When my wonderful landlord, James Bibby passed away, his son turned his rental properties over to Colonial Property Management. CPM rented vacant apartments in the building to young rent jumpers who quickly robbed neighbors while they were working. When our basement door was kicked in by these same crooks, I contacted CPM 14 times before they repaired the door. During that time, thieves stole $500 worth of our belongings. I finally decided to move when a water leak from the above apartment ruined my basement ceiling and walls and they would not repair it. When I contacted CPM to advise I was moving out(after 13 years), Madge the secretary claimed I never contacted them to notify them, and tried to cheat me out of my deposit. They also said they had no record of me even making my deposit(in 1989!). When I produced my copy of the lease showing proof, a month after I moved out they sent me a check for less than $20, stating that was the amount less the "damages" to the unit. This was after I ensured the apartment was in better condition than it was in when I first moved in! So---if you want aggravation and wish to deal with an infirm elderly secretary and a landlord who will find a way to keep your deposit, rent from Colonial Property Management.
