Best

Dr Meyer is not long on conversation, but he is amazing at eye surgery. Appointments are prompt and in only 2 months my 91 year old mother in law no longer needs $110 per bottle ...

Worst

I went to the one in West Seattle.\r If you have good insurances, look else where.\r For the Dr. They have so many patients to care for, but I still feel that they do their best...

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/17/2013

I am with another reviewer who said if she could leave minus stars on this clinic I would.\r I had an eye exam a week ago and here's how it went. Got there on time, was put in a room - waited 90 minutes before anyone came in - then Dr. Weingeist comes in and\r dialates my eyes, puts me in another area, 25 minutes later to come out and the Dr.\r is there. ALMOST 2 HOURS LATER!\r \r Then when I finally got to take to him about the exam - I asked why he didn't do the glaucoma testing that is supposed to be part of my exam. He told me he couldn't do it because he had dialated my eyes and that I would have to come back in 6 months to do that. I said, why didn't you it to begin with? Said he didn't realize it was supposed to be part of my visit. I asked if I could wait a year so that I wouldn't be charged for\r another visit and he said he wouldn't recommend that. \r \r Leaving very, very frustrated because I had been seeing Dr. Lechner here for years\r and the glaucoma testing was always part of my exam. ????\r \r On the advice of friends and looking at the other negative reviews, I decided to call\r their office manager (Louise Coones) to register a complaint and see if I could get\r the glaucoma testing at no additional cost. After waiting four days, I had to call her\r again for status and she told me she had met with the Dr. and he said he didn't have enough time to do the glaucoma testing because he was behind. I told the manager\r that wasn't my fault - I was there for 2 HOURS.......\r \r She then said, ""well, if you are not happy with this clinic, we would be happy to forward your records on to someone else for a second opinion"".\r \r That was totally unsatisfactory and I then told her that I would be posting negative reviews where I could and telling everyone I know to NOT GO THERE!!!!\r \r I will be requesting all records be sent to me for that purpose - for which she told me I would have to send them a letter requesting them. I recalled the clinic and\r found out all I need to do is go to the clinic and fill out a card and the records will be\r sent to me. \r \r DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!!!!! OTHER FRIENDS OF MINE HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES THERE more

AVOID AT ALL COST. My wife just left here in TEARS.\r \r She's had appointment for over a week to deal with a painful eye issue that's interfering with her ability to drive, work, and function. But apparently the eye doctor with whom she had the appointment decided to retire. Which wouldn't have been a problem, except that the West Seattle-Highline office staff didn't do anything about it. They. Did. Nothing. At. All.\r \r The office staff never reached out to my wife to inform her that the appointment they set just over a week ago was cancelled, even though they had her phone number and contact information. So she showed up expecting to have an appointment and solution for her pain and left with... nothing! The office staff couldn't transfer her to another doctor and said that the rest of their doctors were booked through the end of next month. WTF?!\r \r My wife had to stop work to come to this appointment, and that's the least of her concerns since she's in constant eye pain right now. What's wrong with this place that they treat their customers this way? The worst part is that my wife's been to this clinic before and had a good experience the first time. Well, she's not going again, that's for sure.\r \r DO NOT GO TO THE WEST SEATTLE-HIGHLINE EYE CLINIC. I refuse to support any business that FAILS so hard on customer service, especially for people who are in pain and need help the most. more

This is no ""Nordstrom"" experiences. 12/8/2011

I went to the one in West Seattle.\r If you have good insurances, look else where.\r For the Dr. They have so many patients to care for, but I still feel that they do their best to provide stardard treatments.\r Front desk seems very sweet. ( the older lady)\r The rest of the trolls, they could careless. They want you out of their face as soon as they can. You are just cattles. \r There is no insurace code for human thouch that they can charge, therefor you don't get NONE. more

91 year old can actually see! 6/22/2011

Dr Meyer is not long on conversation, but he is amazing at eye surgery. Appointments are prompt and in only 2 months my 91 year old mother in law no longer needs $110 per bottle eye drops for glaucoma (healed by a laser procedure) and doesn't need glasses for distance thanks to cataract surgery. I was VERY sceptical, but am now a huge fan! I'm telling everyone - whether laser procedures, eye exams, etc, I'll be seeing Dr Meyer and so will my whole family. Receptionists have been nice enough, and our 12 appointments so far have been great experiences! more

Good Doctor, poor front desk staff. 2/24/2011

The Doctor I have been seeing is great, but the front desk staff needs a good overhaul. They lack any kind of customer service skills. The person I believe who is the manager a middle aged women is the worse. I only continue to go there due to the location, otherwise I would go elsewhere in a heart beat. more

Best Eye care I've recieved in YEARS!!! 12/3/2010

I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Meyer for my Lasik and PRK earlier this year and am surprised to find mixed reviews regarding this practice. \r \r I found the staff to be warm, friendly, informative and inviting! The Dr. knew what he was doing and made very educated decisions in regards to my surgery and vision. He took care to explain the procedure, its risks, complications and benefits. I trust him 100% with my eye health and vision, which says a lot since you only get one set of eyes!! \r \r My overall experience was amazing, I now have BETTER than 20/20 vision without glasses!! I couldn't have asked for better care!! I would recommend West Seattle-Highline Eye clinic to anyone who takes their eye care seriously and expects quality care! more

