Comfort Dental

Read a negative report on my favorite dentist and have to reflect on how we have time to criticize but seldom take time to praise the excellent work of our physicians and dentists - Dr Oldershaw is one of the most outstanding dentists I have ever encountered literally saving my teeth and appearance when another dentist would have certainly given up. \r Too on a dreary Sunday afternoon I had a sudden and terribly painful tooth , called him, and instead of referring me to some unknown dental ER - he came, opened up the office, performed an emergency root canal and charged no more than for a regularly scheduled office visit. He is both skilled and compassionate and I feel so fortunate to have found him some years ago.\r more

Dr Oldershaw has been my dentist since 2008 and he is wonderful. I had a couple crowns done by him originally and have been back to him many times since then. He is always kind, asking me about my children and how my job is going. He really seems to care about his patients. I have ALWAYS been afraid of needles, and I've been to a bunch of different dentists before him, and he is by far the best at giving shots! I recently had an infected wisdom tooth pulled and Dr Oldershaw was constantly explaining what he was doing, what I was hearing and feeling, and asking me how I was doing. I am really happy with him and I recommend him for anyone like me who is afraid of going to the dentist. more

I would recommend this office to anyone who is needing a dentist. I see Dr Weekes and he is great. Very caring and Gentle. He is honest and explains every process. The only bad thing about Dr Weekes is that I only get to see him twice a year. more

This is nothing against the doctors there. They do provide good service. But this is against comfort dental as a practice / business. I think you have to watch out to what they don't say. There are hidden fees that are not mentioned upfront. I was a patient here and had to move for work. I am now being charged to get my own x-rays back, since there is no comfort dental near my home. Went to comfort Dental on Coal Mine and always got Dr. Oldershaw for my check ups. He always told me I needed a crown- most every time I went in. At the same time, he would tell me about his daughter in CA who was an aspiring actress and how expensive it was for her to live there and for him to help her. Hummmmm...is that why he recommended a $650.00 crown for me each time I went for a 6 month check up??? I started using the other doctors at the office and they are great!!!! Very honest and don't push crowns when I don't need them. I have heard them talking to other patients while I have been in the chair and they always treat them respectifully and honestly and don't push them into procedures they might not need. My children are treated in the office as well and I am happy with the professional and respectful treatment they receive. I trust the other doctors in the office and recommend them highly. I refuse to see Oldershaw and will not let any of my family members be treated by him. Don't let that stop you from visiting the office, just request anyone but Oldershaw! I was scared to death to go to the dentist (thanks to my childhood dentist) and had found a great one but had to change due to insurance. Here came the childhood fears again. But I found Comfort Dental Coal MIne and went there with a toothache. Dentist found nothing wrong with the tooth and told me sometimes people have aches and sensitivity in their teeth just like we do anywhere else on our body. He cleaned my teeth, did x-rays and recommended a mouthwash for sensitive teeth that you can buy at any grocery store. How's that for service? He COULD have said something was wrong and charged me big bucks. But he didn't. My tooth feels much better just after using the mouthwash for six months. It still hurts slightly sometimes when I bite on something wrong, but I went back for a check-up and he again told me they can't see anything wrong with it and it's just one of those things and if it's livable (which it definitely is) then just leave it alone.
