THE CLASSROOM HAS THE MOST AMAZING FOOD. FROM THE APPETIZERS TO THE DESSERTS. THE ZUCCHINI APP. IS A MUST TRY AND THE COCONUT SHRIMP ON THE SUMMER MENU IS TO DIE FOR. IF YOU LIKE STEAK, YOU HAVE TO TRY THE FILET IT JUST MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. THE SERVICE THAT WE HAD WAS JUST AS GOOD AS THE FOOD. YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS RESTURANT YOU WILL LOVE IT! Pros: FOOD, ATMOSPHERE, SERVICE more

Not Good... 3/6/2008

Very poor meal...In fact, it was the worst meal that I have had in quite some time. Flavorless rice, unseasoned broccoli, and lackluster salmon underwhelmed my palate. If you have ever craved dry, overcooked duck, then the Classroom is the place for you! Otherwise, I would advise that you "skip" the classroom altogether. From the lack of crowd (My date and I were the only patrons), the word is out on the classroom. "Teacher may I be excused from the Classroom Restaurant? Yes, you may!" more

V-day 2/14/2008

I took a friend to the Classroom on V-day. We were both very excited to have dinner there because we had both been there in the past and had a great dinner. This time however, we were very disappointed. The service was great but the dinner was not so wonderful. We paid about one hundred dollars for the two of us and were both very disappointed. The salad was out of this world but the dinner itself was nothing to brag about. The main dish was very small and very common. My fish was very small and the steak was as well. The vegys and the potato were just plain and I am sure that my home cooking would have been much more tasty. Let alone the fact that the portions were very small. I must say that I might not ever go there again. I could not even e-mail them to let them know how bad it really was. There is no other way of contacting them other than a phone call. By this point, I am to tired and dissappointed to even phone to complain. Pros: ambience Cons: value and taste for the cost more

Great Customer Service 12/27/2007

The perfect place for a small gathering of great friends, with excellent service, food and atmosphere. Chuck and Shawn were pleasant to work with from the very first contact by phone to plan a Christmas party. Three weeks later, we had forty happy guests celebrating at The Classroom Restaurant. The evening was great with friendly service and an excellent selection of entrees. I highly recommend The Classroom. more

Avoid this restaurant 12/26/2005

On December 27, 2005, I ordered the Boston Scrod and the fish was under cooked. I sent it back and it returned still under cooked after five minutes. It appears that they try to recook the fish in a microwave oven which is far cry from the practices of good restaurants. I sent the meal back. My wife had a chicken caesar salad which was average at best. The experience at the Classroom Restaurant was very disappointing and I do not recommend this Eatery. more

  • In Short
Entrees scrawled on a blackboard may sound passe, but the approach feels novel at the converted Thompsonville School owned by Chef Chuck Davis and his wife Shawn. The history of the building informs the design throughout, via original hardwood floors, dark wainscotting and even an old schoolbell. More modern touches, like framed artwork made by Davis's children, add to the charm. The menu--with daily pasta and seafood specials--is traditional American with seasonal influences.