DO NOT go here 9/30/2010

I had a terrible experience here with the extremely rude Dr. Mulligan. I'd give this place no stars if I could. I took my 84 yo mother there for a laser procedure. We live in West Seattle so it was a convenient choice since my mother is disabled. Dr. Mulligan came in with a scowl, and when my mom said, ""can I have a smile?"" Dr. Mulligan responded ""I'm not a monkey in a circus, I don't perform on command."" THIS IS AN EXACT QUOTE. Okay, not a great start but I was going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Ultimately he was unable to perform the routine, partly because my mom freaked out at having to have a lens placed on her eye. He didn't ever explain what he needed, and didn't try to calm her down. Finally he gave up. After we left the office, my mom was left with the feeling that she had done something wrong. To make matters worse, when I called the office a week later to request her records so they could be sent to a new doctor, they asked me why. I told them. And interestingly, the records never did get sent to the new office. Btw, a more patient, kinder doctor did perform the procedure a few weeks later without a hitch. Please don't subject yourself or your loved ones to the kind of treatment this place provides. more

Good location - terrible customer service 6/17/2009

If you don't mind navigating through one hassle after another just to get a pair of glasses, then this is your place.\r \r Recently tried to get two glasses (one for reading, the other for regular use.) Not a single thing turned out right:\r For the second time, Dr. Meyer's prescription was too strong; the computer glasses came in with both a damaged lens AND frame; the second pair not only had too powerful a lens but the weight of the frames almost broke my nose. \r \r Then came all the hassles with the refund. I'm still waiting! I wish I could say these were just isolated problems. But I've been coming to this clinic for several years, and I always seem to run into some sort of glitch. \r \r All in all, hardly the most professional, customer service friendly place. Pros: Good location Cons: Poor customer service more

The best eye clinic in the greater Puget Sound! 6/6/2009

Can't say enough about the quality of care and expertise that these two clinics (W Seattle & Highline) offer. I have several high end orhopedic and internal medicine physicians who speak highly of the opthomologists at this office. Dr Mulligan (and his colleagues), has been an ethical physician who will only suggest a procedure when truly needed. For example he would not perform lasik on me as he felt that it would not be in my best interests when others outside of these two clinics have suggested otherwise! \r \r The staff is friendly, efficient, and courteous. After seeing the couple of low reviews i felt i had to take the time and set real expectations. I feel it is not a ripoff as one reviewer stated due to a missed appt. cjarge. $50 is very inexpensive considering the time taken out of a physician day when you do not have the common courtesy or responsibilty to call prior to an appt (especially when set by the reviewer him/herself) The optical dept have some of the most friendly and effecient staff around. Mark and his colleagues are 1st rate and very business like, so not a lof time is wasted. I have also seen them take the extra time and care with some of the elderly patients who sometimes need a little extra. I have to agree with the large majority of reviewers that this is indeed a five star clinic. \r \r Hope this helps! Pros: World class MD's. Friendly, efficient staff Cons: None what so ever! more

Rude staff, good eye docs 9/10/2008

Ever see the movie Beetlejuice, in the waiting room of the afterlife? At least those freaks are interesting if obnoxious and unhelpful. Seriously, West Seattle Eye Clinic has some of the rudest people working there I've ever encountered in my life. But the reason it gets 3 stars in spite of this is that I love the doctors. So, go there on behalf of your eyes, but prepare to deal with incompetent and unfriendly staff. Pros: Docs Cons: Everyone Else more

Dr. Weingeist and his team are the greatest 9/10/2008

Dr. Weingeist and his team are the greatest. I recently had Lasik eye surgery and the results are amazing. The staff was always very helpful. Dr. Weingeist was able take me through all the details of surgery which made the procedure that much easier. He also takes care of my 3 year old son who loves to ask the question ""why"" as he checks out all the eye equipment. Dr. Weingeist made the check up fun and took the extra time to answer all my little patient's questions. Thank You. more

The Best Place To Go For Eye Care 9/2/2008

I have had nothing but positive experiences with the West Seattle Eye Clinic. I have gone to both locations and always receive excellent care. Dr. Meyer and his staff took the time to get to know me and it showed in the results. I had an annoying condition with my eyes that several other doctors could not fully address. Dr. Meyer did a thorough exam and diagnosed my condition in one visit. His treatments have always been spot on. He even helped me out at the beginning of allergy season on a Sunday when the office was closed. Dr. Meyer reminds me of what the old time country docs were all about: service to patients. Pros: Takes the time to understand the problem. Caring. Excellent technical skills and knowledge. Cons: None. Free coffee would be nice, but I bet Dr. Meyer would arrange it if I asked! more

