Exceptional patience and care! My family has used this office since they opened almost 30 years ago and have not always gotten the best news but it is always given with compassion. Absolutely recommend! more

Best Veterinarian around! I have been taking my pets here for the past 5 years and everyone there is so wonderful. The staff is very compassionate and treats all of my animals like they are their own. Dr. Brooks always finds out exactly what is wrong with my pets and he takes the time to explain everything to me as well. He is so nice and gentle with all of my animals, even when they are scared. I would HIGHLY recommend Citrus Park Animal Hospital to everyone I know. more

Negligence or Indifferent 8/29/2011

I don?t have the courage to detail the death of my best friend. It is not an issue of whether or not medication would have helped. It?s the unprofessionalism of vet . Two days before my best friend died my wife and I visited the clinic. We agonizingly gave an account of his condition. We were asking for help. What we got was the assurance the vet would contact us. That day, no one called. The next day, the last day of my best friend?s life, my wife returned to the clinic. Again, asking for help. More assurances were made. Still no response. We spent two nights with him on the floor at the Emergency Hospital who did what they could but continually encouraging us to consult our vet. NERO 01/16/2003 ? 08/28/2011 Negligence - the failure to exercise that degree of care that, in the circumstances, the law requires for the protection of other persons or those interests of other persons that may be injuriously affected by the want of such care. Indifference - without interest or concern; not caring; apathetic. Unprofessionalism - not professional; not pertaining to or characteristic of a profession. not befitting members of a profession. At the very least this vet was Unprofessional. more

Be careful ... 6/21/2011

I was looking for a Vet to treat my leopard gecko who had just started to develop a mouth infection. She had not eaten in a few days but had not yet begun to lose weight. Her behavior began to change, meaning she let me pick her up which she had not appreciated at all before. Within 18 hours, I had her in the vet's office because we all know that catching anything early is what we all want including for our littlest family members. The doctor handled her like a belt, flipping her upside down and pulling on her jaw. Keep in mind, I raised her and she has certainly never been handled so rough. She became clearly distressed and began to open her mouth wide and breathe differently. He told me that she had a mouth infection and he was going to take her to the back to get a better look. When they returned about 20 minutes later, he said that he gave her a shot of antibiotics and two shots of liquid to keep her hydrated as she hadn't eaten in almost a week. Although she had been drinking water the whole time. He then said that he had irrigated her mouth to clean out the debris. The doctor said that he wanted to see her back in two days to see how the antibiotic was working. She was acting very strangely, not moving much and barely engaging, kinda like she was in shock. He told me to feed her mealworms and to give her a mixture of half Gatorade and half water. After paying the $95.00 bill, I left with my all of a sudden depressed gecko in hand. After I got home, the tech called and said that they had collected two cultures that they needed to send off so that they could give her an antibiotic next time that was more specific for her type of mouth rot rather than the one they gave her that treats everything. The cost of these two cultures was $250.00. I love my gecko so I agreed to pay the price. I was told that they would be sending the cultures to the lab the next day and would include mine in the shipment as long as I came into the office first thing the next morning. ""If you don't pay before 11:00 am then we can't send them."" Well, I had every intention of paying for the tests to keep my gecko from getting more sick. Problem is, after we got home she was still behaving like she was in shock. I was keeping a very close eye on her and increased the humidity in the terrarium to 100% and was increasing the heat to 90 degrees as the doctor had instructed. Three hours after we left the vet's office, I regret to report, my sweet little gecko has passed away. This doctor handled her so abruptly and without any concern for her stress level and she just couldn't handle it. Any doctor should know the importance of not creating additional stress for any animal. He should have been gentle and frankly he should never have taken her into any back room to treat her out of my presence. He should have been gentle, especially with an exotic which is by nature more delicate than others. However, I should not have allowed him to flip her upside down and yank the peeling skin fro her toes. Now I get to live with the regret of not speaking up in her defense because my baby is gone. I am writing this review because what I took her in for was equal to me going to the doctor for a hangnail. It was a common infection that is always curable when caught as early as we caught her's. He created unnecessary stress and deteriorated her condition when she should have been just fine. I can't go back in time and make this right. I let my baby down by remaining silent and trusting the doctor. Please, speak up if you find the doctor causing additional stress to an already stressful experience for your loved ones! We get many opportunities to protect them but it only takes one moment of silence to make us fail their trust. ~Very sad in Tampa more

Citrus Park Animal Hospital is a Wonderful Place 11/15/2010

I went to Banfield Hospital in PetSmart because I had a coupon and thought their wellness program sounded good. Well it was a scam and I lost $170 plus my credit will be ruined with hundreds more. My former cat died at Citrus Park Animal Hospital where I went for 16 years. They were so kind to me and my Sheba. They took care of the cremation. And surgery was charged only at low amount even though much surgery had been done before I agreed to euthanize Sheba. Dr Brooks was so kind on the phone, they sent me a beautiful card and a rose was delivered in her memory. The clerks were super in handling her death and treating me with respect. So I am back at Citrus Park, with my new kitty adopted from a shelter getting the best care from Dr.Brooks at reasonable prices. Not gouged me like Banfield. I recommend them to everyone that has a pet. more

Pampers pets AND their owners! 2/15/2010

This animal clinic is by far the best in Tampa! I recently compared rates when having my dog nuetered and they were half of what others quoted me! Pros: Great care @ great prices! more

I switched to Citrus Park AH: Reasonable Prices, Quality Care, and compassionate staff. 7/2/2008

6 months ago my daughter?s 2 YO pet hamster had become ill and Ehrlick AH (my vet at the time) would not treat it. We took it to CPAH and they did a good job with treatment. Although the Hamster eventually passed away CPAH treated the Hamster with great care and us (especially my Daughter) with compassion. We also have a 2 YO Purebred Maltese whom I am very particular about, as I have owned Maltese's for over 15 years. EAH cost me a lot for regular visits, shots, and flee/heartworm meds. Recently I priced out EAH for teeth cleaning. They quoted over $800.00 for a reg. cleaning and 3 puppy tooth extractions!! I almost passed out! CPAH did the same cleaning (prep, anesthesia, extraction, cleaning, pain meds, and antibiotics) for a little more than $200.00. (this is their everyday price for the service). I was very impressed with the level of service, explanation of the procedure and risks, and follow up from the staff. My Maltese came home the same day, a little groggy from the anesthetics, but with barely any noticeable ""holes"" from the extractions and very clean teeth. (especially the back molars, hard to get areas for a small dogs mouth). I could tell CPAH did a thorough and detailed procedure. I also priced out regular flee/heartworm preventive meds from them (Advantage & Heartguard) and found their prices less than EAH without the hassle of paying for a checkup to get the meds as EAH has done to me in the past. Another note, I saw a kitten that was clipped by a car on Sheldon Rd. not long ago. The car in front of me picked it up and I followed them to CPAH. They took the kitten in and treated it without a cost to the good Samaritan and that really impressed me. Bottom line: CPAH has a caring staff, quality doctors, and very reasonable prices for their service. I have since switched vets from EAH to CPAH and recommend them not only for quality care but also for sincere compassion for pet and owner alike. SG in Citrus Park Pros: Reasonable Prices, Quality service, compassionate staff & Doctors. Cons: Parking lot is hard to navigate with all the trees. more
