off the 405 and 101 freeways. My dog had an eye that could have ruptured. The veterinary eye doctor was able to treat with medicine only -- I needed to put in drops every few hours. With this animal eye doctor I avoided a costly surgery.\r more

My daughter's dog kept squinting -- I needed a good dog eye doctor. We have a vet in Los Angeles who sent us to animal eye doctor Dr. Silverman after several weeks of trying to cure this. The animal eye vet used a special instrument to see the front and back of the eye. He saw there was a thorn in her eye and removed it that day while we waited. We got in the same day. Very happy with the service here.\r more

My dog had a deep ulcer that was not healing. My vet in Los Angeles referred me to the animal eye specialist at Complete Animal Eyecare Center which was close by. The animal eye doctor got me in the same day and took care of the ulcer easily. I liked this animal ophthalmologist from the start. He is very understanding and put me at ease. The staff here is also very good. My Bulldog, Theo, is now out of pain and seeing very well. Yesterday the cone was able to come off -- my dog needed to wear it while the healing in the eye was happening. We went to the dog park in the afternoon and had a great time.\r more

This animal eye specialist really impressed me. My dog was scheduled for surgery but the dog's blood count was low. The veterinary ophthalmologist Dr. Silverman did not try to push me into surgery. This animal eye doctor waited and worked with my vet in Los Angeles to bring up the white blood count. I don't know if another eye specialist would have done that. I was struck with his caring and thoroughness.\r more

When you have an aggressive dog, you need a good animal ophthalmologist. Dr. Silverman in the San Fernando Valley helped quite a bit. This vet eye doctor was at first unable to do the exam due to my dog's aggressiveness. My Pit Bull, Sam, would not quiet down enough to be held still which is very important when the vet eye doctor has to get near the eye with a microscope. However, the animal ophthalmologist did not charge me for the appointment, though it took time to find out my dog would not allow the animal eye doctor close enough to complete the exam. This animal ophthalmologist gave me tranquilizers, at no charge (!) and rescheduled the appointment. When I gave the medication to Sam and came back, I found my dog examined in full with a complete exam for the price quoted. I would recommend Complete Animal Eyecare Center. Sam needs a small surgery I am going to take care of at this eye care hospital.\r more

My rescue from the Van Nuys pound developed cataracts in both eyes. One was too far gone and had glaucoma, but the other eye was operated on successfully. While it was an expensive procedure as well as one that requires medication and follow-up visits, it was well worthwhile. The dog is only 6 years old. Too young to be blind. He is now happy, romps in the yard, enjoys the daily walk with the other dog, and is thriving. Dr. Silverman and staff are terrific. I recommend them without reservation!\r more

I had heard that animal eye doctors in Los Angeles charged a lot so I was a bit nervous going to an animal ophthalmologist. My Yorkie did have a deep ulcer and needed surgery. I had scheduled it with animal eye doctor Dr. Silverman. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Silverman felt the eye was better. This veterinary ophthalmologist refused to push me into surgery which was not needed. He was honest with me and treated my dog very well. I am going back to check again next week but it looks like my Yorkie is doing much better because of my careful use of the drops prescribed, and his own healing. This animal eye surgeon is excellent. I am grateful for his truthfulness.\r more

Our 10-year old black lab mix Lucy had suddenly gone blind due to diabetes a few months ago. Our vet referred us to Dr. Silverman and we are very happy he did. He diagnosed her with cataracts in both eyes and ran a series of tests to determine if she was eligible for surgery, which she was. As long as we scheduled the surgery within 30 days, which of course we did, we were refunded the complete amount for the tests, which was considerable. He removed her lenses and replaced them with artificial lenses. The surgery was successful - her left eye rejected the artificial lens, but we learned that a lens is not necessary for vision - and she appears to have perfect vision again. Her right eye compensates for the impaired vision on her left side. She runs and jumps as if she had years removed from her life. I like to add that there was a 3 week recovery period that was rigorous and that included up to 7 different drop and 3 different pills several times a day, which we administered strictly according to schedule. I believe Dr. Silverman knows what he is doing, but it's important that you do your part and follow the instructions, as well. It is obvious that he cares deeply about the animals in his care. We have been to specialists before and have been charged considerably more for considerably less. We have also dialed his after-hours number before, because we had been concerned over the way Lucy's eye had looked a few days after surgery, and he picked up immediately. We would recommend Dr. Silverman to anyone.\r more

This is an excellent close by facility with a great animal ophthalmologist. We have taken our dogs here for years. It is amazing to me that anyone can be so hostile and write such exaggerated and ridiculous posts. Yelp is known to filter good reviews when doctors don't agree to their terms. Nothing suspicious about it. People can write reviews, like the long rambling one on this site, that is so twisted it is almost as if the person has nothing better to do. Our dog had folds rubbing into his cornea and needed surgery -- a very painful condition -- however, the price was nowhere near as high as in this novel length post. All tests were necessary, reasonable, and the work done was excellent. Our dog sees beautifully. At no time were we pushed into surgery. This doctor was referred highly by my vet, and has excellent bedside manner. When people write such mean spirited and hateful words, which breaks YELP's own rules, I have to wonder about the emotional stability of the author. This doctor has been nothing but completely ethical with us.\r more

It's really rare that I give 5 stars - actually I don't think I've EVER given 5 stars!!! So that's saying a lot! Dr. Silverman is a godsend! One day I was hiking with my beautiful dog Jasmine and all of a sudden she started squinting her eye. I immediately called one of my best friends and she gave me Dr. Silverman's number. When I called the office the receptionist was super nice and got me in the same day. Once I got there he looked at my dog's eye and found out that there was a dried foxtail in it. I'm so grateful that I got it taken care of as fast as I did!\r more
