Review content:
The policy of this establishment that was stated to me over the phone today by the owner as he stumbled over his words is that any party larger than 4 will be seated in their so called Classic Cellar. This is basically the dark basement of the establishment. This policy is not listed on their boastful web site or on the door of the establishment or on their menu they so proudly display in the window. We spent $100 to be seated in what we were told was the party room on Nov. 29,2008. We had 4 children between the ages of 12 and 16. We were taken down at least 3 sets of stairs passed a door that went outside to the alley. The food was nothing special and the owner must think it is fine dinning based on the price. The 2 adults in the party had their $8 black bean chili which is basically bean soup and the bill was still $100. The service was slow and refills on drinks were far and few between of course the waiter had to run up the steps. The night manager very sorry and stated he didn't want anyone to feel that they were discriminated against and he would take care of us if we would return. He never sent anything out so when I called to check I was able to speak to the owner. He thinks his establishment is so good that you are honored to eat there. I think they are discriminating against families with children. Everyone seated in the basement were parties of 4 and larger. The interesting thing I noticed was everyone had children. The owner said the only way he discriminates is that he seats all parties of 5 and larger in his wonderful classic cellar. Most restaurants that have open tables of 4 or 2 will pull together. We didn't get a reduced rate to be in a cellar and not enjoy the candles on the table and the view of the plaza and the Christmas decorations. He stated his regulars that have children are seated up in the dinning area. Interesting his regulars another discriminating statemant
