Avoid for surgery 10/27/2008

I took my dog to Dr. Weigand for surgery to correct his medial luxating patella (knee caps popping out). He convinced me that he was very experienced and performed these surgeries a lot. After recovery, my dog's knee cap is still not fixed (now he has to have this knee re-done as well as the other one done). He tried to tell me that this was common, though when I had an appointment for a check-up he didn't even remember what kind of surgery he had performed (he thought it was an ACL)!! I lost complete confidence in him and in retrospect I should have NEVER let any vet who was not BOARD CERTIFIED perform surgery on my pet. more

Best Vet in area! 4/27/2006

Since 1992 I have taken all of my 4-legged kids (dogs and cats) to Dr. Weigand. He is extremely compassionate, gentle, caring, concerned, knowledgeable, and up to date on veterinary medicine. You couldn't ask for a better vet. I highly recommend him! Regarding the declaw post...don't look at the overall picture...each patient is different and each ""parent"" is different, as well as the home situation. What's better declaw or animal shelter? Each situation is specific. A good home with a loving family is what counts. I am an animal proponent and can assure you that Dr. Weigands highest concern is for his patients! Pros: knowledgeable, compassionate, caring more

Professional and attentive. 7/10/2005

For the past six years, all of our spoiled animals (three dogs and one cat) have been under Dr. Weigand's care. I'm in the process of adding another four-legged member to our family and cannot wait to introduce him to Dr. Weigand once he arrives. On top of his caring staff, Dr. Weigand is absolutely personable and provides an unbelievably comfortable environment for both pets and owners. more

Excellent Vet 7/1/2002

Dr. Weigand is one of the best vets I've ever used. He takes his time with you, seems to have a great rapport with the animals, and is great at explaining answers to any questions you might have. When our cat was diagnosed with a heart problem the pills we first tried (perscribed by a different vet) just didn't work--our cat refused to swallow them and frothed at the mouth they tasted so bad. Dr. Weigand did some research for us and came up with an alternative remedy--applying a cream to his ear--no pills. We deeply appreciated the extra work he put in to finding a regime that would work for us. more