Excellent, Knoledgeable Doctor, Great with Kids 7/27/2008

I recently went to WSEC for my 3-yr old son and myself. It was his first exam and both Dr. Meyer and his team did everything to make it comfortable and fun for him. I found Dr. Meyer to be very knowledgeable and helpful. The exams were thorough and he explained every step on the way. He later provided us with a copy of an article from a medical journal pertaining to our specific case to take home. \r Our son since got glasses and as you can imagine they need constant fixing because they have to endure some rough play. Instead of constantly going to the special children's place in Wallingford where we bought them we can always bring them in to WSEC and get them fixed at no charge. One week we had to get them readjusted 3x and it was a huge relieve to have these great doctors and staff in the neighborhood. Pros: Excellent eye care right in your neighborhood more

Great clinic, great care. 7/25/2008

I can?t say enough good things about West Seattle Eye Clinic, Dr. Meyer, and all the staff here. I?ve gotten excellent care, including everything from routine eye exams through glaucoma surgery and follow-up. Based on my experience, at least half a dozen family members have started going to this clinic also and they are also very positive about their care and treatment. Dr. Meyer is a great doctor. He and his backup Dr. Mulligan are professional, friendly, compassionate, well-informed and thorough. So are all the gals and guys in both offices and the clinical assistants too! Location is not as important as the level of care in choosing a medical professional, obviously. But having two locations is super-convenient for errands in Burien (Highline) or Westwood Village. I?m really surprised to read any negative reviews of this clinic as they've done a wonderful job for me, my family and my senior parents. I urge anyone looking for routine eye care and especially, glaucoma care to call West Seattle Eye Clinic. Pros: consistently excellent care & professional, compassionate, friendly folks more

kid friendly office 7/19/2008

I have taken my three kids to the West Seattle Eye Clinic for the past two years. I have had a great experience at every visit. The office looks beautiful and up-to-date. The staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Dr. Meyer was very patient and skilled in getting my kids to cooperate during the exam. He explained everything that was doing to happen to my kids (as well as to me) in a clear and thoughtful manner. Even my youngest one, who was a little scared, was amused by the different toys Dr. Meyer used during the exam and soon was laughing. I think the West Seattle Eye Clinic is a wonderful office and I feel fortunate to have it in my neighborhood. Pros: great eye care for the entire family more

The most skilled surgeons I have ever seen. They are not only knowledgable, but extremely skilled. They obviously love the work they do, and always treat people with dignity. 7/17/2008

The care they gave my father and step mother went beyond just a physician/:patient relation. The care they gave to this elderly couple was appreciated by them and by me. I have had friends ask me who to go to for their eye checkups and I always send them to this clinic. \r \r Not only ae the doctors great, the staff takes their time and are very professional when working with patients. They made me feel wuite comfortable and cared for. The appointments ran on time and everyone treated me well. They are wonderful.\r had my eyes checked by Dr. Meyer recently, he was thorough and\r genuinely concerned about me. His concern about my eye health was\r related to 'bands' on my eyes and why they occurred. I was treated\r professionally and competently.\r \r I purchased bifocal glasses at their optical department. Andy is the\r epitome of preofessionalism, and was able to order PERFECT bifocals for\r me. There was no need to get used to the bifocal being placed higher or\r lower on my lenses, and they work wonderfully.\r \r Staff in the office were punctual anf capable. The office ran on time\r and I never felt rushed.\r \r \r Great place for eye exams and care of their patients.\r \r \r Pros: Physicians, their skills and staff Cons: Too bad it can't be cloned and closer to my home. more

West Seattle Eye Clinic The Best Around!! 7/17/2008

As a Surgical Technologist of 22 years I have had an opportunity to see many different facilities and work with Surgeons of all specialties. Dr. Meyer and Mulligan are both exceptional doctors, with whom I have trusted not only my vision but that of my spouse. The technology that is being used for LASIK at West Seattle Eye Clinic is State of the art. The operating suite at West Seattle Eye is staffed by Highly skilled professionals, and goes beyond the required standards to provide safe, efficient and highly quality care. I had my LASIK surgery there almost a year ago and it has been incredible. I'm still amazed by the clearity of my vision and how vibrant colors are. I have recommended several of my friends to West Seattle Eye and will continue to do so. Pros: Easy to access, take all types of insurance Cons: none that I can think of more

Only Eye Clinic to which I entrust my eyes! 7/17/2008

I have been going to the West Seattle Eye Clinic for three years now, and I absolutely LOVE it. Last year, Dr. Weingeist did Lasik eye surgery, and I cannot be happier! He always has a smile on his face and is willing to listen to what your issues are. In addition, the staff has always been courteous and have always had a smile on their face. Like the title says, Only Eye Clinic to which I entrust my eyes.\r Pros: Courteous, caring, attentive Cons: none that i can think of! more

great eye care 7/16/2008

love these guys: friendly, quick, very thorough - I've only had top quality care here and never have to wait long to get in. I highly recommend Dr Weingeist and his associates. more

Great service and practical advice 7/15/2008

I've visited the West Seattle Eye Clinic on many occasions and have had a great experience. There was no problem getting an appointment and the staff was very professional and courteous. Like other reviewers I had Dr. Weingeist and couldn't be more positive about the experience. He's very personable, knowledgeable and offers practical advice about eye health. I'd definitely recommend seeing him. more
