I have been getting my hair done by Nicole for over a year now and have never been disappointed. It is very hard to find a hairdresser that can give you the exact style you want or give you ideas for something new. I am always impressed with her work and always recieve compliments on the amazing job she does. I would recomend her to everyone!! Pros: Looking fabulous! more

I got a hair color from Aqua this weekend and I have never been happier with my hair. Nobody ever treated my hair better than Bianca did. She listened and incorporated all my requests perfectly. She took her time and did an awesome job. I'm definitely going back to her. Highly recommended :) Pros: Great prices,great people more

Bianca,where have you been all my life.... I have never enjoyed having my hair done more. I love the color, the highlights, the cut so very very much... My husand who generally doesn't even know I had anything done said ""your hair looks nice"" as soon as he saw me. Wow. I have finally found a hairdresser. Have gotten all wow compliments. I started going to aqua salon a little over a year ago after trying some other so called ""upscale"" salons in the downtown royal oak area. From my very first experience at aqua i was floored at how professional yet layed back the staff was. Matt has been nothing short of a miracle worker because after i spent almost 200 at a salon a couple blocks away (and my hair was BOTCHED!), he was happy to accept the challenge of my botched hair and turned it into the most beautiful hair i have had since i was a little girl and the price was almost half of what i paid at the snobby salon that messed it up to begin with. Matt has a client for life because i know he loves making people beautiful. thank you matt! I never thought i would find the hairdresser of my dreams but i have! AWESOME SALON WITH THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICDE!!! 3/19/2009

The salon is clean, upbeat, fun, and my hair is awesome. I seen Martha and she was funny, talkative, and my hair looked great. I got my sisters to switch over to Martha and they loved her too. My highlights were perfect and my color was exactly what I wanted. The staff was so nice. I would refer anyone to the salon. check it out if you get the opportunity. Pros: talented stylists and friendly receptionists Cons: none i really enjoyed my experience more

Aqua is perfect! 3/19/2009

I've been going to Nicole at Aqua for a while and she is by far the best stylist i've ever had! Not only are the prices at aqua great (and trust me I am a broke college student so I know), but i get so excited everytime i go to see her since I know I will leave looking awesome! I usually schedule an appointment right before a big event. I have had so many people compliment my hair and ask me who did it, even complete strangers! I always tell them to call Aqua and ask for Nicole! more

I have been to Nicole at Aqua Salon three times so far and cannot imagine ever going anywhere else again!! She is amazing with color (which I am very picky about) and my cut is always great! I love the atmosphere of the salon and everyone is always so nice. I have been to a lot of salons that make you feel uncomfortable and Aqua is not like that at all. I always love my experience and look forward to going back. I would recommend Aqua to everyone! more

I recently went to aqua salon after a friend recommended it to me.. I have been to every fancy salon around so i was curious to see what they could do to make my fine, lifeless, dull hair into something beautiful. When i arrived for my appointment i was kinda surprised when everyone was really nice and not at all snooty like a lot of salons in the area. My stylist was Martha and she really went above and beyond my expectations.. Not only was she funny and entertaining, but my hair is so beautiful now. The perfect shade of blonde with highlights and the cut is absolutely perfect! Not to mention when i went up to the front desk to pay (preparing myself for the worst) the price was unbelievably cheap! I thought they had a mix-up!! I didn't experience cold water and no heat like the reviewer previous did, in fact i couldn't be happier. Thanks aqua and Martha for making me feel and look beautiful without ripping me off! I will be back without a doubt. Pros: gorgeous hair without getting ripped off! Cons: bring cash for tip more

AQUA, YOU GUYS NEED TO GET YOUR S*%T TOGETHER!!! 3/9/2009

I have never experienced a salon like this. I can't believe other people would say this is a 5 star salon! I wouldnt even say you deserve 1 star, other than the fact that you have 1 great stylist named Amy that works their! I have given this salon a few chances thinking things would get better, but never did. Not only on my first visit, but also my second, my head was washed in freezing cold water!! I was told both times that it would be fixed, and it would not happen again. Well because I love Amys work, I gave it another chance. Of course calling before I returned, asking if they had hot water, I booked my next appointment. When I arrived It was a very cold day and in the middle of the service I was informed that the heat did not work!! WHAT KIND OF SALON IS THIS??? Get your S*%T together Aqua!! And to top it off, when I asked the receptionist if I could speak to a manager, she RUDLY replied ""We don't have a manager."" WHAT? I guess that just speaks for itself! I wouldnt recomend Aqua to my worst enemie! more

Go to Amy, shes amazing! I had my hair done by someone else and it didnt come out right, she fixed it and made it look amazing and it was much cheaper than i thought it would be! Everyone was soo nice! Pros: Friendly, affordable, clean! Cons: Parking, Just take quarters with you to park at a meter more

Downtown Royal Oak has a really fun, hip atmosphere and Aqua Salon totally fits in, and they do it without the snooty attitude I've gotten at some other establishments. The employees I met were trendy, attractive and friendly girls... but they weren't the type to put natural female competition over their jobs. I saw Bianca for a hair cut and described what I wanted (a Victoria Beckham bob, not her latest style). About 20 minutes later she was finished and it looked great, but I decided I wanted it a bit shorter. Without batting an eye, she modified the cut until I was totally satisfied, then styled it to perfection! It is literally better than I had imagined it, as my hair was quite damaged from a tragic salon visit back in early August. The price was a reasonable $40, but keep in mind you cannot put the tip on your credit or debit card and will have to either bring cash or use their ATM! \r \r This was a great job for the price and area, and I will definitely come back here next time, and I'd recommend it to my friends! Great service and prices! 6/20/2008

I visited Aqua Salon yesterday for the first time. Going to a new stylist is always nerve-racking, but have no fear!! First of all, I love Ulysses!! Everyone there was so nice and fun. I like the fact that the salon is upscale, but not snobby at all. I saw Matt and am convinced that I will never go to anyone else again. He gave me the PERFECT blonde (for the first time in years!) I am very picky about my color, and usually feel that it's too stripey, too gold etc...., but this is perfect. He also gave me a great cut. I took a picture in of the bangs I wanted and they look exactly like the picture. I'm growing the bottom of my hair out and he respected that. He was very confident and kept telling me how excited he was about my hair, which made me feel good. To top it all off, when I went to pay, I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was!!! Is this too good to be true!?! Wish I would've found them sooner! more

My impression of Amy of Aqual Salon , Downtown Royal Oak is nothing but professional and creative. She has a gift in using the right color for your hair and in communicating with her clients. Her skills in cutting hair is also superb. She knows what she does and gave me a beautiful hair cut I ever had for almost 8 years (yes, it is true I did not have a good hair stylist for that long). Picture Perfect! 2/2/2008

My Daughter and I went to Nicole for haircuts. I brought a picture in of what I wanted. My hair looks better than the picture, Nicole did a perfect cut for me! I can't ever remember having my hair look this good. \r I keep looking in the mirror to see who's awesome hair it is... It's mine!!! She did an incredible job on my very picky Daughter's hair, it looks so beautiful she is so very happy with it! more
