Sunday brunch from 10 am - 1 pm is very well done. Chef specials not on the menu may include a BLT topped with 2 eggs over easy. \r Also not on the menu and available every day is a Dip Duo with tortilla chips, homemade fresh guacamole and a spicy cheddar cheese dip. The harbor view is always interesting and friendly pets are welcome to the patio. Great place to sip and relax! more

South Florida's Best Kept Secret 6/3/2009

I don't get to travel to South Florida as much as I'd like, but when I am there, I always make it a point to drop by Coconuts! Several years ago, the company went under new ownership and it’s been great ever since. From the amazing wine list, to the amazing specials, this place never gets old. Just recently I went in and had their Blue Crab Scooby Doos for my appetizer; I tried an Herb Encrusted Snapper for my meal, and finished with a delicious Coconut Cheesecake. This was probably the best meal I've ever had. The staff is always very welcoming, the view is always amazing, and the service is probably the best in town. If you really want to spend a special night with someone, or just need a quick bite for lunch, Coconuts is your place. Pros: Great Service, View, Wine List, FooD! Cons: N/A more

Great food and great service. They sit right on the water so it can get cold if you eat outside at night. Go there every time I'm in town. more

Don't even think about a special order 3/29/2009

I’m writing to you about my recent experience at Coconuts restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. Before I start, please note that Coconuts is (well was) one of my favorite restaurants in town and I’ve been going there regularly for about a year. \r \r It was a Thursday night around 9pm when my date and I arrived for dinner at Coconuts. We started our meal by ordering two appetizers of stone crabs. As I was checking out the menu to determine what my delicious entrée choice would be, my eyes were gazing at the Crabcake Salad- a personal favorite- but my stomach was growling for more. For the record, Coconuts frequently offers a delicious Crabcake Sandwich special as well as many other sandwich choices- you’ll understand shortly why I mention this. So when the waitress came over to ask me I wanted as my meal, I simply asked “could I have a Crabcake Sandwich.”\r \r Well, you would have thought I asked her to put the planet mars on a roll. She had a blank stare on her face. That’s when she told me that a Crabcake Sandwich would probably not be possible and that they couldn’t do “special orders.” I was pretty much in shock at this point but managed to put a few thoughts together blurting out, “what’s the problem, you got the crabcake and you got the roll.” Granted not the nicest thing to say but nonetheless pointing out the obvious. That’s when I had the manager called on me- suddenly I was back in 5th grade getting in trouble with the principal.\r \r The manager walks out and looks at my table for what seemed like an eternity, actual time probably 15 seconds, for what I can only assume was long enough to figure out if we were someone worth providing a “special order” for. The manager went back inside, leaving me on the edge of my seat wondering if my requests were going to be met.\r \r Suddenly the manager pops up at my table with an exuberant “NO.” I shot back quickly “pardon me.” Mr. Manager starts telling me that the answer is no, they cannot accommodate my special request. (Yes, just in case you were wondering I am still talking about a crabcake sandwich and yes I know what else you are thinking. You are correct. We are still in 2009 in the midst of one of the worst economic downfalls in American history that’s left most businesses begging for customers.) I give him the same line I gave the waitress, “what’s the problem you’ve got the crabcake and you’ve got the roll.” Apparently the owner of Coconuts was there that evening and he gave me the big fat thumbs down to my preposterous request.\r \r To rub salt into my bitter wound the stone crabs came out and were about the size of my thumb. Sweet.\r \r So I guess what the moral of my review is; if you’re looking for a nice evening out and have some extra cash- obviously Coconuts doesn’t need the business- head on over to Angelo’s on 17th Street. That’s where we went after deciding that Coconuts wasn’t going to work out for me and my preposterous requests. You’ll get a good slice of pizza and a taste of heaven aka the best garlic roll in town for about half the price of a thumb sized stone crab appetizer. Pros: N/A Cons: EVERYTHING more

Best burger in town! 2/24/2008

Since the new owners took over we have been in Coconuts several times and enjoyed the food. I had a Tim's Backyard Burger over the weekend and was very impressed, this is the best burger in town. We will be back often to enjoy the view and the food.\r \r Thanks Coconuts! Pros: Great view Cons: Parking can be hard to find more

Great food 10/4/2007

I was pleasantly surprised to find Coconut's with a new owner. I remember it from the old days and it has grown up. The food and wine is great, sitting on the intercoastal waterways watching the sunset was a true delight! I feel like I'm in old Fort Lauderdale when I eat here relaxing and remebering why I moved here. If you have not been recently, you need to try it. Oh I almost forgot the Sunday brunch....Shrimp and grits a must try! Pros: Great food ,wine, ambiance Cons: smaller menu more

Underdiscovered Gem on the Ft. Lauderdale Waterfront 7/21/2007

Not your typically ""fired calamara"", intercoastal place. Casual, well-priced and somebody in the kitchen really cares about the food. Grab a booth that's inside but open to the outdoor deck for Sunday Brunch and don't miss the Salami Benedict with a side of home-made potato pancakes. Get that with some sour cream and kick back with the Sunday paper for a great meal. Pros: High Quality Food, Great Service from Happy People Cons: Parking can be tight more
