Great place for Pho and vermiccelli #31 3/23/2010

I've tried almost everything here Pho, Vermicelli, rice plate, salad roll, crunchy roll,etc.. They all are fabulous. The service is quick and the food are fresh and very tasty. I eat here at least once a week. Pros: The food is fabulous Cons: Nothing bothers me really more

Good Food, Lackluster Service 3/19/2010

Ok, so i've been eating at Saigon Grill since they opened. My favorites are the Bun Vermicelli noodle bowls and the salad rolls, and also the salads. The bad, is the service. The owner I believe wants to create an upscale environment for his restaurant, but needs a lesson in decorating. Imagine high end tacky and that pretty much describes it. The service can be terrible, to just okay. If this place could match the great food with good service and a pleasant dining room, the place would go from a hot lunch spot to an evening destination. As it stands now, you might be sharing the restaurant with 2 or 3 other diners in the evening, which is sad because the food is fabulous. All the pieces are in place, from gourmet coffee drinks to wines and gourmet desserts. However, they need to hire a barista who knows how to make great coffee, buy better quality coffee, and charge less for their wine... $6 -8 a glass in this tackily decorated restaurant is ridiculous. Also, hire someone who speaks English proficiently to serve.. if you ask the wait staff a question, often times they look at you like you're speaking cat or something. The food prices are on the high side, but I'm content with it because of the quality of the food. Even if they don't redecorate, training the servers to actually serve customers like western style restaurants, would bring in more business!! I give Saigon Grill 3 stars because and only because of the quality of the food. I hope the owner reads this! And as the other review noted, Pho Tango is taking away business.. when I feel like Vietnamese food, with great service and a soothing dining environment, I go see Amy! Amy used to own Amy's burger shack and now owns Pho Tango.. and she has done a fabulous job! The beef at Pho Tango is to die for. Come on Saigon Grill, I wish you could visit Pho Tango and learn a thing or two.. Pros: great salad rolls, vermicelli noodle bowls Cons: Service more

Details, great taste, and healthy cuisine. 6/9/2009

If you are a Pho and Vermicelli aficionados, you'll like this place. This restaurant has very nice decor interior. It offers a complete bill of fare with yummy and healthy cuisine from food, sumptuous desserts to fine espresso drinks (especially the B52 & latte are my favorites). I've been coming this place for lunch almost every weekend to relax and unwind. Pros: Unique ambiance to relax & unwind, free Wi-Fi Internet Cons: crowded at lunch time more

a must-try restaurant that is quite enjoyable. 6/9/2009

Don't believe what ""daniou"" is saying. Unlike what he states, I have never had anything less than great service at Saigon Grill. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the food always arrives at my table in good time.\r \r As a regular customer of Saigon Grill restaurant, I would like to voice my strong support for this restaurant in maintaining their doors open to create many jobs in this downturn economy. Their success or failure is always mutual to their customers and employees; therefore I take enormous pride in the contributions in eating out at any restaurant to stimulate these great local economies – the Dribble Effect as you know it does make a difference. \r \r I’ve been eating at CoffeeFirst Saigon Grill ever since they opened approximately 2 years ago. This restaurant is the quintessential Pho experience. I’d like the Pho here in terms of the consistency of its quality is worthy of note. I also really enjoyed their Flame-Broiled Chicken and Shrimp rice plate #52. Simply Amazing and Delicious!\r \r If you have room, there are ten different mouth-watering French dessert types that you can choose. \r \r Finally, this is an absolutely must-try restaurant that is quite enjoyable. Pros: Best Pho, French Desserts, Chicken Salad, Excellent Espresso Cons: too many choices! more

Stay away 5/7/2009

No real reason to go to this place with other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Food is lackluster at best. The pho is nothing special, and often they will only give you a marginal amount of beef or seafood in it. But the main reason to stay away is the service. It is the worst of ANY restaurant I have ever been to. PERIOD. On a recent visit, after waiting for over 20 minutes for our pho, I asked if they had perhaps forgotten our order. After 45 minutes (and this is during a lunch time)... I told them that they should cancel the chicken wings we had also ordered. Our two bowls of pho finally arrived and then they tried to serve the chicken we cancelled. The owner apologized about the terrible service and said they were having a bad day and comped us our meal... Two weeks later, we decided to give the place another shot. As soon as we walked in, the staff ambushed us at the door and said that we owed them for not paying the free meal. The owner demanded that we pay the previous meal and explained that he has never discounted anything at his place and we must be wrong. Completely unbelievable to be treated this way after having been to his restaurant at least 15 times (hey, it was at least convenient to go to)...Pho Tango has already taken a lot of there business away. I will never step in this joint again, and would never recommend this place to anyone... Cons: Terrible Service, Marginal Food---why go???? more
