College Perk

This coffee shop has a great atmosphere. I’m not a big fan of their coffee. It is decent but I prefer a bolder blend. The staff here is very friendly and the prices are much cheaper than your neighborhood Starbucks. I like the small food and pastry options. It is nice to site back between classes to have a quick bit while taking in the scenery. more

College Perk is not your ordinary chain-like coffee shop. They have a very friendly laid-back atmosphere with acoustic guitars, bookshelves, pool table, open mic night, and other special things that make it unique. The cappucinos and lattes are great and it's convenient location to the University of Maryland campus makes it perfect for late night studying. more

Just north of the UMCP campus, College Perk perches over a stream valley. The owners serve coffee and tea priced UNDER the Starbuck's threshold. Lite sweet and sandwiches go fast, so eat early. Stay late during finals. Play pool Listen or join the many open Mike nights for acoustic, lightly electrified, or poetry slams. The Christmas lights (blue and white, so Hannakah works too) on the porch are a nice touch. more

I very quickly went in here for some coffee when I was studying like a crazy woman for my addictions final (funny how I choose caffeine). Although I love non-chain cafes with a homely feel, I didn't appreciate how the place smelled like 'old' and all the furniture was pretty tatty and tacky. I'm sure at night once they light the place up with Christmas lights and it is too dim to see the stains on the couches, it would be a good place to chill, however, not for me. I got a caramel latte which was pretty good. The standard size was at least 16 ozs which made me happy. I think it could have been sweeter or had a little more syrup, but that is because I am addicted to sugar, so I think in reality it is probably the perfect amount. I would want to go there again to try some of their interesting drinks such as Thai Tea made with condensed milk, but another day when I don't need an insane caffeine fix. It's a nice idea, but yikes, they need some money to do that place up a little bit. more
