Coastview Inn

I understand this motel has been under new management since August 2008 and has worked hard to overcome a bad rep and to change public perception. Given the reviews I've read from prior to the change in management and the time we stayed there (3/14-16/09) I would say they have been quite successful. Our experience was excellent. Our room/bed was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The microwave and refrigerator was a welcome commodity. A coffee maker would have been nice but for the price, we couldn't complain. Maid service was fine and the manager couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. The location is excellent; directly across the street from the beach and boardwalk, lots of good restaurants, everything within walking distance. We got a great rate from Priceline and although that did not apply to the waterview rooms, the manager, Jeff, put us in a room with the best view possible from our window. It was too cold and early in the year to use the pool but it appeared clean and well-maintained. We would have enjoyed a hot tub but understand that the motel simply does not have one. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. In fact, we plan to book it for one of our singles group's weekend excursions. For the price and type of lodging, we give Coastview an excellent rating. Great job, Jeff! more

My Fiance and I went here on Feb. 16-17 for a Valentine's trip. We parked our car in the parking lot when we got there and didn't have to move it all weekend. It is located in the perfect spot. Cross the street and your at the Boardwalk and right down the street is the Wharf. We got a room with a view and it was beautiful. Best place I ever stayed more

The hotel is the best for cleanliness, location, price and friendly staff. Comfy bed, fridge & microwave were clean. I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in santa cruz. more

Our stay was very pleasant. Took my granddaughter there for her birthday for the week-end to go to the beach and broadwalk which was right across the street. . The front desk service people were so very helpful in anything we needed. The rooms were very clean. I would recommend this place.I will be staying there when i go back to Santa Cruz. more

The motel was very clean, and just across the street from all the entertainment, boardwalk, restaurants beach, and pier. In fact, there was not even one hotel or motel that was closer to the boardwalk than this one. Half of the rooms have a beach-view. Bed was good, shower was nice all in granite. Rooms had a 24"" TV, mini fridge, microwave, iron and board, hairdryer and a new A/C unit. The best thing about this motel is its price, during the week its only $80 (summer) and $120 for the weekend, plus the owners work there full time (helpful guys). Seriously, if your looking for a place to stay in Santa Cruz, look no further. On top you get free wifi internet, and parking. more

Our family comes to Santa Cruz every spring, we love the location as this is the closest to the boardwalk and the beach. This year we noticed that management has changed. They were very rude and loud. We request change of rooms as it smells bad, and got a new one that terribly smells like bleach and chemicals to cover the smell of a formerly smoke-room now being billed as a non-smoking room. New manager is shouting orders from the street, very unprofessional. more

This is one of the closest hotels near the boardwalk. All you have to do is cross the street and your at the boardwalk and ready for some carnival fun. The hotel itself has great views from every room. The service is friendly and the beds were always made. It is one of the nicest hotels right on the boardwalk. It is very kid friendly, no wild college students. I would highly recommend this hotel if you have a family and go to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. more
