I am a regular of the Plaza restaurant/coffee scene. I have a European leaning in taste and enjoy the outdoor european cafe atmosphere of this restaurant. The food is good and sophisticated, mixing mediterranean fare with the obligatory need to meet the american palate for steak and meat dishes. Meals begin with a basket of fresh white and brown bread. It's the perfect place to start with a lemon-infused sparkling water or glass of wine. There is also a back patio area perfect for drinks with friends on the weekends. If I were to improve the place, it would probably be in the area of service. Most servers are friendly, but not professional or refined enough, for my taste, for this sort of restaurant. Often the servers are college age students making some coin, which I do appreciate, but believe the management needs to do a better job training them. My last visit was sadly unpleasant as a rather rude male server with an attitude refused to double check the ingredients of a soup dish I was interested in (""I know what is in the soup, I don't need to recheck.""). I recognized his impeccable memory, but due to past experience, I asked him to do so anyway. Again, ""I know what is in the soup, I don't need to recheck."" The mind boggles. NOTE TO CLASSIC CUP CAFE MANAGEMENT: THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! Terminate that waiter and reeducate the remaining staff that the customers comes first and foremost to be served, not just food! I wasn't going to return after the last time, but I will let it pass this one time, figuring that it was a blip.
