Editorial review from Citysearch 1/15/2013

I have been bringing my dog to Classy Canines for a couple years now. He was recently ""groomed"" and before we got him home we noticed a huge gash in his tongue. My wife brought him back there immediately seeking some explanation and then to the vet. He needed to be placed on antibiotics. I called Classy Canines for an explanation only for the owner to rudely say that it must have happened when he ""jumped"" in the car. She offered no apology, no refund for the grooming or vet bill and claimed the dog must have ""bit"" it off. Talk about a bad groomer and a bad business!!!! She said she felt bad for the dog for having an owner like me and then hung up the phone. My only mistake was not looking at this site before bringing him there. It seems from reading these reviews that the owner/groomer has made several damaging mistakes while working with our pets. more

First Impressions...Everlasting 5/22/2012

Wow! I just called to try and make an appointment for my 7 month old King Charles (full breed) and was NOT welcomed. I was told that he would require additional vaccinations, I thought I was calling a groomer not a veterinarian. The ironic thing was they could provide these services for me....why have I been paying a Vet for the past 5 months? I could of just went to the groomer. My puppy has had all of his shots and I don't think my Vet who has been in business for over 40 years would take to kindly of Classie Canines saying that he has no idea what he is doing....You should rename to NOT-SO-CLASSY. more

Absolutely Amazing! 4/19/2010

I have been sending my dog to Classie Canines for 3 years now and cannot say enough good things about this doggie daycare. The staff is incredibly friendly and each member truly has a genuine love for dogs. They know every dog on a first name basis and hide absolutely nothing from the owners. I was hesitant about sending my dog to one when she was a puppy but CC's was great. The took me around for a tour and after seeing the facility (which is huge!) I was sold. They take their jobs very seriously and do temperment screening on all dogs before they can be admitted. In the past, my dog has gotten sick upon arrival and they have treated her with the utmost care. She suffers from Entropia and they quickly cleaned her eyes and separated her from the other dogs until she could see again. I also love that some of the vet. technicians from Lloyds Animal Clinic work there. It makes me feel that much more confident in their staff. The dogs are never left unattended. There is always a staff member in with the pets. I also like that they separate the large dogs from the small dogs. The dogs are free to roam in or outside at their own wish. When a dog is boarded, it is not kept in a cage for it's entire visit. It is given a temperment test and is allowed to participate in doggie daycare. This facility is staffed for 24 hours a day. Quite honestly, I could not ask for a better doggie daycare for my dog. Each month Linda (owner) sends out a newsletter informing 'parents' of the most recent doggie news, flea & tick medications, any illnesses such as doggie flu, and any possible health hazards for dogs (such as cocoa mulch or ice melt) as the seasons change. I also love that when I drop my dog off to play, I can request a bath that day and it's done for me. What I've learned is that this staff is very well educated, very well trained, and very loving towards animals. They take in animals that have been abandoned, participate at charity events for animals, and help raise money for local shelters with animals in need of surgery. The Allen's and their staff are all around good, hardworking people that have a passion for animals and their treatement. Without them, my dog wouldn't get to experience social interaction with her canine friends in the slightest.\r \r Thanks for 3 great years and many more to come Classie Canines! Pros: Excellent, Knowledgeable Staff, Friendly, Safe Environment more

Terrible unfriendly cold staff 2/3/2010

I wouldn't send a hamster here. The staff has no idea about animal behavior. My dog stayed for a temperament screening and wouldn't go near the staff member when I picked him up. My dog is very social and loves people but hated them. That right there tells me a lot. The grooming is nothing but a hack job. All they ave going for them is a nice presentable facility but dig deep and its nothing but a shit hole! Good luck to people that decide to use them. The staff is awful!!! more

amazing! 11/22/2009

I had first taken my dog to a different doggy daycare because of the convenient location, but my pup unfortunately got booted out because his boisterous (not aggressive) behavior was too much for staff to handle. I'm so glad I found Classie canines, because I was afraid I would have to rehome him due to his separation anxiety issues... not anymore! The differences between the two facilities give me an even greater respect for Classie canines and the way that the dogs are handled.. the facility nicer, the staff is MUCH more knowledgeable, and the groomer is fantastic. they do temperament testing in a way that allows the staff to accurately evaluate your dog, rather than two dogs meeting face to face while still on leashes (like at the first place I went). the staff is willing to work with my dog, and they are fantastic. you can watch them interact with the dogs through a two way mirror and I was extremely impressed with what I saw. they do use prong collars on some dogs (mine included) but they ask your permission first. I can't say enough great things about this place...my dog is so happy coming here which tells me everything. Pros: knowledgable staff, safe place Cons: none! more

lousy groomer 6/18/2009

stay away! the groomer cut our dog on TWO separate occasions in the past six months. the last time the cut wasin two places and one was so large (~2 in) we had to take it to the doctor afterwards. not only did they not tell us anything when we picked the dog up but after we realized what had happened and complained they had the nerve to say to our faces that we must have brought the dog there hurt already. stay away, far far away!!! Pros: dogsitting Cons: dogcutting more

