Awesome Place to See a Movie 9/14/2005

If you have to run to the restroom while the movie is playing you'll still be able to at least hear the audio while you are away. This place has a nostalgic feel. Most places these days don't have that unique quality anymore. There are big blue velvet seats and plush surroundings. You will find balcony seating as well. The Cinerama is a one screen theatre. So, if there is a movie coming out that you know you will want to see, watch for it to show at the Cinerama and go there. If you have never been here before, you'll be happy you made the trip. I guess you could say it is the Paramount of movie theatres. more

Good experience 8/20/2005

I would suggest seeing the big big movies there, such as the Lord of the Rings and Spiderman movies. The huge screen is incredible and the decor truly make this a fun and memorable experience. Every year they have the Cinerama film festival, showing the old Cinerama films and utilizing the three projectors. Arrive early to the theater, as there is usually a long line. However, there are plenty of seats. more

Cinerama 8/19/2005

Another Seattle landmark, this theater is known for its "cinerama" screen, which basically means it's huge and slightly curved, designed for the 70mm films that were popular in the 50's and 60's. Refurbished in the '90's by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, it's better than ever today and is the place to see an event film, such as the latest sci-fi spectacular. more

NICE...But 8/19/2005

The Cinerama is nice and big but I'm not sure if it is the nicest in Seattle anymore. There are a lot of new theaters in Seattle that I feel are better than the Cinerama (like the new one in Lynnwood). The seats at the Cinerama are ok but a lot of them are broken and rock to much. It can also be distracting when you are watching a movie and all you can hear is people's seats squeaking while rocking back and forth. The Screen I admit is the best though. more

great downtown theatre 8/18/2005

This is the best downtown movie theatre. Located in the center of downtown, it is close to several major hotels and shopping district. Multiple screens are spread across three floors. You can get to the theatre through many different routes of buses. And they are free! Unlike many other movie theatre, the pop corns here is not burned. Before the movie, you can walk around and do some shopping, after the movie, you can walk to bars and clubs and party on. more

The best movie theater in Seattle 8/18/2005

I don't go out to movies that often, but if there is a major film release (such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc), then this is the place to go. The screen is enormous and the sound is amazing. For a blockbuster showing I recommend getting there a little early, as lines tend to form outside prior to each showing. It's well worth the trip downtown, and the price is actually comparable to other movie locations in the region. fun fun fun more

Retro Theatre 8/18/2005

This is not your typical shopping mall movie theatre... it actually has character! This is a single screen theatre that's been renovated and kept up. Everything is totally retro & just a nice change of pace from a typical theatre. Also, the seats lean back entirely too far, but I think it's fun. The crowd seems fun too, maybe that's the theatre or maybe that's just Seattle? more

Cinerama 8/17/2005

This is a truly great place to see a new movie. Despite the somewhat uncomfortable chairs in the back, the sound system is great, the screen is huge, the staff is nice, and the theatre is relatively clean. I saw Star Wars III here, which was a great experience! more

Cinerama is Cinema-astic! 8/17/2005

If you have not seen a movie at the Cinerama, you are missing out on an amazing experience! The huge screen, incredible sound, and luxurious seats, blows away all other theaters I have been to. The Cinerama mostly shows major blockbuster movies, but they choose films that look and sound great in their theater. No independent movies here! Check out the Landmark Theatres if you are looking for independent. When I want to see a major action or sci-fi flick, I check to see if it will be playing at Cinerama before I look elsewhere. Since the Cinerama has only one screen, they don’t switch movies very often. Also, if you want to see a popular movie on opening weekend, it is important to buy tickets in advance. more

Modernized high-tech historical movie theater 8/17/2005

The Cinerama is a very old theater in downtown Seattle that was completely renovated and updated, thanks to the generous Paul Allen, in 1999. The theater seats 808 and has a cool retro interior complete with balcony seating. One of the most technologically advanced theaters around, the theater has digital surround sound, a restored curved Cinerama screen for presentations of 70mm classics that’s 30 feet high and 90 feet long, and a second, modular 68 foot screen that can be used for modern movies and sits right in front of the larger screen. The movies seem to cost about the same as anywhere else and it offers a very high quality movie viewing experience. more

best movie theater ever 8/17/2005

Movie theaters tend to all be the same. Cinerama located in Belltown is a theater apart. My favorite part of this venue is the fiber-optic ceiling which is always twinkling and changing. The seats are and the huge digital screen makes this theater one of the best around. I would suggest viewing animation films here. The picture quality is amazing more

