Very good, clean rooms more

After reading the reviews on tripadvisor, we stayed at the Hampton inn and top 10 places.... until this past weekend. We've stayed at various $150-$200 range places in Santa Cruz and can't believe we've missed this one. It's by far the best value. You can get an ocean view room right across the main beach/boardwalk that's as clean the the Hampton suites and other higher priced alternative. Plus, you get a microwave, frig, internet, pool (no spa) and great front desk service) with juice/coffee in the AM and feel like you're in Santa Cruz with an oceanfront window. Wow! The service was fantastic and we were told they are under new management so previous reviews may not reflect the change. We go to Santa Cruz several times a year and won't stay anywhere else unless they're booked. more

We liked everything about this motel. It seems to have been recently renovated and everything was spotless. The room was comfortable, extremely clean and tastefully decorated. the bed was very comfortable and the bedding was spotless. The Bathroom looks to be new and the towels were spotless. Personal amenities were of a good quality. We will stay here again. more

My husband and I were very happy with this hotel. Convenient location across the street from the Boardwalk and beachfront, and there are many places to eat just around the corner or a short walk away. Not at all the hotel's fault, but it can be a bit noisy when the Boardwalk closes at 11:00pm and loud kids coming back to the hotel are running down the the second floor walkway to get back to their room. Front office staff was very polite. We would definitely stay here again! more

We stayed in Santa Cruz for a few days and found the Coastview Inn to be a very good value. Our room (209) had a bit of a beach and pier view. The bath and dressing area looked recently done over and very clean. The bedroom furniture (king bed) was very nice looking. The only criticism we had about the room was that the rug could have used a shampoo. Although there was a pool, we did not use it. Because if its proximity to the boardwalk, I can see how the location could be noisy in season, but we didn't have any problem in November. As noted in other reviews, Paul, at the front desk, is very helpful. The Coastview is not a resort, it's a motel, and with that in mind, it's a good place to sleep while enjoying the area. more

Enjoyed my stay in Santa Cruz. The Oceanview rooms were right off the beach. The hotel is walking distance to the boardwalk as well. Highly recommended and the manger Mike was great. more

This hotel is in the perfect spot to check out the wharf, hang out on the Boardwalk, head down town or hang out on the beach!!!! We didn't have a view from our room, but all we had to do was step out on the balcony right outside our door and we could see the wharf, watch people on the beach playing volley ball and street performers playing music and hear the sea lions all from the hotel!!! The room was cozy, there was ample space for 2 the unit was VERY clean and the housekeepers kept it clean for us every day!!! , Paul was awesome!!! We got in pretty late and he was there right away to get us checked in to our unit, he offered suggestions of where to go and what to do and got us all checked in and taken care of in record time!! more

I understand this motel has been under new management since August 2008 and has worked hard to overcome a bad rep and to change public perception. Given the reviews I've read from prior to the change in management and the time we stayed there (3/14-16/09) I would say they have been quite successful. Our experience was excellent. Our room/bed was comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. The microwave and refrigerator was a welcome commodity. A coffee maker would have been nice but for the price, we couldn't complain. Maid service was fine and the manager couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. The location is excellent; directly across the street from the beach and boardwalk, lots of good restaurants, everything within walking distance. We got a great rate from Priceline.com and although that did not apply to the waterview rooms, the manager, Jeff, put us in a room with the best view possible from our window. It was too cold and early in the year to use the pool but it appeared clean and well-maintained. We would have enjoyed a hot tub but understand that the motel simply does not have one. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and we will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends. In fact, we plan to book it for one of our singles group's weekend excursions. For the price and type of lodging, we give Coastview an excellent rating. Great job, Jeff! more

My Fiance and I went here on Feb. 16-17 for a Valentine's trip. We parked our car in the parking lot when we got there and didn't have to move it all weekend. It is located in the perfect spot. Cross the street and your at the Boardwalk and right down the street is the Wharf. We got a room with a view and it was beautiful. Best place I ever stayed more

The hotel is the best for cleanliness, location, price and friendly staff. Comfy bed, fridge & microwave were clean. I recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in santa cruz. more

The motel has been recently renovated and the job was excellent. The bed linens were spotless as well as the bath linens. We have stayed in hotels at 3 to 4 times the cost and this one is right at the top!. The staff was informative about the area and gave us great directions to dinner and way to continue our trip. We will be back and look forward to our next stay. A great big plus for us was that we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf. more

Our stay was very pleasant. Took my granddaughter there for her birthday for the week-end to go to the beach and broadwalk which was right across the street. . The front desk service people were so very helpful in anything we needed. The rooms were very clean. I would recommend this place.I will be staying there when i go back to Santa Cruz. more

The motel was very clean, and just across the street from all the entertainment, boardwalk, restaurants beach, and pier. In fact, there was not even one hotel or motel that was closer to the boardwalk than this one. Half of the rooms have a beach-view. Bed was good, shower was nice all in granite. Rooms had a 24" TV, mini fridge, microwave, iron and board, hairdryer and a new A/C unit. The best thing about this motel is its price, during the week its only $80 (summer) and $120 for the weekend, plus the owners work there full time (helpful guys). Seriously, if your looking for a place to stay in Santa Cruz, look no further. On top you get free wifi internet, and parking. more
