Make it a CC Lake night 1/21/2011

Good: I like that this theatre is a bit more upscale than the other chain competitors. It's located in an area surrounded by nice restaurants and shops, which is definitely a plus. This theatre also runs some limited release titles that you won't see at the other chains either.. Bad: There are only a couple negatives I can think of. Parking is a little more inconvenient than going to a theatre with its own lot, and when it's really busy inside there isn't a lot of room in some of the hallways.. more

Lake Theatre: A Very Nice, Clean Place to Enjoy Movies 3/18/2006

Oak Park’s Lake Theatre is a local landmark, and understandably so once you walk inside. The theaters have been remodeled/restored and evoke all the feeling of what they might have been like in the “glory days.” I wouldn’t go see a visual-effects epic here—there’s neither stadium seating nor gigantic projection screens—but that’s not its selling point. Rather, it’s the ability to see a new movie in a smaller (in some cases, much smaller) room—a more cozy yet inviting experience for the less visually intense movies (i.e. date movies) that get released. Of course, expect to pay steep prices for non-matinee tickets and food, but at least the popcorn refills and toppings are free. more

An Oak Park landmark 3/17/2006

This historic theater is located in the heart of downtown Oak Park. Oak Park loves to boast about one of their famous citizens, Frank Lloyd Wright, but they should also boast about this classic theater that I believe was built in the 1930's. They have modernized the inside so they can now show a few different first run films at one time, for a price that is less than your giant multiplex. more

Student Discount 7/29/2005

This is a great little theatre in the heart of downtown Oak Park. What makes this place a theater that I want to visit again and again as opposed to ones closer to my home is the fact that they offer a student discount. If you bring and show them your Student ID, your ticket will only run you $6.50. Elsewhere tickets will easily run you $9.00. For this reason, I would highly recommend this theater for the younger crowd and I think more movie theaters should follow its example. Another great feature of this theater is the variety of films it offers. Not only will you find popular new releases, you can also find independent and indie films at this location. more