Awwwwsome Place!! Thank you Classie Canines 8/26/2008

This place is the creme de la creme of doggie daycares. It is top of the line in space, cleanliness, knowlege and staff. It is completely open - your dog decides if he wants to run around outside on the playground or swim in the pools or if he wants to be inside and play where it is always temperature controlled , or if he wants to lay half in and half out just to chill. They are so loving to my dog and he is so excited when we start our journey down the street to their facility, I swear he knows when we are heading in their direction!! Any questions I've ever had have been answered by the staff with the utmost knowledge. They even have Doctors, Trainers and Techs from other facilities and Vet Hospitals that bring their dogs to this place....that sold me!! If you truly want the best place to bring your dog to while you have to be away from him then you have to bring him to this place, you won't be sorry. I'm just sorry I waited so long before I tried it.... Pros: Space, Cleanliness, Knowledge and Staff more

SEE FOR YOUSELF, FORM YOUR OWN OPINION 8/16/2008

It is unfortunate one ill guided, misinformed, uneducated dog owner and his internet addicted friends have nothing better to do than hide cowardly behind a blog site to make untrue slanderous remarks and are not seeking the truth just seeking to pass time with gossip. Thank - you to all of you who are trying to defend us from such slander however, please stop responding to these ridiculous accusations.\r As we always have we welcome ALL visitors any time!!! more

best doggy daycare around 8/15/2008

For the past few weeks I have been researching daycares in the area to bring my two dogs to. Without a doubt this is the best local doggy daycare. When I went for my tour of the facility I was so impressed with the amount of space and how clean the building was. The staff that I met were very friendly and knew so much about the dogs that were there. They clearly love the dogs and take good care of them. There were a ton of toys for the dogs to play with and kiddie swimming pools for them to play in. I noticed a few dogs with pronged collars on and when I asked about itI was told that this was to prevent certain dogs from starting fights. Cameras were placed all around the building and I watched the staff interacting with the dogs on the monitor. I couldn't find anything wrong with the place and I am excited for my dogs to start daycare next week. I would recommend this daycare to anybody. Pros: clean building, caring staff, constant supervision more

looks great but not the best 8/15/2008

they have one of the best facilities around. what a great area for a daycare. unfortunately once you start digging, it's not so impressive. not surprised they use prong collars. they have too many dogs per staff member in the big dog room. i suggest people stop in at random times during the day. the typical person who drops off at 7 am and picks-up at 5 pm and blindly hopes all is well is not going to know any better. notice the website has no philosophy on training or dog behavior. that is a red flag. i think in a pinch this place is fine for someone who can't be bothered, but personally i would only leave my dog somewhere where they give you full reports on your dog and how they deal with their behaviors. if they really are using prong collars, that is absolutely irresponsible. i suggest asking yourself if they do because your dog could be at risk.\r more

My dog loves going to Classie Canines to see his friends 8/14/2008

I`ve been bringing my dog to Classie Canines for six months now and he loves it. The place is big they have a small room and a big room to separate the dogs sizes for safety. Its clean the staff is friendly, they have great hours since I can drop off my dog on the way to work at 6:30 am, I highly recommend this doggie daycare. Pros: Hours, friendly staff ,location more