The Best 8/17/2005

I highly recommend this theater without any hesitation. I would suggest seeing the big big movies there, such as the Lord of the Rings and Spiderman movies. Every year they have the Cinerama film festival, showing the old Cinerama films and utilizing the three projectors. Arrive early to the theater, as there is usually a long line. HUGE Screen - its a Fan Favorite 8/17/2005

Unlike most new theaters which squeeze 20 screens into one building, the Cinerama is unique in that it only has one screen. But the SIZE of this screen is one of the biggest on the west coast. Here's a little history of this theater. It was a classic theater back in the day showing Cinerama films. After time it became worn down and down trodden. Lovingly restored by Seattle owner Paul Allen it is now the "fan boy" place to see movies. Aside from the screen, the reason to go to this theater is that it attracts the best audiences on opening day. The crowd is usually quite interactive with the movie and cheers are never looked down on. When Terminator part 8 or the 12th re-release of Star Wars comes to the silver screen - be sure to see it at the Cinerama. more

big screen, rowdy crowds 8/17/2005

As anybody who has been to the Cinerama will tell you, it's screen is big. Really big. And it sits a lot of people. In an age of multiplexes trying to eek out every last dollar from you, it's freshing to have at least 1 threatre buck the trend and go for volume, not throughput. But the size of the Cinerama isn't its best feature. That honor will go to the crowd. See, because the place is so large, it's best used for action movies. Action movies tend to be seen by a more.... energetic population. Going to such a film on opening night here can be quite a blast. more

Movie nirvana at the Cinerama 8/16/2005

Call me crazy, but I consider theatre atmosphere to be a crucial factor that can affect the movie going experience—a crummy theatre with small screen and bad sound can ruin an otherwise great movie. Well you don't have to worry about that happening at the Cinerama. Instead it is quite possible that you will leave the theatre thinking a bad movie was great just because of how amazing it looked on the screen. I was a huge fan before the big restoration, but now it is even better. Everything is state-of-the-art, and the seats are super comfortable. This is THE place in Seattle to see a movie. You won't be disappointed! more

The Best Movie Theater - Period 8/16/2005

Cinerama is without a doubt the best place to watch a movie in Seattle. How good is it? Pearl Harbor was awesome at Cinerama. The sound is absolutely outstanding, no matter where you're sitting. Explosions feel like they're literally hitting you. The super-sized screen and relatively limited depth of the theater make you feel like objects on the screen are going to fly out and hit you. With its old school retro-kitsch decor, Cinerama is a fun throwback to a seemingly more innocent era. Now, if they could get cinerama type movies more frequently, rather than changing only once per month or less frequently, I'd have an excuse to go more often. more

Cinema-tastic! 8/16/2005

If you are a movie buff in Seattle, then you already know that Cinerama is THE place to see a movie. With its larger than life screen and sound to blow your mind, Cinerama has been wowing movie goers for years. fortunately for all of us, it got a remodel/upgrade just in time for the new millennium. I have found that if you go on a weeknight, the crowd is considerably less, and you can usually find free on street parking, which will save you a bit of money. more

Cinerama Movie Theatre 8/16/2005

If you’re a film lover, this is the theatre for you. The screen is enormous, and the Cinerama plays digitally filmed movies. The typical, more everyday concerns like concessions and the seats are very good too, with comfortable seating. The best part of the Cinerama experience, though, is the level of quality with the films played there. When you visit the theatre, you get the sense that everyone who works there really does love movies—that it’s not just a job. They take special care to show the movie in the best manner possible, and make sure your viewing experience is pleasurable. While this theatre is a little bit more expensive than most, it is worth it. more

Great Place to see a movie 8/16/2005

This place has the largest screen in Seattle. It's about three stories high! And the sound system is quite spectacular. From the moment you arrive, you can tell that this place is special. Watch the twinkling starry ceiling while you wait for your movie to begin. Stay away on premieres unless you are a die-hard fan. Depending on the movie, people will wait outside for days to be first in line. It is truly an experience to see a movie here. more

Great movie screen 8/16/2005

This is the best place to see a movie - bar none. The screen at Cinerama is huge, and the sound system is great too. If you want to feel like your in the movie then go here. ALthough ticket prices are high like other theatres, this place privides the best value for main stream movies. Read up on the history of the theatre too, its quite interesting. This is a Seattle landmark so to speak. more
