Diamond in the rough 5/29/2011

This is the place you have to frequent, you have to know what you're after, and you may have to dig. I furnished my 3 seasons porch, bought a BEAUTIFUL sideboard, living room chairs, drinking glasses, etc. but it took a long time to find the right thing at the right price. If you come once you may leave disappointed. Come back the next week and the whole store will be different, including prices - so what? They're for-profit. If you want cheap prices (smelly and dirty, too) go to Salv Army across the street. I LOVE this place!! more

EXACT SAME ITEM!!!! So Many Different Prices 3/30/2010

For a privately owned THRIFT store, the employees and pricing should be a more reasonable and customer friendly than the chain corporations. None of the pricing is consistent and when challenged, the supervisor could care less. I brought some items up to the counter that were clearly the EXACT same item and yet different prices. I questioned this asking if it was really fair to the customers. I mean really! How hard would it of been to just make them all the same price at check out and in turn, sell more. Apparently, “There is nothing we can do.” is the slogan for this crappy store! more

Better places to shop 3/4/2009

I have stopped going to this particular thrift store and go instead to the Salvation Army which is right across the street. The help is rude and prices can be high for something that is just not worth it. I don't know how they come up with their prices. If you don't care how you are treated this is the place for you! more

Terrible. Racist 8/2/2006

This store is a terrible store. It is racist. If you are African American do not go to this store. You be treated poorly at best. By the way, I am a 43 white male and saw the manager of this store behave in an abominable fashion against four young children and their parents. more

Very Good Thrift in the northern suburbs 8/6/2005

Community Thrift store is a decent thrift shop, compareable to Unique and Value Village in the city. The selection is excellent and the prices are usually very good. All the prices are palendromes, which is a bit weird, but it makes it easier to figure out some of the sloppy hand written tags. I've gotten many many excellent bargains there and it's where I tend to get most of our clothing. The best feature is the dressing rooms which are not easy to come by at most thrift shops. I only wish there were more than two, the lines can be LONG. Sometimes I wonder where they've come up with some of the prices they have on items, but they do mark things down if they don't sell. Wednesday is senior day, so bring your mom or grandma to get 20% off or aviod it all together because it can be very crowded. Have fun searching for just the right addition to your home or wardrobe here! more

For-profit thrift shop, good selection 8/5/2005

I usually like to patronize non-profit thrift shops, but this one is pretty nice. They do not accept drop-offs. They have a nice selection of clothing, though, for the whole family, and they often have a lot of nice looking furniture available, as well. I like to come here just to browse and see what kind of bargains are available. more
