Their Name Says it All 11/18/2011

I have been taking my pets to Compassion Veterinary Clinic for nearly 10 years. Being involved with animal rescue, I currently have 9 cats and 3 dogs of varying ages, so I am the vet's office often. Dr. Patil and his staff are great with my animals and have been incredibly supportive and compassionate with me during difficult treatments and even the loss of a few of my pets. In the past year and a half, in addition to annual routine exams and vaccinations for all of my pets, they have successfully treated one of my rescue dogs who was heartworm positive and had digestive disorders, another who got into mouse poison while visiting a friend's house, and most recently helped one of my 15 year old cat survive pancreatitis and hepatic lipidosis. And, most recently, they helped my 18 year old cat cross the rainbow bridge after years of trouble with her kidneys and thyroid had finally gotten the best of her. Afterward, they even sent a sympathy card signed by the entire staff, as well as flowers. My one complaint would be about the costs of the office visits. While they are comparable or even better than many area vets, I feel that they could be reduced or waived in cases of repeated follow-up visits and/or vaccinations. When I lived in PA and FL, none of my vets charged a visit fee for vaccinations or follow-ups. And, when you have as many pets as I do, those fees can become excessive very quickly. Regardless of the costs, however, I feel that I can trust Compassion Vet Clinic with my pets health and well-being. And that trust has been well earned. more

How Fortunate for the Pets (and their people) of MetroWest! 4/20/2011

We've been taking our pets to Compassion Veterinary Clinic for nearly two years now. We are so grateful for the support and the EXCELLENT care the clinic provides. We are ""regulars"" at the clinic, as one of our pets has a chronic illness. Sometimes I walk out of the clinic wondering how I could ever ""repay"" these good people for all they've done for us. They go above and beyond, again and again. And, as it is stressful for us to take care of our ailing pet, I can only admire these people who work with a multitude of sick animals day in, day out. It can only be one thing: COMPASSION! They’ve got it all right! Our animals are in the best of hands at Dr. Patil's clinic...and so are we! more

Run Don't Walk From this Place 4/9/2011

I've been there 2 times. The first time I was told if I bring in my dog and cat at the same time the Dr could see them both and I would only be charged for one office visit. \r Both were in one exam room at the same time and guess what. I was charged for two office visits.\r The Dr loves to talk and kept pressuring me to get more services than I wanted. She made me have to keep saying not at this time, not now, Next time, I thought she would never get around to treating my pets. \r The second time my dog had been attacked and was badly hurt. I rushed her to this clinic. The Dr. said she couldn't treat her because she did not have a 24 hour facility and the dog needed 24 hour care. She kept talking and talking and talking while my poor dog stood there bleeding and bleeding and bleeding. I was trying to figure out what point she was trying to get to. At last it was obvious that there was no point. I took my dog and left. I took her to Tufts where she received excellent care. more

Large breed dog owners beware! 7/12/2010

Large breeds are a money making scheme for this vet. Our dog likes to swim and is prone to eye and ear infections. This vet will only provide a small amount of medication that will not cure the infection until a second office visit is scheduled and another round of medication is provided. Our dog suffered for months durning some years until the infection was fully cured. This veterinarian refuses to provide any prescription that could be filled at a canadian pharmacy for a third of what this vet charges. He also refuses to provide a maintenance dose of medication that could be kept on hand to treat an infection at the on set. Save yourself a small fortune and years of aggravation and avoid this vet. Pros: Very few patients no waiting Cons: Expensive, Aggravating more

ATTENTION DOG OWNERS! 1/27/2010

Being a Canine Educator and someone who loves their dog like a child, being picky about Vets is an understatement! I have gone through 7 different Vets in the state of Massachusetts and I hated ALL of them until now! Dr. Patil is by far the best Vet you will find. No matter where we go, I will always return to him. After my Dog's optional early neuter (both testicles didn't even drop yet) and recover you couldn't even tell he had surgery! I'm that person who knows a lot about vaccinations and will ""challenge"" the doctor... but Dr. Patil & On Staff Vet Technicians took the time to answer every single question up to my satisfaction. Trust me (I've seen the other Vets) don't bother going anywhere else. Compassion Veterinary Clinic is the best! Pros: Expert Surgeon (Dr. Patil) & Knowledgeable Staff Cons: Expensive $$$ more

