Best

One of our favorite places to eat out. Casual, good service, good food, good beer selection. Great to sit outside on the not so hot days! Pros: parking Cons: loud inside

Worst

I am an admitted City Beverage junkie. My friends tease me because everytime we go out, my first choice is City Beverage. I have always been thrilled with my experience. Sure.....

Fun hang out - Horrible Service 11/3/2005

I am a regular here and I think that the food is pretty good, however a little over priced ($17 for a bowl of soup and it is not even a fancy place). However I must say the food is good. The service is HORRIBLE!!! It takes for ever to get your drinks refilled and the waiters & waitresses are more interested in themselves than doing thier job. When you do get your drinks they are pretty good (good bartender.....makes them nice and strong). Overall this place is ok....... more

Love the Beverage... 9/18/2005

Contrary to the last post, I have always found the staff at City Beverage more than willing to accomodate our work group. This place gets packed for dinner, especially outside, where the tables are reserved for people having sit-down dinners (i.e. entrees). This is understandable, given the small size of the restaurant, and the upscale menu. For those people who wish to hang out, enjoy a few appetizers, and have some drinks, there is a section of picnic tables outside, and a lounge inside (no smoking). This is a nice change from the smoky, slow, overpriced Pub across the street. Additionally, the drinks are very strong--so much so that sometimes I have to ask for more mixer!! The 20 beers on tap are a very unique grouping...no boring Miller Lite, etc. I would expect to find a place of this caliber in Manhattan, not the Triangle, but we'll take it! Pros: strong drinks, fun staff, outdoor patio Cons: small, can get crowded more

Lost my business 9/13/2005

The food is great -- the service is awful!!! I went with a group of friends for dinner and appetizers. They would not let us sit outside unless we were ordering full dinner. Some of our group decided they wanted dinner and they still would not let us sit outside. They completely lost my business, however, when some of the wait staffs' friends asked to sit outside to order DRINKS ONLY and were told that was fine. At this point, we left and the waitress said ""whatever"". Granted, we were aggravated at that point, but good customer service means you smile and say you're sorry -- not ""whatever"". We were more than happy to spend our money elsewhere. In fact, the pub across the street got $150 that night!!! I work at a large company and am telling as many people as I can not to go to this restaurant. Pros: good food Cons: horrible service, rude waitress more

AWFUL SERVICE 9/11/2005

I can't believe how awful the service is in this restaurant. Our waitress was so rude that we actually left the restaurant. I have never been treated like this in my life. We were a work group looking for dinner and drinks and they refused to seat us outside. Giving us every excuse to not let us sit outside. We finally left and the waitress turned to a young man and said ""whatever"" as we left. Though we got irritated while dealing with our waitress. We should not have been treated with this attitude. We have told everyone at work not to go to this restaurant. Pros: Ambience, Menu Items Cons: Rude Service more

City Beverage? ALRIGHT!!!!! 9/13/2004

I think I just said it all. But since I have 150 words in which to speak my mind...The Beer? Awesome. I could go to a much ranker and expensive taproom for FRANZISKANER or ALLAGASH WHITE, but why when both of these award winning beers are on tap for less than $4? Starters? wow! no overpriced crappy barburgers, but actual Turkey Mini-burgers w/apples and brie...with additional burgers for a MERE $1 a piece, McDonalds get bent. Dinner...Steak, Tuna, Pasta. Awesome. and the wait staff? WOW! Where else in the triangle can you feel like they might actually be someone you want to hang out with while they are simultaneously serving 50 other customers? and serving great food and drink? go where you want, but if you've got a palate that's worth anything and people actually like to associate with you, try city beverage! Pros: great beer selection, friendly staff, awesome food more

Just tried this place last week 8/27/2004

I stopped by after work for a drink and a snack. The atmosphere is okay. I think it probably gets better once the sun goes down. The service was very good. My martinis was good for the price. They don't over charge you for martnis like many places do. The import beer selection on tap was above average. The crab dip, while a tad salty, was very good. I will definitely give this place another try and take along some friends. more
