Colonial Grand At Shiloh

Anyone who says it's nice living here or they enjoy this apartment comple must be used to living next to a dumpster in the streets or a complete idiot. This is the worst apartment complex hands down. The leasing staff is 100% unprofessional. They have no sense of customer service. It has taken them over six months to successfully assign parking spots, which was only assigned for one month before it was not in effect again. Which they have only performed ""surveys"" in an effort to assign parking spots during the whole time. By the time the issue is resolved and settled I'm moving out of this hell hole. And when they say you can call a tow company, you come to find out the tow company won't come because of the contract they have with the leasing office. Emails don't work either. And neither do phone calls. Beware of coming into the office because if you do they act like you're bothering them with inconvenience. I've never once been late on rent and it's terrible how I'm given problems as a resident. And I've had many bug and maintenance problems as well. Also keep in mind NO ONE picks up their dogs poop regardless of the leasing staff only sending out pointless reminders you'll find on your door, but still be a problem about. more

This has to be the worst place I have ever lived in my life. Almost everyone here feels the same way. They do not clean up dog poop or enforce people to do it. Cars park anywhere expecially in curves and fire lanes. The property manager tried to use the excuse that her parents passed away during the last 2 1/2 months and she was not making sure everything was done properly. Okay I am sorry for the loss, but I own my own business and I lost my dad a little over a year ago and you have to make sure it does not effect you at work. If you need time off to take care of things then leave someone in charge that can make sure things get done. This property which have the same complaints as a year ago about the same issues and they are still not resolved. These problems did not happen over night. I fell on the property because of poor upkeep of the sidewalks and they said "You should not have been so stupid and watched where you were walking". Well my attorney think totally different and so will they when all of this goes to court. Crime, HAHAHA YEAH alot in 4 months of living here I have been broke in on once, and my car has been broke into 3 times already. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM??? Poor Management? Gates don't ever work. They use the excuse of people have hit the gates that is why they are not working. I am sorry all of the gates have not been hit they just are too cheap to keep up their property and it is catching up with them. MOLD OMG all of my windows leak water and have mold. And since I have reported the incident when I fell they told me the next day I have not paid my rent in 3 months. Okay lets get real, who is going to let anyone live anywhere that long without paying rent????? Thank god I have copies of the cancelled checks that is backing me up in court. I am suing them because of the poor maintenance and I encourage everyone else who has a problem who lives here to do the same thing. Since our preliminary hearing, my mother and I have been stalked by some of their maintenance guys. I take care of my mother because of her poor health and we do not feel safe at all. Now the whole time we have been here we very rarely seen maintenance anywhere now it seems they are working in the building I live in almost every day. Oh Yeah, wiring is a problem here too we had a wire burn into in the wall. My mother uses oxygen now thank god there was not a fire just all of the power to the kitchen went out for 3 weeks. Then they denied us reporting it to them thank god for certified mail. Fire and Oxygen tanks do not make a good combination. The complex only said sorry it happened it is fixed now so get over it. I will get over it when this complex lives up the the name Grand the only things grand here are the problems. So please I encourage everyone to speak up about your problems. Not only to the office but the corporate office in Birmingham, AL, the building inspector, code enforcement, health department and fire marshall. Those people get paid by our tax money so use the services that are available. Until this company pay alot of fines they are not going to straighten up. So again I ask everyone to stand up and speak up!!!!!!! And until they pay up they will not change. Oh yeah if you visit here bring your gas mask because of the mold, boots because of the dog poop and trash, flashlight because of poor lighting and a fire extinguisher in case of fire. The employess in the leasing office give false and unintelligible information. The gates are ALWAYS broken!!!!!! They have removed most of the amenities such as the gym, laundry room and work-out room. Maintanence is slow to respond and most times have to repair the same thing twice. We recently (10/08) have been targeted for multiple break-ins which the leasing office chose to keep a secret and not advise tenants. For parents looking to move your young adult college students somewhere safe, this is not it. A sexual assault occured after one of the break-ins and once again no response from the leasing office to warn tenants. Poor place to live. We have lived ther efor three years. I have lived at Colonial Grand @ Shiloh now for 2 years. The hands have changed a few times as far as ownership goes and the maintanace has had some issues more so recently, but I would recommend this complex for a move. The office staff is always really nice and my neighbors have been enjoyable. I rent a one bedroom apartment and its just enough for me and an occassional visitor. I would not recommend the smaller one bedrooms for couples or animal owners, look for the larger one bedroom +. The pools are both nice in the summer and there is rairly anyone there in the evenings. Reguardless of negative reviews you have read there are some that enjoy this place a lot. Just keep in mind you are sharing the locations with many other families and college kids. Pros: Excellent Location, Close to KSU, Shopping, and I-75 Cons: Poor maintenance and limited parking late at night. more