Caring and very Compassionate of all animals! 10/21/2009

\r Comment I agree w/all you have said About 14 years ago I had a very old German Shepherd who was unable to get up & messed all around him. I was at work and unable to tend to him. Dr. Patel came w/an assistant to my home picked him up in his arms in a blanket and took him in his Mercedes as messy as he was. Dr. Patel cleaned him and gave him pain med. untill I could get home. Near closing he waited for me & my daughter so we could be w/him to be put down as he was very ill & not eating anymore. Dr. Patel was so caring. He speaks kindly and loving to all my animals. I like-wise will go to no-one else!!I \r Pros: kind, loving, Cons: Pricey? When it comes to a beloved animal what is too much! more

They live up to their name 10/24/2008

Our cat, Hunter, had adopted us about a year ago. We noticed that Hunter wasn't breathing right and took him to Dr. Patil for a checkup. Hunter was correctly diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia (i.e. a hole in his diaphragm). Although Hunter had his operation at Tufts Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Patil's team has done a great job taking care of Hunter since. Over the past year they have helped with post op checkups, vaccinations, puncture wound surgery due to animal fights, and de-worming. His staff has always been professional, competent and compassionate. Some fees may be slightly higher than average (most are covered by ASPCA Health Insurance). However, I don't mind paying any extra cost since I know Hunter is getting the best possible care from Dr. Patil and his team. Pros: Easy to get to on Route 20, Marlborough. Service, Competance, Caring Cons: Some fees higher than average. more

My dog got better care than I did when I got almost died!!! 10/16/2008

First off, i have to say the staff and the doctors that work at this place are absolutely phenomenal! I have a vet clinic 5 minutes down the road from my house and i will drive an hour out of the way to go see these guys again! My dog is the kindest dog in the world, except when it comes to little things in my yard... Well my Doberman was outside one day just chillin in the sunlight and it saw something running around in my back yard... Raith got up and ran over to defend its territory... the squirrel cut up my dog's face and bite its paw, with its own death it brought my dog a lot of pain. I brought it over to Compassion and Dr. Patil fixed him up perfectly! His staff is unbelievable, they will help you with whatever you need and whatever question you may have no matter how silly it is... and unlike stupid friggin idiot petco they accept bully breeds.... Pros: EVERYTHING!!! Cons: none what-so-ever! more

So Caring, and professional 10/16/2008

My cat got into a fight with something outside, got infected and after bringing her into the vet, the doctor told me she needed surgery to fix all the cuts on her back and tail and to drain all the infection. this healed wonderfully and unfortunatley to my suprise, a month later another fight, more cuts and another infection (i guess my cat is quite the bully outdoors) and because it had been such a short time since the last surgery, he gave me a really good deal on the second round! I love Dr. Patil and all his staff they have been so wonderful for my kitty and I could never imagine going anywhere else. Pros: understanding, nothing will suprise them! more

Definitely worth it! 4/15/2008

I wouldn't bring my animals anywhere else. Dr. Patil and his staff are genuinely concerned about the well-being of the animals. My 16 year old cat has needed a lot of medical attention lately, and they have been nothing but accommodating and concerned. The prices are a bit high, but I'd rather bring her there and know she's being taken care of the right way then to save a little money and not be sure. I highly recommend them! Pros: Staff is always friendly attentive and understanding - even with the most difficult of pets as my cat is Cons: a little pricey but worth it more

Seem to like 'bait and switch' 2/25/2008

I brought my cats there for shots, which cost more than they should have, but my understanding was that they participated in the Friends of Animals low-cost spaying program. I asked explicitly about this, and was told that it would be $60 if the cats had their shots updated there. Day before operation, I ask to confirm the price. $269! I ask about the $60 program, and am told (1) I need to send in for a coupon (couldn't have told me a month ago when I scheduled the appt?!?), and (2) she needs to be less than 6 months old to be eligible. Don't bother with this place. Pros: staff seems nice enough Cons: cost was a surprise each time I went, and they seemed like they were husting me. more

""Compassion"" the name says it all! 10/3/2007

With great Doctors and excellent service from veterinary technicians i feel my animals are in great care and would recommend to any animal owner who needs compassionate and expert care. Pros: Expert Doctors and technicians Cons: ? more

With customer service like this, they will be out of business soon... 9/20/2007

I would not go back if my dog was dying and they were the only vet in the whole world. \r \r We had a tumor removed off my dog's back. After 10 days they removed the stitches and said she could resume normal activity. The next day her incision opened up completely, so much that you could see where they removed the tumor. We had to call them 3x to get her back in to stitch her up b/c it was near closing time and they wanted us to wait till morning. After they finally helped her with her 4 inch long 1 inch wide open wound on her back they charged us $275 dollars and told us it was our fault, that she must have bumped into something to open it back up. Pros: ??? Cons: the cost will always be a surprise, they never tell you until it's done how much it will be more