My doggy home away from home! 8/14/2008

My name is Pixie and I asked my owner to type this review for me.\r \r \r I am a long term client of Classie Canines - in fact, I have been attending Doggy Daycare since the facility opened! I have nothing but praise for the excellent and knowledgeable staff! \r \r \r Now, you may say, you're a dog, what do you know? Well, I know my owner loves me very much and would NEVER trust me in the hands of someone she didn't trust VERY much. So I know she researched the facility thoroughly before bringing me and even went there on the recommendation of our veterinarian! I know that she trusts my wellbeing to Linda, the owner, and her hand chosen and well trained staff - and I know that her trust has been well placed. Everyone there is SO loving and kind, I just can't wait to get in the building to play (in fact, I used to get so excited to see all my friends that when I went inside I would ""happy piddle"" but I outgrew that mostly!) \r \r \r I also know that sometimes we (by ""we"" I mean dogs) can be unpredictable, and THAT'S when the staff truly shines - jumping in and ""refereeing"" our play so nothing ever gets too rough! Hey, we're dogs, sometimes we get a little over stimulated, you know? Play NEVER escalates beyond just play! And there are more kisses and hugs than I could ever wish for (and I LOVE kisses and hugs). Everyone cares very much about my health and wellbeing. Heck, they even remember my birthday when my owner doesn?t! \r \r \r As far as I'm concerned, I can't wag my tail enough about Classie Canines. If my owner had a tail, she'd wag it too - but I guess she does that funny thing with her mouth where her teeth show (""smiling"" you call it). I know my owner is happy that I am happy - and I know my owner realizes the value of finding a home away from home for me that cares for me as much as she does. She'd never leave me in hands any less loving than hers.\r \r \r That?s the honest truth ? dog?s don?t lie. Pros: great hours (open saturdays and sundays), friendly knowledgable staff Cons: none that I can think of more

Best Dog Daycare in the area! 8/14/2008

I researched for two full weeks before deciding on a day care I felt I could trust with my new puppy. I visited many facilities in the area at different times before choosing Classie Canines. From the moment I walked in my first time, I felt this could be the best place for her. The staff was always friendly and answered all my questions. I was particularly impressed by the amount of staff and supervision it offers. Safety is clearly a priority in this facility. Both the large dog area and the small dog areas are supervised to ensure everyone is having a great time. My dog loved Classie Canines from the moment she walked in. The facilites are always clean and I can leave her feeling at peace. In addition, they offer boarding and there is always an adult in the premises to ensure all dogs are doing well and taken care of. I have never had a bad experience at Classie Canines. Everyone is friendly and loving towards all dogs. I highly recommend this day care facility to anyone who loves their dog. My dog loves it and looks forward to it EVERY DAY!!!! Pros: Staff, Safety, Facilities more

An amazing daycare. 8/14/2008

I have to say that I am horrified to read what jpsull has to say about Classie Canines. I have been taking my dog to Classie Canines for well over a year now and I have seen nothing but exceptional treatment from everyone that works there. I drop my dog off there on a weekly basis and I have NEVER seen the front desk unattended. The owner, Linda and the rest of the staff there know me and they know my dog and treat both of us respect. Linda cares about every dog in her place as if they were her own so I find it very hard to believe that she would allow anyone to walk in off the street and take a dog just because that person knew the dogs name. I also don't understand what the barbershop next door has to do with Classie Canines. Those dogs don't come to the daycare and there is a fence there. It's not like the staff can have the babershop dogs removed, they belong to someone else. I know many people that would highly recommend Classie Canines and personally think you'd be crazy to take your dog anywhere but there. Pros: Staff, Owner, facilities more

Shady and deceptive: Run away! 8/13/2008

BEWARE: Classie Canines uses PRONGED collars during daycare. They do not tell you this. I used them for months before I caught them in the act. It wasn't just on my dog either. All I got was excuses and the brushaway. Pronged training collars are not to be used in an interactive daycare setting. They are for one on one training. Ask any trainer. No collars should be used in daycare. That is an extreme choking/injury risk. These people are deceptive and shady. They are often understaffed and the front desk is routinely unattended. As long as they have your pet's name, anyone can walk off the street and be handed your dog. The regular staff couldn't care less. This is a seemingly good place until you start checking it out. There is also a barbershop next door that leaves out a rottweiler and other unfriendly dogs....they share a fence with the small dog outdoor area for Classie Canines. Someday those dogs are going to get through that fence! Scary stuff people. I can not recommend this place to anybody who loves their dog. more

much better daycares around. 3/29/2008

I went by out of curiousity, nice looking facility, fairly clean. However, I'm not sure if I would leave my pet there. The staff didn't seem to knowledgeable with dog behavior, and the boarding prices are extremely expensive. If you are looking for a modern facility without consideration to the actual knowledge it takes for caring for your pets, then this is the place for you. Good luck. I'd recommend looking around at other places, try to find one that has answers to all your pet caring questions, don't just judge by looks!! Pros: modern facility Cons: not skilled enough, high prices. more
