Very nice place, a bit high in price 1/2/2007

We visited Ciolas for x-mas eve, they were accomodating and the food was great. However, one glass of the house merlot was $9, a bit high outside of the city. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Drinks a bit high more

Keeps Getting Better 7/31/2006

My husband and I have dined at Ciola's regularly over the past couple of years and have had overall great experiences. There is always a Ciola family member there whether they are cooking your food in the kitchen or greeting you at the door which gives us a sense of comoft that chain restaurants and other places can't provide. If you love great food, wine, and friendly service with out any pretentions then Ciola's is the place for you. Pros: Authetic east coast italian food and ambiance, large menu Cons: only one location more

DON'T TRY ITALIAN ANYWHERE ELSE!!!! IF YOU ARE NATIVE NEW YORKER, YOU'LL KNOW WHY! 7/10/2006

Ok, so why some people won't TRULY understand is because not EVERYONE CAN BE FROM NY, where all great Italian food originates. So take it from an East Coaster who was brought up with grandparents off the boat from Sicily, and parents who practically fed us marinara sauce from the bottle growing up. \r If you truly knew what they were trying to convey when they thought out their decor, atmoshere, and staff, they were accentuating the reality of the TRUE EAST COAST AND TRUE ITALIAN WAY! Of course you will think it is loud, ITALIANS ARRRREEE LOUD........... THE BEAUTY OF US! Of course, the tables are close........ Italians eat at ONE BIG DINNER TABLE........... and if you are saying that someone is rude, you may be mistaking good old Italian humor, especially if you are NOT ITALIAN, so don't take offense, lighten up and enjoy not only the food, but REMEMBER WHAT ITALIANS ARE TRULY ABOUT. What I like is that it has the whole feel of true people, real people, fun, homy and comfortable, the owners are more than gracious and always willing to sit with you and have a glass of wine, on the house, if you are a regular like me, and there you are, in your own dining room at home, THAT IS HOW COMFORTABLE IT IS........ you may even get to stay late for some dancing, ( the owners love to dance). It's a truly amazing place so don't let anyone or any other discourage your visit to Ciola's. Go for yourself, and check out how great the Italian way really is. \r The food, is, hands down, AUTHENTIC, REAL, LOTS OF LOVE PUT INTO IT, AND FRIGIN GOOD........ \r any pasta dish, seafood rocks, drinks are amazing, the wine list gets longer every time I go, and the Steak Margarhita is to die for. Oh, yea, without a doubt, ask for a very special soup, called Ginny's Escarole Soup..... In Italian sounds like.... Shkataul..... be original and ask for that as a starter, you won't be disapointed.\r I am off to go eat some Clams and have a glass of wine, I don't know 'bout y'all....... Ciao! Pros: Parking is great, seating outside is a major plus, wine while you wait Cons: Not enough money to eat there breakfast, lunch and dinner! more

Best kept secret in Austin 5/24/2006

I recently moved to Austin and heard about a little Italian restaurant ou tin Lakeway. This is by far the best Italian food I have ever had outside of New York! The service staff is extremely knowledgable, while not push. The owner, Dan Ciola, mingles with his patrons and is eager to dicuss the history of his place. This place is incredible, you won't be dissapointed. Pros: service, food, wine list more

Great Italian food at a reasonable price. Ciola's offers a nice setting with an attentive staff and a quality meal. From the appetizers to the Spumoni, you won't be disappointed with your food. Having eaten at Ciola's on several occassions, the food has been consistent and the service prompt. Ciao! Pros: Good Parking more

So, this is authentic Italian?? 3/12/2006

If this is authentic Italian, like the other reviews mentioned, then I guess I don't really like Italian as much as I thought. I ate there on Valentine's day and it was NOT Romantic. I could'nt imagine a time where it would be; it's loud, overcrowded and the people in the next table were practically in our laps. They lost our reservation (or so they said). I felt totally out of my element. The waitress was rude and ignored my date and I--the bus boy refilled our drinks because our she kept igoring us. Above all, I have better Italian in a frozen dinner. Pros: easy to park Cons: bad service, food sucks!, over priced more

Best outside NY 6/15/2005

Having lived in NYC for 8 years and in so doing becoming addicted to great Italian food, it's a blessing to have Ciola's right here in Austin. Nothing in the city or the state compares to Ciola's. It's a truly awesome experience. Pros: authentic flavors, comprehensive menu, tremendous wine list more

Old School, authentic Italian 5/19/2005

If you were raised Italian (as I was), this is as close as it comes to grandma's home cooked food! Seriously. It's the best in town! Ciola's serves old school, authentic Italian food with the family ambience of many wonderful east coast Italian resturants like those found in Little Italy (NYC), the North End (Boston), and other areas well known Italian regions! I've been looking for this kind of Italian food in Austin for 15 years. My parents came to Austin a few months ago (both are Italian) and wanted to eat at Ciola's 2 of the 3 nights they were here. They is no better endorsement than that! more
