Closets By Design

I had a closet designed for my spare bedroom. It was explained to the designer the reason the closet was being redone as to accomodate my parents who visit for a month in the summer. I further explained I would need shelving because the room does not have a dresser for folded clothes. This was stressed. The closets was put in and immediately I noted the shelves where not wide enough to hold clothes. The installers told me to call the office to see what they could do. It has been 4 months since installation. They have done nothing but stall and send me a quote which would have me throwing away the closet I have and purchasing a brand new closet. Note the closet shelves are only 11" deep. I can not even put towels or sheets on it without them falling off. Further on the Hanging clothes side, when My dad who is only 5 foot 10" and is normal weight, could not hang a shirt without it hanging onto the clothes below. I recently went to home depot and I measured the ClosetMate brand shelves. This is a low end closet organization solution. There shelves are 15" deep. This is industry standard. Closet by Design is a ripoff. Do not work with them. more

VERY DISHONEST - DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. Now I know these others reviews are true - I felt trapped by them. They sold me something and but wrote the contract in such a way that they can come back and say "well this is the contract" to get what you want you need to pay extra. Beware of this company. They write the contract in a way to not reflect what was discussed. And to get what you really want, they will charge you extra. Obviously then you are trapped and you have to do it or your cabinets will look like crap. DO BUSINESS WITH CLOSET BY DESIGN IN SHIRLEY, MA AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! We had a terrible experience with Closets by Design in Shirley, Mass. The initial consultation spent over 3 hours on the first visit- which we were not warned would happen. We felt completely "trapped in the house" and had to completely change our plans that day. Next, the installation proved disastrous in that the designer was so incompetent that she had not allowed for the normal length of shirtsleeves and, as a result, the entire closet had to be redesigned. This took multiple phone calls and visits. We asked for some reasonable compensation for all the time and inconvenience we experienced but were denied this courtesy. We would never recommend this company to anyone in that their service is simply abysmal. more
